Gacha Player: My Luck is Multiplied 10x -
Chapter 38: Reunion
Chapter 38: Reunion
"Help me cook, Kaiju." Griffin ignored the infuriated Qwanisha.
Kaiju’s eyes lit up and quickly dashed forward, helping Griffin add the ingredients meticulously. Kaiju learned the basic Cooking skill, not by Gacha Draws or buying from stores, but from Griffin. It was all because his intelligence increased, aiding him to learn skills. That was how a player should learn a skill inside a tower, by obtaining it through efforts, not by some lucky draws.
Qwanisha tried her best to restrain herself, though she had been drooling. Although Max was a good chief, it was nothing compared to the spoiled brat, who had been trained with survival skills ever since he was born. She was surprised to hear Griffin asking Kaiju to help him cook. She smiled.
She mumbled, "Griffin finally found a friend."
Qwanisha recalled how distant Griffin was. The entire time they first met, Griffin gave her a cold treatment, being silent all the time she was teaching them about the world of the Hellish Trial and how to survive. Out of the three, he was the most promising one. Qwanisha was glad they finally had a talented offensive player but his battle style, seemingly preferred to be alone, was also a headache. Hence, Qwanisha asked Max to adjust and be Griffin’s shield.
With Kaiju’s appearance, Qwanisha was assured that Griffin was still a human, possessing attachment. Perhaps, Griffin was looking for a brother, rather than be tempted by seductive women surrounding him.
Qwanisha sighed in relief and smiled. She turned her head and her pupils suddenly contracted like how a bird would stare at the horizon. All her mini pupils reflected shadows, the crown of trees, and blue and red moonlight gleaming through. Yet, her pupils turned green, reflecting a moving existence coming towards them.
She said, "Max is coming."
She then swept her gaze and landed on the west, seeing another figure leaping towards them. "Faith is, too, just that... she’s riding your monkey pet, Kaiju."
Kaiju was stunned, almost messing up his cooking. Thankfully, he saved it at the last moment, avoiding the glare of Griffin. Kaiju continued his work while asking, "Riding Little Gorilla? But he is little..."
"Well." Qwanisha didn’t know whether to laugh and cry. "He had grown a bit."
"A bit..." Kaiju turned silent and just decided to focus on his cooking.
Qwanisha could empathize with how he felt, and helplessly searched for Lucy and Snow. At last, she found them, and they were nothing like Faith and Little Gorilla. Lucy was levitating forward at a pace similar to Snow’s slithering. Qwanisha admired Lucy’s talent as a mage and nodded. At the same time, although Snow didn’t seem to have an appearance change, her aura appeared more deadly and striking, even her movement was swift and silent despite her sensitive hearing as an awakened archer.
Qwanisha approved of their rapid growth. What was surprising though was...
She deactivated her skill and eyed Kaiju with her normal vision. Kaiju, despite smiling from ear to ear, helping Griffin add some ingredients on the massive boiling pot, appeared more refined and tempered. Not only did his character improve, even the strength he radiated was deadly, as well. What was surprising the most though was the Rare grade equipment he possessed.
Griffin, Lucy, and Faith grinded coins to buy from the Tower’s store a single Rare grade equipment for months, yet, in just three months, Kaiju had another two Rare grade artifacts? It was baffling. She wanted to ask Kaiju later but she decided to refrain. Everyone has secrets, and so was she. She must respect Kaiju’s secret as a case. After all, there were times Towers were being biased to a certain player, even to a whole race, giving them innate talent that made them at the top of the Tower’s hierarchy.
Qwanisha closed her eyes and opened them again, as they flashed with determination and strong-willed. They must successfully complete the Trial at all cost, to finally leave the hellish place and conquer the Trial, bringing the human race to a higher height.
As she was lost in thought, she was awakened from her reverie. Max finally arrived, saying, "They are already cooking. It’s been a long time since we met, Kaiju."
Kaiju’s eyes lit up, glanced at Max, and nodded, continuing on with his work.
"It has been a long time, big brother Max."
"Big brother..." Max exploded in a hoot of laughter.
"Kaiju!" Qwanisha complained. "Why did you call him big brother, while you called me aunt?"
Kaiju was lost for words.
He replied, not giving her a side glance, "Well, you just corrected me. Don’t worry, I’ll call you aunt from now on."
Suddenly, Griffin, who was just listening, mumbled enough for them to hear, "These two fossils really believed they are still young. Wake up, you’re past your age, your era, your world. Your very existence should already be studied by scientists and deemed as the same race of our ancestor, the homo sapiens."
Kaiju was taken aback. That was such an insult that even he could not take it. He was lost for words. As expected, another roar came right after.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!!"
Qwanisha was fuming in rage. She already drew her bow and aimed at Griffin.
However, for some reason, Griffin stood behind the massive pot with his apathetic expression, casually adjusting the fire with his wind elemental power. Qwanisha snorted.
"Don’t think I can’t hit you despite standing in front of the precious object. You’re underestimating me."
"Alright. That’s enough." Max intervened, feeling visibly helpless. He glanced at Griffin and said, "Your tongue is still deadly as always, Griffin. Stop agitating my dear."
When she heard what Max called her, Qwanisha calmed down somewhat. She lowered her bow and placed it behind her back, still glaring at Griffin. Kaiju was straining his neck, sweeping his gaze on Griffin and Qwanisha, sighing in relief the situation did not turn to worse. He took a glance at Griffin and helplessly said, "You really know how to insult, teacher. Even I almost laughed at it."
"You should have," replied Griffin calmly. "I was aiming for it in the first place. Perhaps, the bow might not be targeting me, but you."
Kaiju was stunned, speechless. He turned to Qwanisha, glanced at her exquisite violet jade bow, and quivered in terror. If Qwanisha aimed that bow on him instead, he doubted he could react on time. He might have to rely on the Shadoweave Battlegarb’s effect–20% chance of evading, yet it seemed it would be futile.
Kaiju returned to help Griffin’s cooking when the latter stopped him. "It’s enough. I can take this henceforth. You should be greeting your pet," said Griffin while taking a sip of the pot’s boiling broth.
Kaiju was stunned but then felt the telepathy message by the Little Gorilla. He eagerly turned his head and saw Little Gorilla being ridden by Faith. He ignored Faith and leapt forward waiting for Little Gorilla to shake Faith off. However, he did not, even stopping and asking permission for Faith to leave his back, until Faith willingly jumped off.
Kaiju was distressed somewhat, but since, like how he treats Griffin, Little Gorilla treats Faith with respect, he had to acknowledge it.
Kaiju then focused on Little Gorilla, who leapt towards his embrace, hugging him tightly.
"I miss you, Little Gorilla!" Kaiju couldn’t help but exclaim.
