Chapter 66: That Woman

Kaiju was stunned for a minute, and then replying dazedly, "Kaiju."

"Kaiju?" The Overlord rank beast guffawed once again. "Do you even know what that name means?"

"What is it?" Kaiju was curious.

"It means monster." The Overlord rank beast hummed for a while, contemplating. "That explains our compatibility. I am a war monster, you simply are a monster. Kaiju, it has been ages since I have laughed."

Kaiju was still in a daze but nodded anyway.

"You know, my underlings, they are always serious, they never treat me seriously. It has been boring for me. Thankfully, I did not kill you when I met you. Look at you now, you have grown so much. You can even fight one of my strongest soldiers."

Kaiju was delighted by his praise and lowered his head. "Thank you for the praise, Herforao."

Herforao blinked his purple gem eyes repeatedly and guffawed once again. "Oh, Kaiju, my happy pill. You even dared to call me by my name. I like you for that."

Kaiju was taken aback, not sure if Herforao was being sarcastic or not. He remained his head lowered, waiting for Herforao’s next actions. Suddenly, he perceived some movements occurring in front of him. For some reason, something massive vanished. He was curious, so he slowly tilted his head upward and was stunned to see a small old man, with long white hair, walking towards him while grasping a wooden stick.

He was certain it was still Herforao based on his aura, but it seemed he grew weaker on that form.

The small old man suddenly grumbled in annoyance, halted in front of him. "I always dislike this form, I feel vulnerable. My strength decreased a lot." He stared at Kaiju and meaningfully smiled at him. "You can even take me down."

Kaiju shook his head vigorously. "I don’t dare."

Herforao smiled. However, his face turned ugly when Snow suddenly appeared in front of him and attempted to bite his face. Snow’s size had grown considerably larger than before, she was almost the size of a human. Thankfully, Kaiju was still able to handle her weight whenever she stayed on her favorite place–his shoulder.

Herforao grinned and swung the wooden stick coated with much condensed light green mana, blocking Snow’s attack, but there was a stalemate for a second. Suddenly, Herforao’s purple gem’s eyes shone brightly and a light condensed mana was diffused from him, hitting Snow’s attack, breaking it with ease. Snow was flung back, her expression changed. She suddenly blinked and arrived beside Kaiju, recuperating from her wound.

Her previous place was overwhelmed by a light green mana diffused by Herforao. Kaiju was stunned when he caught it. If he was there, he would have felt the oppressiveness of the light green mana and he might have to counter it with his own–that is, if he had one. Since he could not, then, obviously, he would have to face Herforao with ten times the gravity assaulting him.

"Mana aura," he mumbled.

Herforao glanced at him and smiled. "You are correct. With my current state, Snow can obviously fight me, but my mana aura is not restrained. Hence, she might have a difficult time fighting me." He then stared at Snow meaningfully.

Snow, while still closing her eyes, recuperating–releasing frost magic to activate the effects of Cold Resistance, Rare Interaction, replied, "That means you are still strong. I was just testing you."

Herforao laughed lightly and shook his head. "Sorry for injuring her."

Kaiju hastily shook his head. "I am more sorry for her temper."

Snow was silent, being scolded by her master.

"Anyway, why do you know when we will raid the burg?" Kaiju asked.

"Because that woman said so." Herforao shook his head and sighed. "Although I am more willing to help you on this raid, convinced by your affinity with us, beasts, I have been ordered by that woman what to do during your raid.

Or after..."

"Why does she know though?" Kaiju was deeply curious.

Herforao sighed once again, seemingly heavier compared to before. He sat and gestured to Kaiju to sit near him. Kaiju followed, while Little Gorilla detached from his shoulder, feeling the coldness Snow radiated for her to recuperate, and ventured to the place filled with curiosity, activating his Divine Forager skill, wanting to search for treasure.

Kaiju smiled at him, glanced at Herforao, and saw him being indifferent so he did not restrain him. Kaiju was still curious about the topic, so he quickly put his mind into it.

"Even I don’t know what she is thinking. She obviously did not exist on this Trial, and yet, she managed to enter here despite her rank, perhaps higher than me. I can not even determine it."

"You can’t determine it?" Kaiju was in disbelief. "Did she perhaps use special means to ignore the Tower and enter this Trial? Aiming to wreak havoc?"

"There’s a high chance happening." Herforao nodded. "This Trial is the recorded history when the baron was in slumber and indeed other races at that time wanted to steal the treasure. I was also an Overlord rank beast trapped at that point in time. I can not remember now what happened after."

"I see." Kaiju tilted his head sideways. "But, can we focus on the main topic at hand? That woman?"

"It is related to that woman." Herforao shook his head. "Do you even know why I feared her? Because I met her in the recorded history. There is no doubt it was her. Now, she appeared again, but I am certain there is no way for her to be the clone inside the Trial. Players can not be the same player inside the Trial. Perhaps, the Vladislaus in slumber is not the Vladislaus known in the Tower. There is a high chance that the baron was possessed by a vampire player partaking in the Trial."

Kaiju was shaken, his thoughts fell into disorder. ’There is a high chance that the Bloodbound and the Crimson Knights we will be facing are vampire players participating in the trial, too!’

"How can you be so sure?"

"Because the Trial told me so. Beasts like me are born in the Tower. Beasts who lived outside became players once they entered the Tower, like Werewolves. The Trial only informed me about this information and told me I would perish once the Trial completed. Perhaps, the Tower wanted me to prevent both sides from completing the Trial, making it a Hellish Difficulty–that is supposed to be my main goal ever since I gained consciousness on this Trial.

However, everything changed when I met that woman."
