Chapter 1155: The Battle for Noctis
He swallowed his saliva hard and forcing himself to remain composed as he sneered, "The Prince’s strength is beyond comparison to General Aelra. You think you stand a chance?"
"That’s good," Amalia said with a twisted smirk. "I enjoy a challenge. Humans are too weak—there’s no thrill in it. Just when I was getting bored, you people showed up."
A flash of anger crossed Velzok’s face. "You’re dreaming. If you dare to face the Prince, he will kill you and avenge us all."
"Where is your Prince? Is he in the Erythar Star System? Is that the main battlefield?"
"Why would I tell you? If you have the guts, kill me." Velzok sneered defiantly.
Amalia swung his sword.
Velzok’s body split in two, severed cleanly at the waist.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
He had killed him without hesitation.
Hadn’t he said she would let him go to deliver the message?
Kenny Lin narrowed his eyes and smiled maliciously. "Did you really think I’d let you live? That was just for my own amusement—but you actually believed it."
Velzok died with his eyes wide open, unresigned to his fate.
Not long after that, Khalil walked in cautiously.
He had overheard the conversation from behind and was surprised to discover that Kenny Lin had such a twisted sense of humor.
"Mr. Kenny, just now, you were asking about the aliens—do you really want to know?"
Kenny Lin cast a frosty gaze in his direction. "You know?"
"I know a few things. If you want to know, I can tell you everything," Khalil replied carefully.
He dared not provoke this harbinger of death.
"Speak."
Kenny Lin sheathed his sword and sat casually on a mecha while looking down at him from above.
"Then I’ll start from the beginning," Khalil cleared his throat. "Andromeda Universe—that’s what the aliens call our universe. At first, we humans didn’t even know about it. The universe is vast, containing countless star systems, but humans have only developed nine of them."
"The Erythar Star System is just one of the more remote ones. Its development lags behind the others, but because of the great distances between star systems, wars between them rarely break out."
"In terms of development among the nine systems, Erythar Star System ranks somewhere in the lower middle. That means it’s not exactly a primary target for alien aggression."
"You mentioned the Andarion Star System earlier—does that count among them?" Kenny Lin interrupted.
Khalil shook his head. "No, the Andarion Star System was only detected because it’s relatively close, but due to certain issues within the system, it was never developed."
"Where is the aliens’ main military power concentrated?"
"Most likely in the Pleiades Star System. The humans there are generally much stronger, making them a slightly tougher nut to crack for the aliens."
"In other words, still crackable."
Khalil’s mouth twitched slightly. "Yes. It’s probably because Pleiades Star System has richer resources, so the aliens have gathered their main fleet there."
"What about this Prince of Doomsday? If the Erythar Star System is only mid-to-low tier in strength, then according to that dead alien, this Prince of Doomsday should be one of the stronger members of their royal family. So why is he here?"
"I don’t know the exact details, but it’s said that the Prince of Doomsday isn’t under the jurisdiction of the Monarch. Apparently, the higher-ranking royals aren’t in this universe, so he pretty much does as he pleases. No one among the aliens can stop him."
"Keep going."
Amalia gathered her thoughts. "The main battlefield in the Erythar Star System is likely near Planet Veloxia."
"The aliens want to take over the Erythar Star System as quickly as possible, and to do that, they must strike the Draconis Empire first. If they can crush the empire, the rest of the star system’s inhabitants will fall without resistance."
"Fall without resistance?" Kenny Lin shot her a glance. "Are you people really that weak?"
Khalil felt like crying inside.
He rarely interacted with him before and had no idea his personality was like this.
Every sentence out of his mouth left him struggling for words.
"It’s not that," he explained. "The Draconis Empire is the spiritual pillar of the Erythar Star System. If the empire falls, that cohesion will be lost—"
"That’s enough. I’m not interested in hearing this," Kenny Lin cut his off with a wave of his hand.
Khalil choked back his words. "According to the information General received recently, the aliens in the Erythar Star System are planning a major move."
"There will be a lot of deaths, won’t there?"
Khalil didn’t understand why he asked something so obvious but dared not question him.
"Yes."
Kenny Lin jumped down from the mecha. "That works. As for the ship outside, do as you see fit."
"They won’t be able to contact the aliens on board. They’ll realize something’s wrong—maybe they already have."
"Let them," Kenny Lin said with a cold smile. "They’ll assume Aelra did it, trying to keep Planet Noctis all for himself."
With that, he walked away.
Khalil sighed and hurried back to the control room to report her findings to Officer Khan.
The commander remained unfazed.
"I expected this. No helping it. Let’s take care of that ship outside first. Half an hour should be enough."
The massive cosmic battleship shifted its cannons and launched a surprise attack.
The beams of energy cannon fire streaked toward the Skeleton Ship.
It was as if the Skeleton Ship had been prepared for this, dodging most of the blasts.
However, its tail was struck by a direct hit, causing the entire vessel to shake violently.
"Damn it! Aelra is trying to kill us! Velzok and the others are probably dead already," Gryphion’s eyes turned bloodshot.
"But why? What does he gain from this?" Thalaxia couldn’t understand.
"What else? Look at Planet Noctis’s situation. He wants to take the entire energy planet for himself without letting us know. If the Prince finds out, he’ll demand most of the energy for himself."
