Chapter 1051: The Future of the Pixiu Clan
Kenny Lin’s eyes gleamed with realization. "I also remember you mentioned that the Beast God foresaw this calamity for your clan."
"Both of you are exceptionally perceptive," Gor’kan said with a sigh. "This is actually the second matter we hoped to entrust to you."
"The Beast God indeed foresaw it and left a contingency plan for the reproduction of the Nine Heaven Pixiu clan. We are part of that plan," Gor’kan explained, his tone solemn.
Hearing this, Amalia’s expression suddenly brightened.
"Is it... eggs?"
"Yes," Gor’kan confirmed. "To help the Nine Heaven Pixiu clan survive and avoid extinction, the Beast God prophesied before his demise that if our clan persisted with pure bloodlines, we would still face the danger of annihilation. Following the Beast God’s prophecy, the elders arranged for pure-blooded Nine Heaven Pixiu to interbreed with other demonic beast clans, resulting in hybrids like us. Additionally, they preserved one hundred Pixiu eggs. We are three of the eggs that hatched over ninety years ago."
"After all these years, only the three of you hatched?" Amalia asked skeptically. "Are these eggs stored in the land of inheritance?"
"Yes," Gor’kan confirmed. "You may not know, but even for hybrid Pixiu, reproduction is incredibly difficult. Not every egg successfully hatches. The hatching phase is when the eggs are most vulnerable to perishing."
"The surviving elders from that battle attempted hatching before, but they failed repeatedly, losing over a dozen eggs in the process. After that, the elders no longer dared to continue. Only when they were nearing the end of their lives did they make another attempt, which resulted in our successful hatching. Unfortunately, the elders passed away before they could hatch any more eggs."
As Gor’kan finished speaking, a wave of sorrow seemed to ripple through the three of them. But it faded in mere moments—they had long passed the age for lamenting the past.
"You want to entrust the remaining Pixiu eggs in the land of inheritance to us?" Amalia quickly deduced their intention.
"Exactly," Gor’kan said firmly. "The devils and demonic beasts outside won’t let us go. We can’t take these eggs with us. If they’re discovered, they’ll undoubtedly destroy every last one. The existence of these eggs must remain a secret."
"Even if we help you take the eggs, we can’t hatch them," Amalia pointed out. "And since the eggs are alive, we can’t store them in spatial tools to transport them."
If only the Soltice Ring weren’t damaged and dormant, they might have been able to place the eggs inside it, she thought.
"Our plan is to trap the stronger enemies within the formation and ask you to take these eggs and hide them. The Forbidden Grounds’ protective barrier can’t be opened frequently; doing so would drain even more energy and accelerate the enemies’ progress."
Amalia now realized they didn’t intend for her and Kenny Lin to participate in the battle to hold off the enemies.
"These eggs represent the future of the Nine Heaven Pixiu clan. They cannot be allowed to come to harm. As for the issue of hatching, if the Young Master also makes it out safely, he will ensure they can be hatched in the future—"
"No need to make things so complicated," Kenny Lin interrupted impatiently. "Do you have something called Phoenix Feathers in your treasure vault?"
Gor’kan looked puzzled. "What do you need Phoenix Feathers for?"
"Just answer whether you have them or not," Kenny Lin said curtly.
"I’m not sure," Gor’kan admitted. "We’d need to search to confirm."
"Then search—immediately," Kenny Lin ordered. Without waiting for a response, he flew up, grabbing several light spheres from the treasure vault. He inspected each briefly and, finding none to contain what he sought, discarded them.
"Forgive me, but I have a living space artifact," Amalia explained to the trio. "However, it’s currently sealed due to severe damage from before. To activate it, I need Phoenix Feathers. If there are any here, it would save us a great deal of trouble."
The trio’s spirits lifted immediately. If there truly was a functioning living space artifact, the situation would become much simpler.
"Search it quickly! I’ve read records from the clan—during the Beast God’s era, he had dealings with a Phoenix," Zhar’khaen recalled as he darted into action, searching for the treasure.
"So Phoenix Feathers are literally feathers from a Phoenix," Amalia murmured to herself. "But why would Phoenix Feathers be the key material for a living space artifact?"
"The Phoenix Feathers you’re looking for probably aren’t ordinary feathers," Gor’kan replied, overhearing her question.
"What kind of Phoenix Feathers, then?" Amalia asked, intrigued.
"It’s said that the feathers from a Phoenix’s tail are the most significant," Gor’kan explained. "They are condensed with the purest energy from the Phoenix’s body. Furthermore, Phoenixes can traverse time and space, so tail feathers are believed to have the best effects. However, most people couldn’t obtain tail feathers and had to substitute feathers from other parts of the Phoenix instead."
"It’s no wonder living space rings are so rare—and almost nonexistent now," Amalia muttered thoughtfully.
"Exactly. Even during the Beast God’s time, living space artifacts were rarely seen," Gor’kan affirmed.
At that moment, Zhar’khaen’s voice rang out, filled with excitement. "Found it! I found it!"
In a flash, a shadow streaked toward Zhar’khaen and snatched the box from his hands, then brought it to Amalia.
"Look, is this the Phoenix Feather you need?" Kenny Lin asked eagerly, presenting the box like a prized treasure.
Amalia opened the box, and immediately, a radiant flame-like glow erupted from within.
Although intangible, the intense heat quickly filled the air, and everyone could feel the rising temperature around them.
The Solarian Flames within Amalia’s body began to stir, trembling between awe and a reckless urge to challenge the new flame.
"The Phoenix True Flame is astonishing," Amalia remarked, impressed.
"Of course. While it’s not technically a primordial flame, it surpasses all such flames," Gor’kan said with a mix of reverence and pride. "During the Beast God’s era, there were artificers who sought to acquire the Phoenix True Flame for their craft. They tried to refine it for personal use but were burned to death in the attempt—truly a tragic end. Since then, no artificer has dared to covet the Phoenix True Flame. Now that Phoenixes are extinct, it’s likely that Phoenix True Flame no longer exists in this world."
