Chapter 85: Thermal Overload

Chapter 85: Thermal Overload

Kaiju perceived that the battle seemed to be in a stalemate and was even surprised to hear Ember instructing Aqua and Zephyr to coordinate their magic attack with Snow’s bloodline awakening’s effects. He admired Ember’s ability to adapt.

He took the chance to instruct the Gacha System to show Snow’s bloodline awakening’s effects for better understanding.

{Effects of Bloodline Awakening:

Corrupted Rank:

Frosted Poison Glands: Increases the toxicity and chilling effect of venom, making frostbite symptoms more severe and reducing the enemy’s agility significantly.

Icy Suppression: Snow emits a chilling aura that suppresses enemy abilities, reducing their power while in her presence. Decreases enemies’ magic and skill potency. Prolonged exposure amplifies the suppression effect.

Noxious Domain: Snow permeates her poison silently in a five meter radius. It does not recognize allies or foes, any who breathe would be poisoned immediately. Snow poison’s potency elevates.}

Kaiju was stunned. To think her bloodline awakening is simply like ascending through the ranks. He assumed, as the effects of Snow’s bloodline awakening was too passive but practical in battling against powerful creatures. With the bloodline awakening, it was even possible to become a realm-breaker.

He observed the battlefield and perceived the effects of Icy Suppression, which Zephyr was taking advantage of, elevating its effects with his wind element. Kaiju then recalled the abilities of Zephyr and was aware he would not be able to use them due to the disadvantageous situation–he had to get close and most of his deadly skills can affect allies, especially Wind of Erasure.

Kaiju glanced at Ember and even though his abilities were useless against the enemies with fire resistance, his leadership ability was proven valuable in the situation. As a result, with Snow’s attacks, backed by Little Gorilla and the other serpents, the violet infernal was totally locked down.

He glanced at the violet infernal and knew the latter still had tricks up his sleeves. He was only flaunting his hellfire manipulations, blocking the powerful torrent of ice and jet ice by Aqua and Snow’s sharp icicles, while trying to counterattack.

Kaiju’s vision narrowed. It’s not that he did not want to use them but he just can not. Unless he gives up on manipulating the hellfire to defend and cast a magic attack that might take a second, enough for Snow to take advantage off. He was filled with relief, knowing that the Hunter’s Gambit was effective.

In addition, it was only effective since Snow’s sharp icicles seemed to have been never-ending. Kaiju noticed it and furrowed his eyebrows. Is it also the effects of the bloodline awakening, too? To possess a limitless supply of mana?

{That is correct. I did not include it since all of the bloodline awakening possess the same effects of never ending mana.}

Kaiju nodded and did not mind the Gacha System’s way of doing things. He was still waiting and observing, wanting to get information from the battlefield. He suddenly noticed that the poison emitted by Snow, as the latter kept the distance between her and the violet infernal in five meters, slowly affected the violet infernal.

...

Bune was instantly aware of the poison seeping through his bodies and surprisingly even swallowing his hellfire. His countenance turned grave. Why is this poison so damn potent? My hellfire can’t even burn it. What the hell? Does this mean that the damn serpent’s bloodline awakening is in poison, too?! Bune wasn’t given enough time to ponder more as Snow increased the intensity of her bombardment.

Damn it! I don’t have a choice but to fight all out.

What only restrained him from revealing all of his cards was once he failed, he would die. However, he was forced to reveal it.

"Thermal Overload!"

It was one of the effects of advanced hellfire manipulation mastery. His attributes would not increase, but his hellfire would become more potent, but, at the same time, it would damage his body if he overused it. Despite his body being a perfect conductor to carry the hellfire, becoming their innate talent, there was still a limit. Hence, the violet infernal wanted to avoid using it.

The heat became unbearably hot, Aqua and the other serpents’ attack became useless. Furthermore, the radiant skin and the single-handed shield alone could not entirely stop the heat from affecting them.

"Retreat!" Ember shouted without hesitation and was the first to retreat, where Aqua and Zephyr followed suit. His command was only pointed to them, however, as Little Gorilla did not even take a little step back. He gritted his teeth and endured the heat, where even his radiant skin’s dim light was diminishing.

His eyes narrowed and focused at bearing the heat for the other serpents to escape. The violet infernal released two chains with each of his hands and attacked him and Snow with it. Little Gorilla bore the impact with the single-handed shield and blood poured out of his mouth.

Suddenly, he was hesitating, but it only lasted a split second before his eyes flashed with determination.

When the chain was about to hit him, he threw the single-handed shield aside, knowing it would break, and it might disheartened his master. He wanted to prevent that from happening. The chain landed on his heavy armor instead, but the impact could be more felt, causing his inside to be disturbed.

However, the hellfire left a trace in his heavy armor, dropping its durability to almost zero in just one attack. It survived, nonetheless, and it was all Little Gorilla needed. His half-closed third eye earlier abruptly opened, releasing a dense beam of light, heading towards the infernal. Blood crawled out of its eyelids as his pair of eyes glanced at Snow, who did not hesitate to take the chance and bolted forward at the violet infernal.

Snow, knowing it was a crucial moment, did not hesitate but to rush forward, aiming to bite the violet infernal. She observed earlier that the chilling aura she released was sufficient to block the hellfire. Although she noticed now it could only slow down due to the sudden intensity of the heat, it was more than enough to bite at the violet infernal.

Bune, who noticed the beam of light was not being burned by his hellfire, was shaken. When he saw through Snow’s attempt, he tilted his head upward and howled at the top of his lungs. He wanted to distract Little Gorilla to get rid of the dense beam of light and to stun Snow.
