Chapter 115: His motives

The same day.

Elliot and Jenna went to Andrew’s blacksmith shop, also within the Angelic Wave territory.

Powerful people completely protected this area. Most of them seemed to be undercover; they did not reveal who they were, but they were powerful bodyguards that the guild had granted to Andrew.

In the last few days, this security was intensified for some reason.

The smithy was simple but complete. It contained everything Andrew would need to make his weapons and all the utilities that could help him with them.

But it was private. Only he worked here.

When they both arrived, he was finishing making the weapon Elliot had commissioned him to make.

He has an excellent talent for blacksmithing, to the point that he might be even better than the best blacksmith in this area.

He just doesn’t like to work at it, unless it’s for his friends.

And Elliot and Jenna had already been urging him to leave for a while.

"Elliot. Let me ask you a question." He said suddenly, looking at the longsword he was creating.

Elliot thought he would talk to him about the sword, so he nodded to him while sitting behind him, enduring the heat of the room.

"Go ahead."

"Do you want to participate in the Leveled Leagues?" he asked suddenly, taking him by surprise.

He frowned, but nodded.

"Of course. I’ll work hard these last few months of the year to be up to speed in January." He replied.

Andrew smiled.

"Then that’s fine." He said and went to cool the sword. "This sword is now ready. I think it will serve your summoning very well to strengthen you."

"Oh? How about what we talked about, Andrew?" Elliot stood up and followed close behind him. "Why don’t you want to go? You’re going to the famous Runic Kingdom! That place is great. And seeing how you’ve been talking about it for the past few days, I’m sure you love it."

Andrew nodded. "Yes, I love it." He replied.

"Then..."

"But." He interrupted him. "Do you know why I love it?"

Elliot shook his head, puzzled by his question.

He then stood firm, holding the sword in his hand.

"I’m a Blacksmith, Elliot. A Blacksmith who hasn’t even reached the Master Rank, but is being pursued by all the saints of this kingdom." He said suddenly.

"Do you know why?"

He didn’t stop and continued talking.

"Because my father was the Saint Blacksmith of the Waterfall. And I inherited his talent. Maybe not his class, but his smithing ability. They seek me out because they fear that I will create another Runic Kingdom or that I will strengthen them."

His words caused a shock to Elliot and Jenna.

Elliot frowned.

’I see. That’s why he was talking and defending the Saint Blacksmith so much... so he’s his father.’

He was facing the son of one of the continent’s greatest eminences, a saint and, among them, a Blacksmith capable of creating such a powerful kingdom.

The Saint Blacksmith’s talent... was certainly scary.

But...

Elliot glared at him and grabbed him by his shoulders. "That being the case, it is even more indispensable that you leave!" He exclaimed.

"They want your death, and they’re saints! It’s almost impossible for them not to find you!"

But Andrew shook his head.

"No." He said firmly.

"Why?"

"Because in the Runic Kingdom, only my father was respected."

"Hm? What do you mean?"

"Over there, anyone would sell me out for money, Elliot. The Runic Kingdom has traitors, too. They’ll only decide not to sell me out if I really come into the leaders’ sights. But not as someone who is the son of a Talented One, but as an independent entity." He assured.

"I’m not going to go and die. I’ll still be fine here. Don’t worry."

After patting Elliot on the shoulder, Andrew turned away and went to cool the sword that was already warming his hand.

Elliot stood stunned, looking at him.

And Jenna smiled.

"You won’t go on?" she asked.

Elliot denied.

"I can’t convince him." Although he was a little annoyed, he smiled. "He’s completely made up his mind."

"Why do you say that?" Jenna asked.

"His eyes do not lie. Maybe he has other reasons not to, but the reality is that what he just said is a truth that he believes as absolute. He won’t go even if we try to force him."

She nodded, understanding.

"Do you think he, Chris, and Rich want to participate in the Leveled Leagues?" she asked.

"Yes." He replied. "I heard that Chris and Rich haven’t gotten out of their training. Winning the tournament did a lot to motivate them."

"Yes. Chris is getting much better with his swordplay. Also, I heard from the leaders that they will hire some masters to teach us. I wonder which one they’ll give to you."

"Haha. Some normal one, Jenna. What are you thinking?"

"Haha." She laughed. "I don’t think so. With your growing ability, giving you a normal one would be a waste. They’ll probably give you some special one."

Elliot shook his head with a sigh. "Well, we’ll have to go through the Prize Dungeon first anyway, right? That curious D-Rank dungeon that gives great rewards."

Jenna nodded. "Yes. Tomorrow."

"Oh?" Elliot turned sharply. "Tomorrow!?"

"Yes." She looked at him. "Didn’t I tell you?"

Elliot tried to remember and found in his mind that Jenna had recently told him about October 16th being the day to pass that dungeon...

"Shit, I’d forgotten."

"Hahahaha. You’ve been drawing a lot." She laughed out loud, and Elliot felt slightly embarrassed.

Just at those moments, Andrew returned.

"There’s your sword ready, Elliot. Try it." He then handed him a rather long sword, over five feet long.

It had intricate detailing in deep red and black, making it glow with power.

--

A while later, at Elliot’s apartment.

He was alone, as everyone was training. He had taken a few days off to relax and process everything that was happening.

His life had changed drastically, but it had all just begun. It seemed like a giant world was still waiting for him to walk through it.

He had barely won the smallest of tournaments. He was just beginning to learn to fly.

But the change was so drastic that he needed a moment to process it. To understand where he stood and where he should be going.
