Chapter 545: Ying-Yang Pearl (Part 1)
Wealth, the small creature with them, suddenly chirped at Amalia, rubbing its paws together.
"Don’t worry, I’m not blaming you," Amalia said, misunderstanding its intent.
Kenny Lin turned to look at Wealth for a moment, "Does it look guilty to you?" he asked Amalia, puzzled.
Amalia was unsure.
Wealth sighed, its throat bobbing before it spat out a black, translucent crystal onto Amalia’s palm — one of the black fragments it had previously swallowed.
Amalia was speechless.
Kenny Lin chuckled, thoughtfully stroking his chin, "So, it can regurgitate the crystals it swallowed. Its body must function like a storage room."
Amalia picked up the black fragment with two fingers, took a deep breath, and resisted the urge to scold the creature in front of her, reminding herself to be kind to their ally.
"Now, spit out the other two pieces."
Reluctantly, Wealth obeyed, and as it regurgitated the remaining two black fragments, its energy visibly waned.
Amalia offered it a few high-level crystal cores.
Wealth eagerly grabbed them and began munching like a mouse with a treat.
Exhausted from expelling the three black fragments, Wealth needed to replenish its energy.
Amalia handed the three black fragments to Kenny Lin, who placed them near the Yin-Yang Pearl.
The fragments were immediately absorbed into the pearl.
Simultaneously, the Yin-Yang Pearl burst into a dazzling light, pushing back the violent energy from the rift.
However, this strength was fleeting.
Soon, the white side of the pearl dimmed rapidly while the black side grew more intense.
"It seems we still need more energy," Amalia observed, looking at Kenny Lin.
Kenny Lin absorbed spiritual energy from the surroundings, channeling it into the Yin-Yang Pearl.
Eventually, the rate at which he could absorb energy couldn’t keep up with how fast he was transferring it.
However, the whirlpool on the sea’s surface finally ceased.
Angered, the Primal Megalodon issued a command.
The surrounding seawater began to tremble, transmitting waves toward the spatial rift.
Without the threat of the death whirlpool, countless marine-type mutated creatures dived into the water, swiftly moving toward Amalia and Kenny Lin.
One of the mutated creatures charged directly with its massive body.
With a dull thud, it crashed as if into a solid wall, failing to break through and instead being pushed back.
In order to get through, all the marine-type mutated creatures teamed up, beginning to ram against the defensive array that Amalia had set up on the outermost perimeter.
The defensive array absorbed a significant amount of energy, but it was purely defensive.
Soon, due to the excessive operational speed and the immense force it was enduring, fine cracks appeared on the array’s surface.
With the continuous attacks, these cracks grew larger.
Eventually, it could no longer withstand the pressure, and the buried array devices exploded one by one.
After a tremor in the water curtain, it disappeared.
With the barrier gone, the marine-type mutated creatures, baring their sharp teeth and claws, roared and surged forward.
The leaders were all high-level marine-type mutated creatures.
As they charged into the strangulation array, Amalia immediately activated the formation.
The dormant power of the strangulation array erupted instantly and unleashing torrents of violent energy.
The black energy engulfed all the high-level mutated creatures within the array and assaulting them from all directions.
The screams echoed incessantly.
This sight both surprised and delighted Amalia.
The strangulation array absorbed the chaotic energy from the spatial rift, which contained violent energy.
Once it was absorbed, this energy transformed into the sharpest weapon, easily slicing through the thick and tough skin of the high-level mutated creatures.
Blood seeped out, dyeing the water within the array red, with severed limbs faintly visible.
The marine-type mutated creatures that followed were stunned by this scene, stopping in their tracks, too frightened to advance further.
Rarely venturing onto land or encountering humans, these marine-type mutated creatures had no idea what had happened.
They thought there was an immensely powerful human on the other side and capable of killing their leaders with a mere gesture.
As the screams from within the strangulation array grew fainter, Amalia did not halt the formations-type spiritual artifact.
As the one who set up the array, she knew the situation inside perfectly well.
Despite its formidable nature and the assistance of the spatial rift’s violent energy, the strangulation array alone was not entirely sufficient to kill so many high-level mutated creatures.
It worked well the first time, catching them off guard, but it would be less effective a second time.
Amalia glanced back at Kenny Lin.
In order to kill the high-level mutated creatures within the array, she would need to enter it herself, leaving no one to guard Kenny Lin.
"Amalia, Kenny."
Just then, a somewhat familiar voice called down from above.
Amalia looked up to see two people swimming down—one was Zanilia Zhao, and the other, surprisingly, was Mikel Sabate’s father, Nicholas Sabate.
She had only met him once or twice, which explained the familiarity.
"Why are you here?"
"If we didn’t come, how would you hold out?" Nicholas Sabate glanced worriedly at Kenny Lin that was not far behind her, "What’s wrong with Kenny?"
"He’s fine but he can’t afford any distractions now. I’ll explain later. You’re here just in time—help me guard him while I enter the array for a moment," Amalia said, sensing that the high-level mutated creatures inside the strangulation array were about to break free.
"Leave it to us," Nicholas Sabate said, understanding the urgency, and without another word, he prepared to assist her.
Zanilia Zhao nodded her head in agreement; she had come here to help them.
Amalia glanced at Kenny Lin one more time before entering the strangulation array.
Inside the array, the high-level mutated creatures had no idea that the person controlling the array had joined them.
Several high-level mutated creatures who is gathered, trying to break from the array together when suddenly, the water flow became turbulent.
A violent current separated one of the high-level mutated creatures from the others.
