Chapter 17: Sacred View of Eldrador.
Bethany’s Pov
"It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" Troy asked from where he stood beside me.
"Yeah, It is."
"You know, Theo calls it ’The Sacred view of Eldrador’ cause it can’t be found anywhere else." He said proudly, a ghost smirk, laying on his face.
"Of course." I chuckled. "This is the highest building in the city. You guys really out did yourselves." I said, staring out at all the other roof tops.
"Beth." He called. I could feel his warm gaze on me now, but I didn’t turn to him.
"Yes?"
"We fucked up." He said.
"Yeah. No shit. But why, though?" I asked turning to face him this time.
Sighing, he came alittle closer and took my right hand in his, my palm tingling under his touch.
Stupid mate bond.
"We were beyond pissed at her, and at the same time, we were scared of freaking you out. You were right, we had fucked her. Only one time, I swear and we never contacted her again. We never do.-"
"- So when she came in, we were torn in-between killing her and not freaking you out. But we could have done something, I don’t know what it was supposed to be but, Beth, we are really sorry. Please."
Sighing shakily, I turned back to the city, blinking back the tears that had gathered in my eyes, taking a deep breath.
The tension between us was a crackling hearth that had to be put off, atleast temporarily so I could process the actual feelings beneath it.
His explanation kind of made sense, but it didn’t ease the pain I felt. There was nothing he could do. It had already happened.
Nodding slightly, I turned to him, giving him a small smile while taking my hand from his, ignoring the flash in his eyes.
"It’s okay. I understand." I said.
"Beth-"
"I’m serious, Troy. I’m not in my best mood yet, but I’d be fine. Just give it some time." I tried to say in the most convincing way I could muster.
"Okay." He said, clasping his hands together. "Will you be coming in now?"
"Yeah, I should. We still have alot to talk about." I said, arranging my dress. "C’mon."
I followed his lead down the hallway, before stopping at the entrance of the conference room. Seeing I stopped, he turned to see if I was okay.
"I’m good." I said. " Let’s go in."
He walked into the room first, going to the side so he could close the door after me. I didn’t acknowledge his gesture; not out of hostility but due to the pressure of the gazes on me.
I kept my eyes trained on my seat till I got to it and sat down, rubbing my clammy palms on my furry purse.
After a moment of silence, Tristan spoke.
"How do you feel?" He said and I could feel his gaze on the side of my face. His voice was soft, but heavy. Filled with emotions I’d rather not dissect.
"I’m okay. Not completely, though." I said chuckling, trying to ease the tension in my stomach. "I get why you guys couldn’t react and it’s fine. Just next time, please don’t hold back. I’m not a damsel in distress but I don’t like being embarrassed either."
" We understand."
"Thank you." I said, taking another deep breath. "Alright, we have other things to talk about." I glanced briefly at Theo, giving him a warm look.
"Yeah, we do." Tristan said, taking up his serious poise again. "When do you see it fit that we announce..this development?." His voice was steady, and so was his stance, mirroring that of his brothers, but it wasn’t imposing. Just showed they meant business.
Clearing my throat lightly, I adjusted in my seat. "I don’t think I’m ready for that now. I’m sorry. I just need get used to it alone for sometime atleast, before I have to deal with the attention of the entire pack."
Nodding, Tristan responded. " That’s okay. We wouldn’t rush you, you have all the time you want."
"That’s generous." I muttered lightly, turning to Troy and Theo to see if they were onboard with Tristan’s decision. They both nodded lightly indicating their approval and I couldn’t hold back my smile any longer.
"Thank you so much." I said wholeheartedly.
I really hadn’t expected them to agree. I hadn’t expected an immediate disapproval but I had expected a time limit, atleast, given their status. I was really grateful.
"Oh please. Don’t say that. We owe that to you, and more." Theo said.
"Awwnn. That’s so sweet." I cooed. " Any other business? It’s getting really late." I said, turning on my screen to check the time. It was past nine already.
"Shit." I cursed. "It’s past nine. Can we still drive home?" I asked looking up to the boys.
"Yeah, we can. If you don’t mind, that is." Tristan said.
That’s the thing. I did mind. I had fancied going around at night in the city and all but driving or travelling at night, not so much.
I had heard so many stories of events that could take place on those lonely roads. Robberies, accidents etc. I really did want to go, but wasn’t sure how much I could risk.
"You seem to be in deep thoughts, honey." Theo chimed. " You sure you can go?"
Sighing in resignation, I shook my head, my shoulders deflated.
"I really don’t think I can." I said. I could see the relief flash in his eyes, but it cleared almost immediately.
"Why?" Tristan asked.
"I want to but I’m scared. I’ve heard way too many stories. I don’t think I want to do it." I tired to explain.
"Uh, baby. You are with us. Like us." Troy said, motioning to himself and the boys. "You know we’d never put you in such situation, or let anything of that sort happen to you right?" He sounded and looked so serious, Maria couldn’t help but purr.
Nodding, I replied. " Yes. I know. I’m just. I’m not even used to the driving yet."
"We understand, baby." Tristan said, his hand on my thigh for the third time, as his eyes bored into mine sending shivers down my spine, to my nipples and..nether region. "We just wanted to make sure you knew that."
Gulping, I nodded again, hoping they hadn’t seen my nipples perking through my gown. "But, I can stay, right?" I asked genuinely, hoping they were going to say yes.
"Of course." Troy said leaning forward, his gaze lingering on my straining nipples before looking up to me.
"We’d be more than happy to have you." He said softly, a smug smirk laying easily on his face, my nipples stiffening in anticipation.
Gulping, I fisted the hem of my gown.
Get a grip, Bethany.
