Chapter 29: Kitchen Incident.
"Guess who I just saw." Troy said as he walked into Tristan’s office. Theo was already there.
"Who?" Theo asked.
"Bethany. She just came in with her Father." Troy said, lying down on the sofa and pulling out his phone.
"Hmm, why is she here though? Does she want to see us?" Theo asked, hope glinting in his eyes.
"No, Theo. You know she’s not that clingy. I think she came to assist him." He replied, scrolling through his phone.
"Oh. But aren’t there people for that?" Theo asked.
"He prefers being assisted by her. It keeps her from being idle." Tristan replied this time.
"Okay. But wouldn’t she be worn out or something?" Theo tried to reason, not liking the idea of her working, at all.
"She’s not a weakling, Theo. Plus, I think she enjoys working." He deadpanned.
"Well, we can get her something else to do-"
"Theo." Tristan called, a bit of authority in his voice. "Let it go. She’s going to be our Luna someday and she’d have even greater responsibilities. She had to be with them. It will aid her transition."
"Mm, his correct." Troy said, not looking up from his device.
"Hmm, okay then. But I’m going to make sure she isn’t getting bullied or annoyed." He said, heading for the door.
"Theodore." Tristan called, and he turned to listen to what he had to say. "Don’t cause a scene, and don’t draw attention to her. That would piss her off." He warned about softly.
"I understand." Theo said simply before leaving the office, shutting the door behind him.
"Do you think he’d listen?" Troy asked, his eyes on his device.
"He knows better." Tristan replied studying the sheets before him. "What’s the update on that rogue situation?"
"Cole’s handling it. Said he doesn’t sense any hostility from the women, but the man’s refusing to speak."
"How bad is it?" Tristan asked.
"Let’s say, grade 7."
"You think we should call Smoke?"
"Well, based on how urgent the Intel is, I suggest we call him asap. We need it for this meeting. We can’t go in blind."
"Hmmm. Have you considered that it might not be Collins behind all this? What if someone is doing all these and pinning it on him?"Troy reasoned.
"I have thought about that too. But only he has access to all of this information. Unless he told someone and we can’t ask him unless the entire investigation would be blown. I really don’t know." Tristan said sighing, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I suggest we call Smoke. I know he’s only there for extreme cases, but this meeting begins in a few hours. We need all the time we can get. We don’t know what he can give us. It could be something that would need time to process." Troy proposed, his device on his lap now.
"Fine, call him. But he must be under your supervision. He might be our executioner, but he’s only got one nut left in his skull." Tristan warned.
"Alright. I’d call you." Troy said, already by the door.
" Be careful. Dad cannot find out."
"Oh, I will be."

Theo took steady steps round the pack house, searching for Beth, but looked like he was inspecting how the preparation was going.
Personally, he couldn’t understand why they were doing what they were doing. They were having just six Alphas over for a meeting that shouldn’t last beyond three hours.
And they were going to spend the entire time in a conference room, so he couldn’t understand why the halls needed paintings and flowers and what not.
Not like it was his business.
Going into the common room, he caught a faint whiff of her scent, his nostrils perking in delight. He traced the scent to the kitchen only to find a huge argument going down, and Beth appeared to be on the receiving end of this, but she didn’t look like it.
Her shoulders and face were kept up straight as she countered their claims. It made his blood boil to see them treat her in that manner, but he knew better than to interfere, so he just stood by the sidelines, watching and waiting.
"I don’t understand why Mr Sage would put your tiny ass in charge. Everyone here is older than you." One woman spat.
"I’m not in charge, Mrs Smith. I’m only here to supervise." She answered cooly, her face stoic, devoid of any emotions. Theo had never seen her that way before. He quickly took a picture and sent it to the group chat.
Our future Luna.
"Oh please. Do we look like illiterates to you?" Another woman chimed. "What’s the difference between supervising and being in charge? I bet you wouldn’t know. Besides you couldn’t get admitted into any college in the city." She said, she and the rest of the women cackling.
Theo saw her eye twitch abit as she bit her cheek. He couldn’t help but tighten his fists in anger, but stay put.
"Mrs Caroline. I employ you to focus on your duties and not on me. I’m not here to interrupt or order you. So I don’t see why you are threatened by my presence." She said stiffly.
"Threatened? Why would I be threatened by you? Do you know who I am?" Mrs Caroline spat, looking like she like she could kill.
"Mrs Caroline -" Beth started but was interrupted by another woman.
"Shut your trap, you little witch. Do you think that just because your father is the butler, we would fear you?! If not because I respect him, I’d stick your ugly face in a pot of boiling water!"
"And what is respect without respecting his own?!" Beth snapped, her voice quite loud but heavy, commanding their attention, still trying to hold the reins of her anger. "You claim to respect him and yet here you are abusing his child." She said at once.
"For the last time, I’m going to say this. I’m not here to threaten you, I’m just here to supervise. If you’re not comfortable with it, I suggest you leave now before I report to Alpha Sampson." She said, shutting them up completely.
One by one, they returned to their duties, without whispers or defiance.
Silently, she took a shaky breath, calming herself down before turning to face the person she had sensed walk in few minutes ago.
