Chapter 92: Griffin’s Arrival
Chapter 92: Griffin’s Arrival
When Griffin arrived, everyone was already present. They were having a joyous meal. Qwanisha, Faith, and Max were eating like they haven’t eaten for many ages. Kaiju, on the other hand, was wearing a pink apron and continued to cook for them with his cooking apparatus. Lucy, meanwhile, was talking to a blue serpent, causing him to furrow his eyebrows.
"Did he tame more beasts?" Griffin slightly smiled.
He casually observed the other serpent and lingered his gaze more at the red serpent, seemingly sensing his stare and meeting his gaze. That guy... not bad. Griffin’s impression of Ember.
Ember, on the other hand, felt apprehensive when staring at Griffin. He’s strong! He exclaimed in his mind. Of course, when Ember meant strong, not only on his offensive abilities, but other aspects, as well. It was more like how strong a person can control the battlefield with his intelligence and capabilities. Ember instantly gauged through Griffin with a single glance.
He smiled. That guy must be who Kaiju is referring to. If that is the case, then he is worthy for Zephyr to follow as his new master. He is not all brawn, even though his fighting style seems like it. Ember instantly grasped how Griffin fought when he saw the rapier on his waist.
Griffin, meanwhile, frowned at being scrutinized by the red serpent. I feel like I’m naked from his gaze. He did not like it at all. However, since he is the tamed beast of Kaiju, I’ll let him off. Even so, he glared at the red serpent, so the latter could be aware of his actions.
Ember’s eyes widened and lowered his head with an apologetic expression. Griffin felt satisfied by his actions and nodded.
"Oh, that arrogant guy is finally here!"
"Ah, Teacher Griffin! Come and eat with us."
Griffin gave an indifferent glance at Qwanisha and turned to Kaiju. He shook his head and walked towards him. "I’m not that hungry like those ravenous wolves. Let me help you."
"Thank you in advance!"
"Hump!" Qwanisha did not bother to argue with him, having not contented with her eating yet. However, when she realized Griffin would be joining Kaiju on cooking, she still shouted at the latter, "K-Kaiju, be cardsfrreful, he migdfht pgjut puisoughn ohn athe feoerd."
Kaiju understood what Qwanisha said. He smiled bitterly and said, "Um, Big Sister Qwanisha, do not speak when your mouth is full."
"Big Sister? She’s no Big Sister. She might have even witnessed the apocalypse. I’m not referring to the Tower, but the meteor that ended the lives of dinosaurs."
"WAJKT DIDKLNTA YONUU SNTAY?" Qwanisha snapped.
"Now, now." Kaiju always admired Griffin’s ability to annoy Qwanisha. "Teacher Griffin was only joking. Alright, continue eating–. We will cook now." Since he did not want the conflict between Griffin and Qwanisha to escalate further, Kaiju held back from mentioning Qwanisha’s name.
Qwanisha was about to say something but got choked. She hastily asked for water and Max seemed to have anticipated it would happen, so he instantly pushed the cup full of water towards his lover.
Griffin just snorted and could not curse since he instantly went into full concentration in cooking. Cooking was his hobby as it always helped him clear his thoughts. Even without him mentioning it to Kaiju, the latter was also cooking with the same aim.
After all, Kaiju always found cooking as a way to vent his stress and a type of meditation. In addition, it also helps him forget about problems and just think of cooking something that would satisfy the stomachs of his pets and tamed beasts.
With Griffin’s appearance, the cooking duration lessened considerably, until Qwanisha, Faith, and Max felt full they fell asleep on their chairs. Griffin snorted at them and finally cooked for themselves.
Lucy understood Griffin and Kaiju needed another dining table, so she created one. Of course, the chairs included the only awakened at the present that wanted to eat once again... like her.
When the pressure of cooking cooled down and Kaiju sensed they could have a conversation with Griffin somewhat, Kaiju took the chance to converse with him, "How have you been, Teacher?"
"It’s alright. Encountered some problems, but they were easily solved."
Although that strange blue werewolf is still impossible to understand. What he wanted to say.
"Oh, what were those?"
Kaiju had a feeling it was similar to his battle with the Luminari and the violet infernal.
"Not telling."
It corrected his assumptions.
"I encountered the same problem, too. Thankfully, I managed to solve it."
Griffin smiled, understanding what Kaiju meant and nodded. "Good for you."
"By the way, Teacher, my dagger elevated to advanced mastery. In addition, I heed your suggestions and now I’m using dual daggers."
Griffin was somewhat surprised. "I told you."
Kaiju smiled. He then recalled Ember and said, "I have been planning to let the serpents I’ve tamed to follow who can bring their potential to the fullest. After all, if they were to follow me during the raid, I’m afraid they might not be able to shine. Furthermore, I’m used to fighting with Snow and Little Gorilla, and we even have a battle formation we have practiced for three months with Qwanisha."
Griffin was surprised and glanced at Kaiju. "You mean..."
"You’re right." Kaiju turned to Zephyr, standing beside Ember, observing them, and continued, "Have you seen that green serpent? I think he can fight with you well since he is also a wind element?"
For some reason, Griffin was somewhat disappointed. "I see. I thought you were referring to the red serpent."
"Ember?" Kaiju’s eyes widened and glanced at Ember. He lowered his gaze and pondered. "It’s actually not a bad idea. After all, wind can boost fire. I haven’t thought of that."
In fact, there was no way Kaiju would be able to think about it, as it was instantly discarded. After all, such an idea always means that fire would be the main offensive while wind would become supplementary. Knowing Griffin’s egoistic behavior, he was surprised.
"Yes, but how you phrase it is wrong." Griffin focused on the cooking and continued, "My wind will be strong because of his fire."
Kaiju’s eyes widened and nodded. "You’re right. If Ember were to follow you, who do you think best Zephyr can follow?"
Griffin said with an indifferent tone, "Just toss him at Qwanisha. They haven’t told you the plan yet?"
Kaiju was stunned.
He indeed had not told them yet since they instantly joined their feast and now went to sleep. Furthermore, he didn’t ask them yet, primarily because it was not the right time.
He bitterly smiled and said, "I’ll go with your suggestion."
Griffin nodded with an impassive face and continued to cook. Once they were done, Griffin and Kaiju prepared the feast on the new dining table prepared by Lucy. The latter greeted Griffin and he only responded indifferently. Lucy did not mind and ate with them.
At the same time, Kaiju told Ember while they were eating, "Ember, you will follow Griffin. Zephyr... we’ll decide later."
Zephyr and Ember were taken aback. The former was somewhat dispirited, while Ember just glanced at Griffin and continued to eat. Kaiju felt his heart ached when he saw Zephyr’s response, but he didn’t have a choice, lest Zephyr might be discarded by Griffin’s nonchalant attitude.
