Chapter 18: Night with the Boys I

"Hey, Mom." Bethany said, as soon as her mom picked.

"Sweetie." Jen cooed from the other side. "What’s up? Are you coming home soon? Your dad is quite worried." Jen said, but Beth could tell she was the one worried, seeing as her voice was laced with concern.

"I’m okay, Mom. Everything’s good." Beth tried to pacify her.

"Alright, love. So you are on your way?" Jen asked again.

"Uhh, about that." Beth said, clearing her throat lightly. "I wouldn’t be coming in tonight."

"Why?" Jen asked, abit of panic in her voice.

"’Cause it’s late and I’m not sure I want to be on the road by this time." Beth tried to explain, her heart pounding fiercely against her ribcage. Asides working out early in the mornings against her mother’s wishes, she hasn’t really rebelled before.

"Bunny, are you sure about this?" Her dad asked this time, concern laced his voice as well, but it was steady.

"Yes, Dad. I’d be back early tomorrow morning." Bethany replied, abit relieved her father was taking it better than she’d imagined.

She’d always been a tad bit afraid of him.

"Alright, Sweetie. There’s no problem, but I’d love to speak with Tristan." Ray said, his voice was firm, and carried some sort of authority she’d never heard before.

"Dad-" Bethany wanted to argue, but he wasn’t having it.

"Baby. Hand him the phone. I have to speak with him." He said, and this time, it was with a tone she couldn’t argue with.

"Okay. Few minutes." She said in resignation, leaving the sitting room, to the conference room, where they boys sat, conversing.

They all looked up at her as she walked in, but she just walked to where Tristan sat, placed the phone before him and put it on speaker.

Understanding the situation, Tristan spoke up, his voice steady and firm.

"Good evening, Mr Sage."

"Good evening, Tristan. I suppose the meeting went well?" Ray said, his voice laced with that same authority Bethany was yet to understand.

"Yes, Sir. It did." Tristan replied.

"Good. And I suppose you’d take good care of my daughter." Raymond said, this time it sounded more like a command. Bethany shuddered at the weight of his words, but Tristan didn’t seem affected, or atleast he didn’t look like he did.

"Definitely, Mr Sage."

"Good. Goodnight, Bunny. And yes, I know you put me in speaker." Raymond said, his voice way lighter than it was seconds before.

"Dad!" She shrieked in embarrassment, removing from speaker, and placed it on her ear. "Well played, Old man." She snapped.

"Oh please. My age has to count for something, young lady. I’m going off. Enjoy yourself, Hun." He said softly.

"I will, Daddy. Please take care of Mommy."

"Naa, she’s a big girl." Raymond said. Beth could picture him sticking out his tongue at Jen.

"Oh really?" Beth asked, chuckling lightly, the pain in her chest, slowly disappearing.

"Yep! Baby. They cannot force you to do anything you do not want to, okay?" Raymond said, quite seriously, trying to hide how happy and nervous he was for his baby.

"Yes, Dad. I know." She said, nodding slowly.

"Alright, baby. Byee." He said before going off, leaving Bethany to cling to remnants of his voice in her head as she put the phone down.

Sighing, she looked up to face her mates, putting up a huge grin.

"So, what are we doing tonight?"

-------

After a very extensive tour of their penthouse, Dumbstruck Bethany was shown her designated bedroom which she’d spent over ten minutes exploring.

The room’s walls were covered with beige wallpapers that had gold streaks, complementing the sleek black furniture in the room.

A sophisticated chandelier hung at the center of the ceiling casting its golden glow across the room, highlighting the ambiance of the beige wallpapers.

Her bed, was a large circular majestic canopy bed with flowing beige drapes that had black streaks embroidered on them and sturdy posts.

Adjoining the room, was a massive walk-in closet, not fully stocked but contained a considerable amount of any kind of clothing, foot wear, jewelry there was.

"Are you sure this isn’t the Master bedroom?" She asked the boys who had made themselves comfortable at different sides of the room for the third time. "And why is it so furnished? Why are there so many clothes and shoes and...things?"

"No, it isn’t, Bethany. And we put them there so that whenever and if you come over, you could have some things to use." Tristan answered this time as he rearranged the things on the black desk he had had custom made for her.

"Then why is it so big and sophisticated?!" She asked incredulously, her eyes popping out like a child who couldn’t understand why he couldn’t sleep in-between Mom and Dad.

"Yours isn’t this big, neither is Troy’s or Theo’s. And this bed is so big."

"Don’t worry, baby. It’s nothing you need to worry about. Trust me."

Sighing, she sat at the bench at the foot of the bed, very exhausted but happy.

"Thank you so much, guys. This is a lot. My room at home is so tiny and doesn’t have even half of anything here." She said, tears brimming her eyes.

"It’s okay, Baby. You don’t have to cry." Theo who was laying in the bed, came up to sit beside her, his palm rubbing her back in circles.

"I’m not sad." She said chuckling a bit. " It’s just.. This is alot."

"C’mon." Theo said, pulling her into his chest, not caring if hed crossed any boundaries, one arm around her, the other wiping her tears, meanwhile his heart was beating a marathon with every breath he took.

Her scent was so intoxicating, his wolf was prancing heartily in his mind.

After a while, when she’d finally calmed down. She looked up to see the that her mates had literally surrounded her. Tristan was seating on her other side, holding a glass of water, and Theo was seating on a stool, just opposite her.

Subconsciously, she untangled herself from Theo’s warmth, running her hand through her hair, trying to convince herself that she hadn’t just bawled her eyes out before three drop dead gorgeous men.

Tristan handed her the glass of water he was holding which she finished at once. Taking the glass and placing it on the floor beside him, he pulled her into his chest, putting his fingers into hair and scattered it to his satisfaction.

"Hey!" She scolded pulling away from his grip, ignoring Maria’s whines of disapproval. "What was that for?" She asked, her lips pouted and her cheeks tinted.

"Nothing. Just felt like it." He said shrugging, smiling lightly at how embarrassed she looked. Slowly, he stood up from the bench, moving away a little from the group, his calm demeanor, a complete contrast to the war raging inside him.

He stood up because, he couldn’t bear to just sit beside her without cuddling her, tight.

Her scent had found its way, up into his head and was really messing with his nerves. He had to leave before his beastly side could make itself known.
