Chapter 894: Blade of Endurance
Chapter 894: Blade of Endurance
She wasn’t allowed to use the Eight Gods Blades, and each attack had to be a simple blade swing.
That statement, which seemed ordinary at first, might actually hold the key to defeating the Devil Ghost.
If blade swings couldn’t kill it, there would be no reason for Master to insist on such repetitive blade strikes. Amalia glanced again at the Devil Ghost, still relentlessly attacking her.
The Devil Ghost wasn’t very powerful—it was something she could handle—but because it was constantly moving and counterattacking with all its might, she had to not only strike with her blade but also dodge it’s attack continuously. How could she focus on refining her technique under these conditions?
Amalia finally understood what kind of training this was meant to be.
This test wasn’t just about her blade skills; it was also about her willpower and patience.
When you keep swinging your blade and miss each time, while the Devil Ghost remains unharmed and full of energy, you lose not only your physical strength but also your spiritual energy. Can you still keep your heart steady and remain determined?
It was incredibly difficult.
Now that she understood this, Amalia finally realized why her Master had given her five months and why others had failed.
Staring at the charging Devil Ghost, Amalia’s heart gradually calmed. This was just the beginning—how could she waver now? Even knowing the challenges ahead, her desire to become stronger remained unchanged.
But how could she get the Devil Ghost to stay still and let her strike it over and over?
Amalia lowered her gaze, deep in thought.
Perhaps she should have first learned Elder Bomen’s simplified version of the Heavenfall Annihilation Formation. But learning that formation would take too much time, and time was already tight.
Never before had Amalia realized the importance of time. She used to think she had plenty of it.
High above the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm, Tian Wuya stood there watching Amalia, observing her frown and a faint trace of frustration showing on her face. She couldn’t help but smile slightly.
"Two months... Let’s see how you figure this out," she murmured.
In the depths of the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm, Amalia no longer swung her blade easily. After realizing that simple blade strikes couldn’t harm the Devil Ghost, she decided to try a different strategy.
She took out some artifact she had made from her storage ring. There were many of them, all designed for setting up formations.
Amalia placed these artifact within a specific area and set up a trapping formation. Her plan was to lure the Devil Ghost into this trap, immobilize it, and then test her blade technique.
When Tian Wuya saw her take out the artifact, she immediately understood her intention. She smiled slightly, but her expression remained unreadable.
Others had tried this method before, but none of them had managed to persist until the end.
The mindless Devil Ghost quickly fell into Amalia’s trap, just as she had planned. Once the formation activated, the Devil Ghost couldn’t escape.
Amalia stood in front of the formation with the blade in her hand, watching the Devil Ghost slam into the barrier repeatedly. She swung her blade again.
Once more, the blade light passed through the Devil Ghost without leaving a mark. Without using the True Sun Spirit Method or the Eight Gods Blades, it was indeed hard to produce an attack that could harm the Devil Ghost.
Amalia frowned. Could she really kill this Devil Ghost without using those techniques?
She wasn’t sure, but since her Master had set these rules, there had to be a way. She just hadn’t figured it out yet.
Maybe the point wasn’t to develop a new blade technique or find a shortcut but to solve the problem through sheer persistence.
If that was the case, Amalia’s resolve grew stronger. She would give it a try.
She began to swing her blade repeatedly. Each strike hit the Devil Ghost in the formation, but every time, the blade passed through its body as if dealing only physical damage. Since her Master had forbidden other methods, she didn’t try any magical attacks, even though she suspected they might work.
She wasn’t here to simply find a way to kill the Devil Ghost—she was here to become stronger.
The sky above the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm was always shrouded in thick black fog, hiding the sun and moon. It was impossible to tell whether it was day or night. The place was always in a misty gloom.
Amalia kept swinging her blade, seemingly tireless, until she lost track of how much time had passed.
The Devil Ghost remained trapped in the formation, still trying to break free. It hadn’t stopped, and neither had Amalia. After a few days, no matter how fast she absorbed spiritual energy, it couldn’t keep up with the constant drain. Her aim wavered, and one strike missed the Devil Ghost.
Amalia leaned on her blade, swallowing several spiritual recovery pills. The medicine quickly restored her energy.
After a while, her depleted spiritual energy filled her meridians once again.
But continuing like this wasn’t a long-term solution. Amalia stared at the flickering light of the formation. Standing still and slashing endlessly didn’t seem to be working. She decided to adjust the formation.
The old formation, weakened by the Devil Ghost’s constant attacks, had nearly run out of power.
The new formation she set up was twice as large, giving the Devil Ghost more room to move. It could still only move within a limited space.
This made striking it even harder.
"Always trying clever tricks," Tian Wuya murmured from above.
Amalia didn’t care, as long as it worked.
The more mobile Devil Ghost was now harder to hit. Even though it lacked intelligence, it could still dodge.
Time passed, though she couldn’t tell how long.
Amalia’s arm grew more and more sore, and every time she felt her spiritual energy running low, she took another pill. The constant intake of medicine, combined with absorbing the spiritual energy in the air, allowed her to keep going. Slowly, she began to notice some changes.
