Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire -
Chapter 128: Poison Eruption
Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Poison Eruption
"Senior Brother, I feel so terrible."
It hurts and it’s cold.
Her pale lips couldn’t stop trembling.
Waves of stabbing pain surged, each wave stronger than the last.
Tears uncontrollably fell, as Serena Summers furrowed her little face in grievance.
Edward Selwyn’s heart clenched tightly, and he frantically took out silver needles from Serena’s bag.
As Victor Bennett’s top disciple, even though Edward could not match Serena’s extraordinary talent, his acupuncture skills were nearly unparalleled.
He precisely inserted the silver needles into various acupoints on Serena’s body, and gradually, a layer of cold sweat emerged on his forehead.
Assistant Young, sitting in the driver’s seat, also grew nervous.
"Where is the antidote that master prepared for you?" Edward asked coldly.
Serena’s pale lips quivered as she slowly uttered three words, "It’s all gone."
Edward choked, irate to the point of nearly passing out.
"Didn’t you know to come find me after using it all up? Do you have any idea what would have happened if I hadn’t arrived on time tonight?"
Serena’s eyes were tightly closed, her head buzzing.
She hardly absorbed a word that Edward said.
She just absentmindedly nodded her head.
Her attitude was completely perfunctory.
If it weren’t for Serena experiencing the onset of her poisoning, Edward definitely would have properly drilled into this little rascal, who didn’t know at all to take care of herself!
He slowly exhaled a turbid breath and used the back of his hand to check her temperature on her cheek.
Her cheek had lost all color, as pale as paper, appearing sickly and fragile.
Like a delicate porcelain doll.
It made one inevitably feel pity, wanting to cradle and carefully protect her.
Edward reached into Serena’s small bag again, and found a porcelain bottle.
However, it was completely empty.
"Did you also finish the Spring Elixir?" Edward frowned and instructed Assistant Young, "Back to the villa."
Naturally, by villa, he meant his own residence.
Upon hearing this, Serena’s long eyelashes trembled slightly as she reached out to grasp his sleeve.
"Senior Brother, take me back to the Shaw Mansion."
"You’re in this condition and still thinking about going back to the Shaw Family?"
"He will be worried."
Serena opened her eyes vulnerably, her clear eyes filled with grievance.
"No! Serena, just quietly come home with me, don’t think about anything else!"
Edward couldn’t help but laugh at Serena’s stubborn appearance.
He hadn’t expected that, even at this point, she was still concerned about the Shaw Family, concerned about Lucas Shaw.
She had only known Lucas Shaw for so short a time and was already willing to risk her life for him.
"Senior Brother, please. I’m already much better now, it will be fine soon," Serena cajoled.
"No." Edward firmly denied her request.
Serena’s eyes drooped in disappointment, and she reached out to remove the silver needles.
Edward’s eyelids twitched fiercely, and he quickly grabbed her wrist.
"Are you trying to kill yourself? It’s not time yet. If you recklessly remove the silver needles, all my efforts just now will be in vain. Are you crazy?"
Serena’s eyes reddened slightly, and she pouted her lips in grievance.
"Senior Brother, you’re scolding me..."
Meeting Serena’s watery eyes, most of Edward’s anger instantly dissipated.
He guiltily looked away, "I didn’t, don’t wrong me."
"Yes, you did! You just yelled at me."
"Do you not understand why I yelled at you? Master and I spent so much effort detoxifying you, just to watch you ruin it?" Edward scoffed coldly, wishing he could throw this little rascal out.
Serena pursed her lips, remaining silent.
The inside of the car instantly quieted down, and Edward suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable.
He turned his head to look at Serena, only to see her eyes closed, breathing shallowly.
Like she was asleep.
Assistant Young asked, "President, are we going back to the villa?"
Edward Selwyn was silent for a moment, then slowly sighed, "Forget it, go to Shaw Mansion."
When the time was almost right, Edward Selwyn pulled out the silver needles one by one and took off his jacket to drape it over Serena Summers.
He instructed Assistant Young to park the car on the roadside not far from Shaw Mansion.
Serena Summers’ pale complexion gradually returned to normal, not until deep into the night did she slowly wake up.
"Senior brother."
Serena Summers rubbed her eyes and sat up from the seat.
Her clear eyes carried the haziness of someone who just woke up.
"Does it still hurt?" Edward Selwyn asked worriedly.
"It doesn’t hurt anymore."
"I will have someone send you the medicine tomorrow morning to temporarily suppress the poison in your body. It’s late; you should head back first."
Edward Selwyn’s eyes lowered, his expression inscrutable.
His handsome face flickered in the dim light, making it impossible to discern his mood.
Serena Summers inexplicably felt he was angry.
She pursed her lips, feeling a sense of indescribable discomfort.
She took off the suit jacket draped over her and exited the car.
Edward Selwyn leaned back in his seat, his eyes intently following Serena’s departing silhouette.
"Do you think I shouldn’t interfere with Serena’s romantic affairs?"
The man’s low, husky voice came from the back seat.
Assistant Young’s heart skipped a beat and he quickly responded, "Miss will certainly understand your difficulties!"
"Really?" Edward Selwyn gave a bitter smile and said no more.
Assistant Young, looking through the rearview mirror with the corner of his eye, saw Edward Selwyn wearyly closing his eyes, his lips pressed tightly into a straight line.
For some reason, Assistant Young sensed a hint of desolation and helplessness in those words from earlier.
Getting out of the car, a cool breeze brushed Serena Summers’ face.
Serena Summers gently rubbed her cheeks and took out lipstick from her bag, applying it quickly.
After confirming that her exhaustion wasn’t visible on her face, Serena finally exhaled in relief.
She took a deep breath, pretending nothing had happened and walked into Shaw Mansion.
This was actually not the first time Serena Summers had suffered from poison after her marriage.
Previously, she had always had the medicine crafted by her master before he left, so no incidents occurred.
But this time, her master has been away for too long, and she had run out of medicine.
If she hadn’t met Edward Selwyn, she didn’t know what she would face.
When poisoned, Serena Summers’ thoughts were filled with Lucas Shaw.
Especially now, she couldn’t wait to see him.
However, as she approached the master bedroom, she heard voices inside.
"Brother Lucas, can’t you forgive me for what happened three years ago? I really know my mistake. It wasn’t my idea, it was all arranged by Aunt Ryan."
It was Sylvia Lane’s voice.
Serena Summers hesitated momentarily.
Then, a cold voice came from the room.
"It has nothing to do with me, get out of here."
The brutally brief eight words were filled with intense loathing and rejection.
Sylvia Lane felt a strong sense of unwillingness.
Why could Serena, but not her?
"Brother Lucas, I genuinely like you. Why won’t you spare me another glance?"
Lucas Shaw’s face darkened, his eyes filled with icy coldness.
"Can’t you understand human speech? I never get physical with women, but that doesn’t mean I won’t." As Lucas’s eyes flashed a hint of darkness.
Facing Lucas Shaw’s murderous gaze, Sylvia Lane shuddered violently.
Panic flashed in her eyes.
Just then, a faint sound of footsteps came from outside the door.
