Chapter 1123: Luring the Captains

The aliens’ sense of superiority quickly evaporated, revealing them to be no different from the humans they derided.

If they were truly capable, they wouldn’t be stuck in such a menial role, nor would they live in constant fear of others.

Amalia exchanged a glance with Kenny Lin, the latter offering a sly smile.

"Which two Mecha Captains are coming? Can you tell us? I really admire those captains. They’re so strong. If I could be like them, leading a Mecha squad, that would be amazing," Kenny Lin said, feigning admiration.

"I heard it’s Captain Xevra and Captain Noryn. Captain Noryn is my idol—I wish I could be like him."

"I think Captain Xevra is impressive too. I heard he led his Mecha squad last month to slaughter a million humans and buried them in a mass grave. Even their generals didn’t dare say a word about it," another alien countered.

"Captain Noryn wiped out hundreds of thousands of human soldiers. That’s far more impressive than slaughtering a million unarmed humans," retorted the first alien.

The two aliens began to argue, each defending their idol.

Unable to resolve the debate, they simultaneously turned to Kenny Lin.

"Kysha, what do you two think? Who’s stronger, Captain Noryn or Captain Xevra?"

"Why don’t we discuss this in a room? I’m sure we can come to a conclusion that will satisfy both of you," Kenny Lin replied with a mischievous smile, which, unfortunately, neither alien noticed.

"You two go ahead. I’ll stand guard outside. If anyone comes, I’ll let you know," Amalia said.

"Alright!" the two aliens agreed in unison. Without needing further encouragement, they voluntarily walked into the nearby room.

Ten minutes later, Kenny Lin emerged from the room, a faint scent of blood lingering on him, though it quickly dissipated.

"How did it go?" Amalia asked, leaning casually against the wall.

"Their current identities won’t allow us to get close to the core of the battleship’s power structure. It’s better to find two people with higher ranks," Amalia mused.

Amalia thought for a moment and smiled faintly. "It seems like the right candidates are on their way. One for each of us?"

"Sure, let’s see who finishes their task faster..."

"Let’s begin then," Amalia interrupted swiftly, cutting him off mid-sentence.

She noticed Kenny Lin giving her a look of feigned grievance.

"I wasn’t finished speaking."

"I already understand. That’s enough," Amalia replied.

She recalled their last wager, which had resulted in a daily kiss.

If they were to bet again, she had no doubt he’d propose something like more outrageous.

"Didn’t expect you to know me so well already. But I still don’t have a... ’deep’ understanding of you. How about we deepen our exchange further?" Kenny Lin teased.

"I don’t think that’s necessary. We’ve had plenty of exchanges already," Amalia said with a blank expression.

She straightened up and turned around to intercept the aliens.

Kenny Lin smirked smugly as he followed her.

He hadn’t expected Amalia to agree but he enjoyed teasing her from time to time.

At a fork in the hallway, the two parted ways.

They had sensed two groups of aliens—one heading right and the other left.

Amalia hurried down her chosen path, striding through the silver corridor.

Before long, she spotted a group of aliens heading toward her and quickened her pace.

"Captain Xevra!" she called out.

Xevra noticed a low-ranking alien approaching.

The fervent look in their eyes was one he knew well—many of his admirers gazed at him in the same way.

His sense of superiority made him revel in such admiration, though he disliked associating with low-ranking aliens.

He was about to turn a corner to ignore the subordinate when one of his officers spoke up.

"Captain, this one seems to be in charge of guarding this sector. Perhaps we can ask if they’ve noticed anything unusual."

"Good point," Xevra replied, immediately signaling for the alien to be brought over.

"Captain, I..."

Xevra cut them off sharply. "Let me ask you: have you noticed anything unusual here? Speak truthfully, and this captain won’t forget your contribution."

Amalia feigned hesitation, pretending to ponder. "I haven’t seen anything too unusual, but..."

"What do you mean by ’but’?" Xevra thought Amalia might have discovered something significant.

"Ah, nothing. It’s just... I’m not sure. When I came here earlier, I thought I saw Captain Noryn heading that way," Amalia replied hesitantly.

"Noryn found out so quickly?" Xevra cursed under his breath. "Damn it. Take me there immediately!"

"But Captain Noryn’s men seem to be in that area. If we all go together, they might notice," Amalia said, feigning hesitation.

Xevra frowned and instructed his subordinates, "You stay here and wait for me."

"Yes, Captain," his men replied without objection.

"Lead the way immediately!" Xevra barked.

Amalia took the lead, walking at a deliberate pace.

After being urged twice by Xevra to speed up, she finally picked up her pace.

Along the way, she boldly used an alien communication terminal to contact Kenny Lin and confirm his location.

"What are you doing?" Xevra glared at the lower-ranking alien, annoyed that she dared to chat while leading the way.

"Captain Xevra, I needed to inform my colleague. It was my colleague who alerted Captain Noryn to the anomaly. When I heard you were coming, I rushed over to find you," Amalia explained.

Xevra dropped his suspicion immediately.

Trusting her, he followed her closely, unknowingly walking into a deadly trap.

Amalia led him to the energy room. "It’s here. Earlier, there seemed to be some strange noises coming from inside."

Xevra remembered that this location was indeed the closest to the suddenly appeared spacecraft.

This kid wasn’t lying.

He eagerly pushed past Amalia and strode into the energy room.

"Noryn, don’t think you can steal my glory—"

Before he could finish, a head suddenly flew toward him.

Xevra instinctively caught it, only to come face-to-face with Noryn’s lifeless eyes, still holding a trace of fear.

Squelch!

A blade pierced through Xevra’s back and emerged from his chest, stabbing directly into Noryn’s forehead.
