Chapter 1110: The Sudden Retreat

"Yes, sir. The squad definitely went to planet Shadron. However, we currently have no information on what’s happening there. It’s a remote and worthless location, so no monitoring personnel were stationed there."

"Have you attempted further contact with them?"

"We tried, but we still couldn’t get through. We also attempted to contact others, but none of them were successful."

This was one of the reasons they realized how serious the situation was.

The alien officer, sensing the gravity of the matter, immediately commanded, "Contact the mecha squad on planet Lumora right now and have them head to Shadron immediately!"

"Yes, sir."

The subordinate promptly connected with personnel stationed on Lumora.

It didn’t take long for the communication to go through.

"Lorrik, take a few mecha squads and head to Shadron right away," the alien officer said decisively to the fellow alien on the screen.

"What are we going to Shadron for? From what I recall, it’s practically a dead planet now, with fewer than 100,000 humans living there," Lorrik replied indifferently.

Lorrik had once fought on Shadron, where he personally killed the human commander of that planet.

"The situation has changed. You’ll be briefed on the way about what happened. For now, just get your troops over there immediately, and do it quickly," the officer said sternly.

"Is this more critical than the tasks I’m handling right now?" Lorrik asked.

"Yes," the officer replied without hesitation.

"Understood. I’ll take my troops there right away."

Lorrik stopped questioning and ending the communication.

"Boss, why did Commander Soril suddenly order us to go to Shadron?" a subordinate asked after Lorrik cut off the call.

Lorrik’s face was calm. "Probably because Lumora is the closest one to Shadron. If the mothership over there were to send reinforcements, it would take half a day, which would be too late."

"What about these humans?" A subordinate glanced maliciously at the human city in front of them.

They were here to completely subjugate Lumora.

The humans on this planet were particularly stubborn.

If they hadn’t had some value left, they would have been wiped out half a year ago.

"Leave them here for now. They’re not going anywhere," another subordinate shrugged.

"Right, Lumora is fully under our surveillance. If they had any means of escape, they would’ve fled long ago. They wouldn’t still be here," one of the aliens sneered.

A hulking alien spat on the ground. "Those humans are lucky."

"Let them live a little longer," Lorrik said calmly, then turned around to leave. "Pack up. We’re heading to Shadron to see who dares to interfere with our plans."

"Didn’t get my fill of killing today. I remember Shadron has humans too. This time, I won’t hold back. I need a proper slaughter," a subordinate immediately responded.

"What’s the rush? They’re not going anywhere."

"How can I not rush? There are fewer than 100,000 humans left on Shadron. Killing them all wouldn’t even be enough to satisfy me."

"Lorrik, I’m warning you, don’t hog all the prey. I haven’t killed any humans in days. I thought I’d finally get to go wild here on Lumora but now we have to head to Shadron before I even start."

"Then you’d better hurry up. If you’re slower than me, don’t expect me to leave you anything."

The aliens bantered as they left.

Behind them, several Cosmorite Mecha squads received their orders.

They quickly regrouped and returned to the ships hovering in the sky.

The scene was overwhelming, with no fewer than several thousand soldiers boarding.

Meanwhile, in the Nimbus City on Lumora.

The planet’s leadership had known that the alien invasion was inevitable as soon as they received reports of the approaching enemy.

After holding out for so long, the aliens had finally decided to unleash their full force.

The strength of the alien forces was undeniable, and all the commanders had mentally prepared themselves for the worst.

"Major General, good news! Good news!" A soldier suddenly burst into the room, too excited to bother with proper protocol.

"What good news?" The people in the meeting room stood up at once, with Major General Rafiq stepping forward directly. "Take your time and explain."

The soldier, still catching his breath, fought back his excitement and said, "The aliens... the aliens have suddenly retreated!"

"That’s impossible! Why would the aliens retreat?" another human general exclaimed in disbelief.

"It’s true! If you don’t believe me, come outside and see it by yourselves," the soldier insisted.

Before the words had fully left his mouth, several commanders had already hurried out of the operations room.

They looked up toward the direction of the alien ships.

Far in the distance, those countless dark specks were retreating back to the ships.

They weren’t disembarking.

They were boarding.

"Why would the aliens retreat so suddenly?" Major General Rafiq couldn’t shake the feeling that this might be a trap—a ploy to lower their guard before striking again.

"We don’t know. It just... happened," the soldier replied, shaking his head.

Even after witnessing it with his own eyes, he was still baffled.

"It’s unlikely to be a trap. The aliens’ strength far surpasses ours. If they wanted to take us out, they could easily suppress us with firepower. There’s no need for such roundabout tactics," another commander reasoned.

"Exactly. The aliens are arrogant. They’re confident in their superiority over us. My guess is that something urgent or something unexpected happened which forcing them to withdraw," another agreed.

"Let’s hope that’s the case. Even so, we don’t have much time. If they’re not striking now, they will eventually," Major General Rafiq said grimly, his worry far from eased.

At this thought, the fleeting joy in everyone’s hearts vanished.

They felt as though they were being roasted over an open flame, yet they had no control over the situation.

Leaving Lumora was not an option—what would happen to the millions of residents on the planet if they abandoned it?

"No matter the reason, send someone to investigate and find out what the aliens are up to. If this really is a trap, we need to prepare in advance," Major General Rafiq quickly composed himself.
