Chapter 30: Revenge Plans.
Chapter 30: Revenge Plans.
"Good afternoon, Mr Theodore." She said, approaching him, ignoring the gasps from the older women behind her.
"Good afternoon, Mrs Sage. I heard there was a commotion down here, so I came to check what it is." Theo said smoothly, looking up to the women behind her, who shook like leaves.
"Oh, no. There are no problems here. We were ..discussing." She said, smoothly, making sure the women looked into her eyes as she defended them.
"Okay then. I believe it’s been handled?" He asked, his concern genuine.
"Yes sir, perfectly." She said smiling.
"Okay then. Can I talk to you for a second?" He asked hesitantly.
"Sure. Please lead the way." She said almost immediately, like she’d been expecting it.
As he left, she shot the women a look, before following him.
"You did good in there." He commended as they stepped out to a tiny balcony, far from listening ears.
"I was this close to slapping someone’s mother." She said as she leaned on the railing, taking in his appearance. "You clean up nicely." She teased.
"Oh. Wow. Taking the initiative, I see. There are other things I can clean up, nicely." He teased right back.
"Oh trust me, I don’t want to know." She said chuckling, all the anger from before, melting easily like butter.
"How are you?" He asked softly, looking into her eyes.
"Better now. I swear those women want my head. I wasn’t ordering them around or anything. I was just simply there, observing, supplying and refilling things that needed refilling. I had absolutely nothing to do with their business." She vented, very annoyed.
"Well, Princess. You do not always have to do something, before you could be hated on. Some people are just insecure." He cooed.
"It’s exhausting. So exhausting."
"This is why you do not want to announce it, isn’t it?" He asked, studying her face.
"Yes." She said sighing.
"But we can protect you. Noone would dare to do this to their Luna." Theo reasoned.
"Yes, they wouldn’t. But that would just make it worse. I do not want to be the shielded Luna. Who cannot be respected for who she is but just because of status. A good number of people see me as a freak, just because I do things some soldiers cannot achieve yet. Even though it’s because I train so hard.-"
"- Then imagine topping it up with being a mate to the three of you. I need to earn their respect, not force it or command it. If they do not see me for who I really am now, they wouldn’t see it when I become Luna. And I wouldn’t be able to support you guys."
"Beth." Theo called softly, placing his hand on her shoulder. "You already support us. We are your mates. We already know who you are. You do not have to prove anything to anyone. The only help you can give us is to stick to our side." He tried to explain.
"They’d be my people as much as yours. It’s my duty to help you guys be there for them. I have to try to gain their respect at least. I can’t just go in blind."
Seeing her resolve, he stopped pressing. He knew her history with everyone, but he’d once learned that no matter what you do, people were always going to hate on you, so long as they want to. But he was willing to let her try. Hopefully it was gonna be worth the shot.
"Alright. But, I just want you to know that, you do not owe them anything. Okay?"
"Okay, Sir." She teased smiling. "Thank you for listening to me, though. I haven’t spoken this..well to anyone in a while."
"It’s okay. We are here for you. Anytime. You can go on though, we’ve been in here a while. Wouldn’t want them gossiping."
"Alright. I’d leave first then. Bye."
"Bye, Princess." He said, his heart aching from their lack of proximity.
After a few minutes, he made a bee line to Tristan’s office, already plotting his own revenge plan against the women who dared to abuse his mate.
Especially the one that called her a witch.
"What happened? Why did she look like that?" Tristan asked as soon as he stepped into the office, Troy standing by their huge window, fuming.
"The women she was working with were questioning her authority. One insulted her, calling her an illiterate because she didn’t go to college. Another called her...a witch." He bellowed the last part.
He could see the gears turning in his brothers heads, they were all plotting, just like he was.
"Well, brothers. What do we do about this?" Tristan asked, his voice dangerously low, indicating how pissed he was, and how vengeful he was going to be.
"I say we poison them." Troy said, at once. "Noone dares to insult our mate." He said, his voice laced with anger.
"We’d have to use something that wouldn’t kill them, but would keep them bedridden for a while." Tristan concurred.
"I don’t think that would be a good idea. Bethany would now have to cover their shifts. She already has too much work on her hands as it is." Theo reasoned.
"Shit." Troy cursed, running his hands through his hair.
"We need a knew plan." Tristan said, seating on the edge of his desk.
"Good thing I’ve got one." Theo said, sitting on the chair, opposite Tristan’s desk.
"Since they called her dumb, we’d make sure their children do not graduate from college, and if they haven’t entered, we’d make sure they never do." Theo said, grinning from ear to ear.
"Now that’s delicious. It would make them work even harder, because they’d need more money." Troy reasoned.
"Mmhm. That would make Beth’s job easier because they’d be more compliant, and finally learn to not question authority." Tristan added. "That’s genius, Theo. I’m very happy."
"I know. Now, we need to put it to work as soon as we can. No slacking." Theo chimed.
"Oh we will, this isn’t just handing out justice. It’s personal."
"Damn right, it is."
