Chapter 821: Skyward City (Part 2)
With that, he pulled her inside, not noticing the young cultivator behind them, whose eyes nearly popped out when he heard Kenny Lin call it "cheap."
The young cultivator, unwilling to believe it, decided to follow them.
He wanted to see for himself if these two people were truly that wealthy.
What if they were just putting on a show to make him look bad?
The best rooms in Skyward City weren’t that easily booked, not because they were always full, but because the price was genuinely exorbitant.
Very few cultivators could afford them, and even if someone could, they wouldn’t stay long.
So the finest rooms often had vacancies.
When the innkeeper heard that they wanted the best room—one with both soundproofing and spirit-gathering formations—he couldn’t have been happier.
Rooms with both formations combined were even more expensive, costing three times more than the young cultivator had mentioned—three hundred top-grade spirit stones per night.
Seeing them easily pay for several nights’ stay, the young cultivator who had followed them had no face to linger around anymore and slinked away in shame.
"Honored guests, this is your room," the innkeeper said, personally escorting them.
The room was spacious, with two beds inside and out, each large enough to accommodate three or four adults comfortably.
Kenny Lin inspected the room, visibly pleased, and shouted, "A tip!"
The innkeeper’s face immediately lit up with a smile.
Amalia shot him a glare before taking out a top-grade spirit stone and handing it to the innkeeper, who thanked them profusely before leaving.
"A room for three hundred top-grade spirit stones a night—worth every stone," Kenny Lin said as he walked around, his favorite part being the large bed inside.
It looked like it could handle several rounds of wild activity between the two of them without any issues.
As soon as he finished, he noticed Amalia wasn’t responding.
Turning around, he saw her busy in one corner of the room.
"What are you doing?" Kenny Lin asked, approaching her.
"Setting up a formation," Amalia replied as she carefully drew new formation patterns and activated them with a few top-grade spirit stones.
"Isn’t there already a formation in the room? The spiritual energy here is indeed denser than outside," Kenny Lin said, still quite satisfied.
"Better safe than sorry."
Amalia couldn’t be bothered to explain further, knowing Kenny Lin wouldn’t really listen anyway.
Kenny Lin didn’t ask any more questions and, for once, he sat quietly on the edge of the bed, waiting.
His burning gaze never left her as she worked.
Once Amalia seemed to have finished, he said, "My wife, it’s about time. Your husband has been waiting for you for a long while now."
Amalia finally completed the formation and confirmed there were no issues before walking over to him.
Once she stood in front of him, she began to strip off her robe, her movements crisp and decisive.
Kenny Lin’s throat suddenly felt parched, and he stared unblinkingly at her actions.
His voice became raspy as he said, "You’ve been holding out on me for so long—what’s changed? Now you’re so eager, it’s almost unlike you."
"What do you think dual cultivation is? Didn’t you read that dual cultivation technique?" Amalia shot him a glance.
Was this guy getting too excited?
"Dual cultivation is just about two people blending together, isn’t it?" Kenny Lin said as he watched her strip off her top, leaving only a thin undergarment.
Her long, straight legs were partially exposed, and just the sight of it had made the thing below feel hard.
He didn’t dare look further up, afraid that he might get a nosebleed.
Amalia chuckled, "Ha, you’ll find out soon enough if it’s just that."
Hearing this, Kenny Lin’s face turned skeptical.
Meeting her eyes, which carried a hint of mischief, he suddenly had a bad premonition.
Three days later, the innkeeper at Nine Celestial Inn was at the counter calculating the day’s earnings when a cultivator named Kim Nie, who managed the inn’s back courtyard, approached him.
"Manager Gao, has business been particularly good at the inn recently?" Kim Nie asked.
Manager Gao immediately thought of the two VIP customers who had been staying in the premium room for three days.
He had even received a top-grade spirit stone as a tip, which was rare.
Even if wealthy guests tipped, it was usually only a few middle-grade spirit stones.
Smiling, he nodded, "Yes, business has been quite good."
"No wonder," Kim Nie sighed lightly, wearing an expression of realization.
"What do you mean? What’s the matter?" Manager Gao asked curiously.
"The inn’s spiritual energy consumption over the past few days has been twice the usual amount. I was wondering if something was wrong." Now, he finally understood the reason.
"Two or three times more?" Manager Gao was shocked, "How could it exceed that much? Are you sure there’s no mistake?"
"No mistake," Kim Nie responded, "Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come to ask you. It started three days ago."
Manager Gao suddenly remembered—three days ago was when those two guests had checked into the inn.
He quickly relayed this information to Kim Nie.
Kim Nie furrowed his brow, "If that’s the case, then the source must be related to those two. Have they not left their room at all since they arrived?"
"No, I’ve had people check on them occasionally, but the door hasn’t opened once in three days. They’re likely cultivating inside. Should we send someone to knock and check on them?" If they continued consuming spiritual energy at this rate, no amount of rent would cover the loss.
What he had thought were two wealthy patrons now filled Manager Gao with regret.
Kim Nie thought for a moment, then shook his head, "Forget it. If they’re cultivating inside, barging in could easily offend them. Anyone who books a premium room without blinking an eye is likely to have some significant background. It’s not worth making enemies over something like this."
"So, we just ignore it for now?"
