Chapter 1017: The Hidden Threat

"Good. Then go. If I survive, I will report your merits to our superiors," the devil leader nodded.

In order to avoid drawing attention and to make their actions more convenient, the devils had deliberately scattered themselves earlier.

Molos didn’t wait. He immediately moved to the edge of the formation, positioning himself behind Hanjun Wangye’s group. One hand pretended to channel spiritual energy into Hanjun Wangye, while the other slowly rose, a hidden malice glimmering in his eyes.

At that moment, Kenny Lin, standing at the core of the formation, suddenly turned his gaze toward the wild cultivators.

The two other devils who noticed this scene felt their hearts skip a beat, a sudden sense of foreboding washing over them.

The next second, their premonition became reality.

Kenny Lin abruptly waved his hand.

Molos, who was just about to act, suddenly felt himself restrained by an overwhelming force. His body lifted into the air, and in the next instant, he was thrown out of the Heavenfall Annihilation Formation, landing amidst a swarm of wandering spirits.

The wandering spirit hesitated for a brief moment, then pounced. Molos was instantly overwhelmed, his screams echoing briefly before fading into silence.

"What just happened?"

Those unaware of the situation were shocked, especially the wild cultivators. They couldn’t understand why Kenny Lin had suddenly acted against one of their own.

"Kenny Lin, what are you doing? How can you casually throw someone out of the formation?" Seonho Ming seized the opportunity to demand angrily.

"Exactly! Even if he’s just a wild cultivator with no backing, you threw him out just because you said so? Are you relying on the fact that you’re the disciple of Master Lian? What’s next—are you planning to throw us out too?" Dongjian Zhao added, relishing the chance to kick someone while they were down.

Kenny Lin turned to him with a faint smile. "Do you want to test me?"

"Kenny Lin, you’ve gone too far!" Temujin Lei said, his face dark. "Without us, do you think your Green Lotus Sect can sustain this formation? Don’t assume we won’t withdraw our spiritual energy!"

"I believe he wouldn’t act like this without good reason," Dayeon Xinyue interjected calmly.

Temujin Lei’s fury flared even higher upon hearing that Dayeon Xinyue had spoken in favor of Kenny Lin.

"Dayeon Xinyue, you must like him very much right?! That’s the only reason you’d defend him like this. How can you be sure he’s not hiding ulterior motives? This man is ruthless—I wouldn’t put anything past him!"

Dayeon Xinyue’s star-like eyes glimmered with icy light as she responded, "Temujin Lei, do you know why I’ve always ignored your pursuit? It’s because I never waste my breath on people I despise. I’m simply stating the truth. Logically and morally, Kenny Lin has no reason to risk getting condemned by everyone for harming a wild cultivator. I don’t know what others think, but I will never falsely accuse someone without evidence."

"I trust Kenny Lin as well," Yunse Qiao chimed in. "That man is definitely suspicious. Earlier, he was standing beside someone else, yet somehow, he suddenly shifted to stand behind Hanjun Wangye."

"I believe him too," Jinwoo Zhang agreed.

"What does this have to do with you? Stop sticking your nose into everything," Mino Pei said coldly from the side.

"I’m just being truthful," Jinwoo Zhang replied, unfazed by Mino Pei’s disdain for them.

As for the disciples of the Green Lotus Sect, they had no doubts. Although their martial uncle’s temperament and attitude were harsh, he would never stop bullying a minor figure without just cause.

"My martial uncle must have had his reasons for doing this," Jirandai Tang interjected at the right moment. "Don’t forget—someone betrayed us before. That person might very well be the one in question."

"Empty words! Do you have any proof?" Seonho Ming sneered. "And next time he kills someone, will you claim they’re an accomplice too?"

"Why is it impossible for that person to have accomplices? And how can you be certain he doesn’t?" Amalia countered calmly. "If you think he’s innocent, then show us proof that clears his name."

"You—you’re being unreasonable!" Seonho Ming’s face turned red with anger. He had no evidence to offer. After all, it was the accusers’ responsibility to prove guilt, not his to prove innocence.

"Oh, and you’re not being unreasonable? This man harbored malicious intent. If martial uncle hadn’t acted in time to remove him, Hanjun Wangye might already been injured, allowing the formation to be broken. We’ve eliminated a hidden threat for everyone. Instead of gratitude, you’re targeting us? Such hypocrisy. Is this the ’high moral standing’ of the Eternal One Sect? If word gets out, no one will believe it."

Having said her piece, Amalia ignored Seonho Ming’s increasingly dark expression and turned her head to Hanjun Wangye.

"Hanjun Wangye, do you know this person? Do you have any enmity with him?"

Hanjun Wangye shook his head. "I don’t know him, let alone have any grudges."

"Hanjun Wangye rarely makes enemies. I don’t know this person either," Chohwan Jin added.

"I know him," a small voice suddenly spoke up.

All eyes turned to the wild cultivator who had spoken. Looking visibly uncomfortable under the attention, he explained, "He’s my friend. We came here together to participate in the Path of All Immortals, but we got separated. When I saw him again, he was acting strange and wouldn’t talk to me. We’ve only seen Hanjun Wangye once, and they’ve never spoken before. My friend likes to show off. If he knew Hanjun Wangye, he would’ve bragged about it to me for sure."

"Since there’s no enmity between him and Hanjun Wangye, why was he targeting Hanjun Wangye? Or perhaps, his true goal wasn’t Hanjun Wangye at all, but instead... us within the formation."

As Amalia’s words fell, everyone’s expressions immediately changed—including the two devils in disguise.

"If the formation breaks, it will be us who die. It’s likely none of us will escape. A mere wild cultivator with no power or influence—what would drive him to risk his life to harm us? What kind of person harbors such hatred for every sect here?"
