Chapter 86: Kaiju Strikes
Before the Thermal Overload, Kaiju was done analyzing the battlefield. He glanced at his mana points and saw it was finally recovered to the brim. He was not only staying idle but was trying to recover his mana points, too. At the same time, he browsed through his inventory and found only the Sylph’s Feather and Tempest Fang could be used.
As much as he wanted to use the Frostbite Arrow, he did not even have a bow. He was also not keen on the sudden idea of stabbing the violet infernal with it since Frostfang Dagger would do.
Kaiju instantly placed the Sylph’s Feather behind his ear and wore Tempest Fang on his left hand, relished by their effects.
{ Sylph’s Feather effects:
Windwalker Grace: Increases the wearer’s movement speed and agility, making them faster and more agile in both combat and exploration.
Breeze Step: Grants the ability to create a cushion of air beneath the wearer’s feet, allowing short bursts of gliding or reducing fall damage.
Sylph’s Whisper: Enhances auditory perception by amplifying sounds carried by the wind. The wearer can detect faint noises or distant conversations.
Aero Shield: Surrounds the wearer with a subtle barrier of wind that reduces incoming projectile damage.
Tempest Fang Gauntlet effects:
Gale Parry: Enhances precision and speed when parrying or deflecting attacks, creating a small gust of wind to unbalance opponents upon successful deflection.
Wind Stride: Increases the wearer’s agility, improving footwork and allowing smoother, faster movements during combat.
Breezeshift: Grants the ability to produce a short, controlled burst of wind from the gauntlet to boost strikes, increasing attack speed and enabling longer thrusting reach for a brief moment.
(Cooldown: 15 seconds).
Aero Barrier: Summons a temporary shield of wind around the gauntlet, reducing damage from ranged projectiles like arrows or light magic attacks.
Duration: 10 seconds, Cooldown: 1 minute).}
The Gacha System’s voice echoed in his head.
{Note: I have decided to get rid of the specific percentage of the effects as it could be gauged by feeling anyway.}
"You’re right. I also don’t mind. It just gives me more time to read it."
Kaiju closed and opened his left fist repeatedly, assessing his current strength. He then jumped to perceive if the feather would detached behind his ear but it appeared it was even glued. He was about to continue experimenting with the artifacts, when the Sylph’s Whisper effects activated, catching the noise of the Thermal Overload.
His face turned ugly, observing the deep violet intensifying, affecting Little Gorilla and the others. Due to his emotionless skill still being in effect, he merely glanced at Little Gorilla and was assured he would be safe... not the single-handed shield.
He returned his focus to the diffusing violet flame and clucked his tongue with an indifferent expression. I might not have a Fire Resistance, but I have Pain Tolerance. Kaiju was aware his body could be burned to ashes while feeling no pain. However, the Shadoweave battlegarb would be the first to be smoldered.
He shook his head and glanced at the swinging chains and did not hesitate to rush forward. His speed became faster, his agility was elevated, too. He watched, as Little Gorilla threw the single-handed shield and bore the impact with his heavy armor, with a subtle change of his expression. What is he doing?
He then saw the dense beam of light concentrating at the violet infernal and knew it was a crucial moment to end the life of the violet infernal. He glanced at Snow and his eyebrows furrowed for her reckless action. It’s not her role, it’s mine. What is she doing, too? Kaiju shook his head, his thoughts were clear thanks to his Emotionless skill
He then glanced at the violet infernal and heard his echo. He was not stunned thanks to the effects of Light Resistance skill and Pain Tolerance.
At the same time, he blinked behind the violet infernal and used the skill, Silent Kill, to thrust the Bloodthorn at the back of his neck, halting the scream. The dense beam of light returned to normal, increasing its effectiveness, while Snow finally recovered from the stunned state and was startled to see her master stabbing the violet infernal with the Frostfang dagger with an indifferent expression.
The Frostfang dagger’s effects spread on the chest of the violet infernal, whose bloodline awakening and Thermal Overload slowly diminishing. His life was slowly being taken away from him.
...
Bune was surprised his howl was stopped by the presence he did not even sense behind him. There was no killing intent at all. He tried to turn his head, but another stab penetrated his chest and could perceive the frost spreading in his chest, while the poison intensified, raging on his insides. He swept his gaze and still saw the serpent in mid-air, so it could not be her.
Suddenly, he recalled something and everything slowly made sense. The Luminari’s bloodline awakening suddenly vanished, did she die because of the creature who stabbed behind my back? Bune knew he was correct. No, that is not what is important. I am dying!
He tried to utter something but it was inaudible as his vocal voice was damaged badly. He wanted to resist, but when he did so, Snow finally arrived and bit on his neck, ending his life. Due to Snow’s bloodline awakening, his body was completely frozen in a dozen of seconds while poison ensured his life ceased.
...
Kaiju pulled his daggers and cast an indifferent glance at the frozen violet infernal, feeling no more no more heat. Subconsciously, he tilted his head downward and was stunned to see his Shadoweave Battlegarb melting, he hurriedly stored it in the inventory and repaired it with Luck Points. He was left with a t-shirt and shorts and that was when he noticed his skin was entirely burned.
Simultaneously, the Gacha System reverberated in his mind.
{All of the Pain Tolerance’s effects have been activated.}
Kaiju’s eyes widened and finally realized why he felt his concentration heightened, his strength and speed soared without his knowledge, as he focused on killing the violet infernal. He sighed.
He turned to Snow and smiled at her. The latter wagged her tail elatedly and deactivated her bloodline awakening. She rested on Kaiju’s shoulder, curling her body around and immediately went to sleep.
She informed her master she would be in slumber for, at least, a week, and Kaiju nodded helplessly. Kaiju was about to sweep his gaze at Little Gorilla when he felt the earth quaked. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Little Gorilla lying on the ground lifelessly, surrounded by the elemental serpents.
Kaiju’s face remained emotionless, forgetting to deactivate the emotionless skill. He instantly arrived beside the elemental serpents, asking Ember, "What happened?"
Without waiting for Ember’s response, Kaiju tried to determine Little Gorilla’s health through the master and pet connection.
He is still alive.
"He must have overexerted himself." Ember glued his forehead at Little Gorilla’s back, on the latter’s heart. "His heartbeat is slow. He badly needs healing."
Even before Ember said the last sentence, Kaiju already took out the Scroll of Lesser Healing and Lesser Mana Recovery and used them on Little Gorilla. He took out the latter, believing Little Gorilla must have suffered from mana deficiency.
