Chapter 1052: Treasures and Sacrifices

Chapter 1052: Treasures and Sacrifices

Despite his lamentation, Gor’kan couldn’t hide a hint of pride. After all, Phoenixes were fellow divine beasts, and their extinction during that great war only underscored the tenacity of the Nine Heaven Pixiu, whose origins predated even the Phoenixes.

"Besides this Phoenix Feather, I’ll also need a few other materials," Amalia said, listing several items. Considering the treasure trove contained something as rare as a Phoenix Feather, there might still be more surprises waiting to be discovered.

Zhar’khaen and Vryss’laar immediately dove into the clusters of glowing treasures, searching diligently. Before long, they had gathered all the additional materials Amalia had requested.

"I really want to just haul this entire treasure trove away," Kenny Lin muttered under his breath.

A bead of sweat rolled down Gor’kan’s forehead. Even if he had the same thought, wasn’t it a bit too bold to say it out loud in front of him?

Not long ago, they had been worried about how to find all the necessary materials. Yet here they were, everything conveniently gathered in one place. Luck truly played a crucial role.

Amalia spoke up, "If I’m going to repair the Soltice Ring, it won’t be quick. Holding off the devils and demonic beasts outside will have to rely on you for now."

"How long will it take?"

Amalia shook her head. "I’m not certain. I’ve never refined a spatial ring before, much less repaired one. It might take anywhere from half a day to a full day."

"But the barrier will be breached in less than an hour. Don’t you have any other methods to buy us more time?" Kenny Lin frowned.

"There is a way," Gor’kan admitted hesitantly. "But we’ve already exhausted all our spirit stones. The only resources left are the treasures here." If only they had arrived a day earlier, this predicament could have been avoided.

"Then toss a few treasures in," Kenny Lin said decisively.

The three beasts were visibly startled. "But once we use these treasures, they’ll be gone for good! These are—"

Kenny Lin interrupted, "What’s more important? Your Young Master and those eggs, or these treasures?"

"Of course, the Young Master and the eggs!" the three replied in unison, exchanging glances. It seemed they had no choice but to comply.

"Keep the ones with offensive capabilities. Sacrifice the defensive ones," Kenny Lin instructed.

Zhar’khaen reluctantly brought down a large box, his face full of pain. "This contains a set of armor. Though slightly damaged, it was once used by an Immortal named Nangong Xuanyue during the Beast God’s era. Its defensive power is unmatched."

"Is Nangong Xuanyue still alive?" Kenny Lin gave him a sidelong glance.

Zhar’khaen gulped. "Probably... fallen."

"Excellent." Kenny Lin turned his gaze to Vryss’laar.

After hesitating, Vryss’laar retrieved another item. "These are the Reverse God Boots. It’s said that when fully activated, they can allow you to teleport instantaneously. The stronger the user, the farther they can teleport."

"Keep those for Amalia," Kenny Lin instructed with a wave of his hand.

Although the outcome wasn’t what Vryss’laar expected, he still let out a sigh of relief. At least the boots wouldn’t be wasted as fodder for the formation.

The two then brought out several more treasures, all artifacts from the Beast God’s era, left behind by fallen powerhouses.

"I’m really curious. After your Beast God fought in that great war back in the day, he still had the energy to collect all these things? How obsessive was his collecting habit?" Kenny Lin bluntly asked.

Amalia was equally intrigued. She had only ever heard of dragons having hoarding tendencies. Who would have thought that a Beast God would have the same habit as a dragon?

This question left the three of them speechless. As Pixiu who hadn’t even lived for a century, they genuinely didn’t know why so many artifacts belonging to fallen powerhouses from the great war ended up in the Nine Heaven Pixiu’s treasury.

"I figured you wouldn’t have an answer," Kenny Lin said, stepping out of the treasury. He took a deep breath of the rich spiritual energy in the air. "The spiritual energy here in the Forbidden Grounds is denser than outside. Do you have any artifacts that can gather spiritual energy? If you can place them near the formation, it’ll buy us some time, even if it’s not much."

Gor’kan shook his head. "If we had any, we would’ve used them long ago. We wouldn’t be in this situation now."

"Let me handle it." Amalia took out several divine artifacts she had obtained from the Path of All Immortals.

The three beasts stared at her in stunned silence until she explained, "These divine artifacts are ones I’ve refined. I can configure them into a formation. I had planned to use them to trap enemies."

But since the Forbidden Grounds already had a massive formation to trap their foes, there was no need to waste these divine artifacts here.

"I’ll handle it," Kenny Lin said, taking the artifacts from her. He motioned for Zhar’khaen and Vryss’laar to lead him to the altar. "You focus on fixing the Soltice Ring as quickly as you can."

"Alright," Amalia replied before turning to Gor’kan. "This treasury—does it fall within the palace’s formation?"

"That’s correct. Once the formation is activated, they’ll have to enter it if they want to find the treasury. They’re so greedy for these treasures; they’ll definitely take the bait," Gor’kan said confidently.

"Good. I’ll stay here," Amalia said.

Gor’kan nodded. "If you truly manage to repair the spatial ring, take these treasures with you too."

"You’re not worried I’ll just keep them all for myself?" Amalia teased with a smile.

Gor’kan quickly shook his head. "If it means saving the Young Master and more than eighty Pixiu eggs, you can take it all. We doesn’t care much."

Amalia laughed. "Then what resources will you use to help those eggs cultivate after that?"

Gor’kan froze for a moment, caught off guard.

"Take me to get familiar with the palace first," Amalia said as she strode past him and out of the room.
