Chapter 820: Skyward City (Part 1)
Baolin Jia was overjoyed, "So in the future, if there are any needs, can I come to you for help?"
"What kind of needs?" Amalia didn’t immediately agree.
If he needed more capital, she’d have to see if she had enough spirit stones at the time.
If it weren’t for Kenny Lin absorbing so many resources earlier, those 100,000 top-grade spirit stones might not have been available.
"For the bank to grow, it’s impossible without a strong backing. It might attract some jealousy, and we may need to use your name for protection."
Baolin Jia spoke cautiously.
"You’re right. If anyone tries to cause trouble for the bank, you can come to us anytime, or you can find Renshu Chang and have him notify us." Amalia nodded.
"Thank you, Martial Aunt!" Baolin Jia suddenly felt complete satisfaction.
"If there’s nothing else, we’ll be on our way," Amalia stood up, already sensing the urging gaze from Kenny Lin.
Just as Baolin Jia was about to nod, he suddenly remembered something, "There is one more thing! Do either of you have suggestions for the bank’s name? Maybe we could call it ’Golden Bank’?"
Amalia couldn’t help but laugh, "No need. The name doesn’t matter. You can even just call it Cultivator Bank."
"So I should really call it Cultivator Bank?" Baolin Jia, of course, wanted a name that would immediately make people easy to recognize.
"Why are you wasting so much time on this? Call it whatever you want!" Kenny Lin, having held back for a while, finally lost patience.
Baolin Jia was startled.
After they left, his racing heart finally settled.
Martial Aunt is much more pleasant; while Junior Master Uncle is just too irritable.
In the future, he’ll avoid dealing with him.
After leaving Nephrite Pill Peak, Kenny Lin’s pace noticeably quickened.
To Amalia, it looked as though he was practically flying.
"Can’t you walk a bit faster?" Kenny Lin noticed that Amalia had fallen behind and immediately turned back to urge her on.
"What’s the difference between walking fast or slow? You’ve held back for two days, and now you can’t wait any longer?" Amalia said calmly, as usual.
Kenny Lin pursed his lips and muttered, "Well, it’s because I’m a pure and innocent man."
Amalia nearly choked on her own saliva, "Aren’t you ashamed to say that?"
"Why should I be ashamed? It’s the truth," Kenny Lin replied nonchalantly.
"Even if we leave here, we’ll still need to find a place. Rushing it won’t make it come any faster," Amalia said with composure.
Kenny Lin, having been talked down, was no longer in a rush.
After all, there was no escape for him this time, "Fine, I’ll listen to you. We’ll take our time to find a spot."
...
The bustling crowd of this city was a stark contrast to the silence of the Nameless Peak.
The endless noise washed over them instantly—vendors calling out loudly, cultivators pausing at stalls, curiously examining the goods, or haggling with the sellers.
Besides cultivators, there were also a few ordinary humans mixed in.
Here, cultivators and ordinary humans seemed to coexist in harmony.
Ordinary humans of Mystic Void Continent were deeply respectful of cultivators.
Some of them, upon seeing cultivators from afar, would stop to bow, while others would step aside to allow the cultivators to pass first.
When Amalia and Kenny Lin arrived, they encountered an old man who insisted on bowing to them.
The two originally planned to find a more secluded town, but somehow ended up here instead.
Skyward City was two hundred miles away from the Green Lotus Sect and the largest city within that radius.
For cultivators, two hundred miles was but a short journey.
The grand and imposing city walls bore the weight of centuries of culture, and the atmosphere was filled with constant laughter and cheer—a stark contrast to the grim devil battlefields, where life was much harsher.
This was why ordinary humans of Mystic Void Continent often bowed to cultivators.
They knew that without the cultivators fighting off the devils and demonic beast, they wouldn’t have the peaceful, happy lives they now enjoyed.
They wanted the cultivators to feel their respect.
Skyward City had separate gates for ordinary humans and cultivators, but since there were fewer ordinary humans than cultivators here, the gate for ordinary humans was actually less crowded.
Amalia and Kenny Lin, however, didn’t get to enjoy any special privileges and waited in line just like everyone else to enter the city.
Upon entering, the hustle and bustle of the city hit them even harder than outside.
Ordinary humans of Skyward City were very enthusiastic toward cultivators.
The two of them randomly asked someone about the location of the largest inn in the city, and immediately got an answer.
Moments later, they stood at the entrance of the inn.
"This inn looks fancy enough, don’t you think?" Amalia asked Kenny Lin.
Kenny Lin nodded his head in satisfaction, "It’s barely acceptable—fits us well enough."
"Ha, Nine Celestial Inn is owned by the city lord of Skyward City and is the highest-class establishment in town. You should consider yourselves lucky to even step foot in here," a young cultivator passing by overheard their conversation and immediately retorted.
Coincidentally he’s a fan of the inn.
Amalia glanced at him.
They didn’t come here to start trouble, so she didn’t respond.
"And how high-class is it, exactly?" Kenny Lin squinted at him.
The young cultivator, with an expression like he was about to reveal something shocking, said, "Do you know how many spirit stones it costs to stay here for just one night? Don’t be scared— the worst room costs at least ten top-grade spirit stones. The best rooms? Less than a hundred wouldn’t even get you in. Do you know why it’s so expensive? Because Nine Celestial Inn is the only inn in Skyward City where the rooms are equipped with formations."
Kenny Lin immediately turned around to Amalia and said, "I didn’t expect rooms with formations to be so cheap! We came to the right place. Let’s go in and see if they still have any available rooms."
