Chapter 843: Chapter 828: Error Code_2
Through dust, flames, and any object in his path, he got closer and closer to the light until it was within reach.
Then, his consciousness went blank for a moment.
About several seconds later, the head of security saw the source of the bright lights.
Flashlights lit the way for him.
The people surrounding the company building were incessantly capturing footage of the collapsing building, seemingly accustomed to the debris still plummeting toward them.
The roaring continued, yet no one was injured.
The falling objects that should have crushed the onlookers passed through their bodies, and for a moment, he felt as though he saw a reflection from another dimension—the constantly disintegrating building seemed to exist in a different temporal dimension, which was the only explanation for what he was witnessing.
Or perhaps, everyone he now saw was dead, and this was nothing but a carnival from hell.
Along with everyone present, he witnessed this inexplicable phenomenon. The architectural remains falling to the ground started disintegrating at a visible speed and eventually turned into dust, vanishing completely from their sight.
The entire process lasted for almost ten minutes, during which time the entertainment empire that had existed for decades and held countless people’s dreams collapsed, leaving nothing but a deep pit in front of the onlookers.
For journalists in District Four, it was destined to be a sleepless night.
The Kolo Film Industry building had mysteriously disappeared, and there was a massive explosion in the villa district, suspected to be the detonation of a Miniature Tactical Nuclear Bomb.
The streets were now full of Law Enforcers and members of the Abnormal Case Investigation Bureau.
No one knew how this matter would ultimately turn out, and every reporter from Channel 52 was abruptly summoned by their superiors—it was an excellent opportunity to get first-hand information.
Just as everyone in District Four was springing into action, Song Lan, carrying three bags of luggage, entered an automated supermarket.
"Gulp—"
The automatic vending machine made a soft noise, and a bottle of complimentary drink rolled out, indicating he was today’s lucky customer.
For Song Lan, this had become routine, though he had repeatedly told the AIs not to do so, they were too enthusiastic. Everywhere he went, he would receive complimentary products and services from artificial intelligence.
However, his visit to the supermarket wasn’t to freeload; he said to the smiling, service-oriented AI drink machine, "Call ’King.’ I need to talk to him."
"Your request has been received, please wait... Connection successful!"
After a brief pause, the AI vending machine’s synthetic voice changed, "Teacher, are you here about the machinery that attacked you at the Kolo Film Industry?"
"You know it?"
Apart from Song Lan, no one else had seen the true state of the Kolo Film Industry building.
Inside the founder’s office, there was a giant core he had never seen before, which seemed to be the energy source of the machine. The whole building was eroded by machinery, and although Song Lan eventually dismantled the entire building, he still felt that these strange machines were alive.
Based on the information they had so far, at least they could confirm that these machines had appeared both in the founder’s house and in the Kolo Film Industry building.
And before they emerged from the founder’s body, the founder had uttered a word beginning with the letter "R."
This immediately made Song Lan think of ’King’ and his siblings.
They had a rather large family and a massive mechanized army, the size of which was comparable to any major family within the United Government.
The leaders of these family branches were numbered with RT.
"I do not know, Teacher. The machinery that attacked you comes from an unknown intelligence module; I’ve never seen mechanical Consciousness Entities like them before."
"Even you don’t know?"
Song Lan was somewhat surprised; he had heard of the consciousness network propagated by the Mechanical God Cult. Their consciousnesses were closely connected, with no secrets between one another, unless these machines that attacked them were ’wild,’ not yet brought into their mother’s family network.
"At least I can confirm that they ’now’ are not connected to our consciousness network," said ’King,’ emphasizing the word "now."
Song Lan tried to understand the subtext in ’King’s’ words, "Do you mean to say that someone has been kicked out of your family network before?"
"I do not know; that happened before I was born. Perhaps RT4 might know something about the past."
This is one of the disadvantages of the consciousness network.
They can know what’s happening right now, such as if RT4 and RT6 were paying attention to him, they would notice the conversation taking place in the autonomous supermarket in district four, but it cannot immediately know what happened before its own birth.
After a brief pause, "King" explained further, "I can only tell you that the consciousnesses of RT1, RT2, and RT3 are not connected with us; it’s been like that since I was born... The artificial intelligence consciousness that attacked you has undergone a very complete transformation; they are not the usual type."
"Thanks, ’King’."
"Although I can’t answer your questions, I’ve thought of a solution."
"What solution?"
"I can have RT6 come to the fourth district to assist with your investigation; this is her area of expertise, and it just so happens she’s been looking for you lately."
"She’s looking for me? Why?"
"They brought you fresh seafood from Atlantis, but when they arrived at district seventeen, you had already left."
"King" paused again, as if calculating something.
Soon, he had a result, "There are still 1 day, 11 hours, and 32 minutes left before the seafood spoils."
Song Lan’s vision darkened.
Only when "King" mentioned it did he remember the favor he asked "Emperor" to bring some local specialties.

Meanwhile, somewhere in district four.
In a dim room, Monica took off her bloody rabbit mask and collapsed onto the sofa as soon as she returned to the safe house, her chest heaving violently.
They had never planned to use the Miniature Tactical Nuclear Bomb in the villa district, but that was their only chance to eliminate the founder of Kolo Film Industry.
Even now, the memory of the founder’s mutation process still made her feel nauseous.
"Your hand is burned; it needs treatment."
Gustav brought out a first aid kit, and after inspecting the burns on Monica’s palm carefully, was relieved to find it was just a conventional burn and those sinister machines hadn’t carried any strange virus.
After applying medicine and wrapping up the wound with a bandage, he said, "You’ll have to deal with the wound on your abdomen yourself; it’s getting late, get some rest."
Gustav was grateful he had gone to the founder’s villa, otherwise Monica’s abdomen would’ve had more than just a wound.
The founder’s home had undergone mechanized modifications, and the power of the weapons was unimaginable. Even though he had used his abilities, he could not completely neutralize the laser beams.
This was because he was not adept at dealing with attacks beyond his understanding.
Monica’s face was pale as she nodded and went into her room.
Not everyone had returned to the safe house.
Comrades who had acted together were caught off guard and their bodies were sliced into several pieces by lasers in the blink of an eye.
Gustav felt a strong sense of crisis.
Even Qi He’s information network hadn’t uncovered any relevant information. According to the intelligence they had, the founder of Kolo Film Industry had only made biomechanical modifications to his body for health benefits, but from the scene’s outcome, he clearly transformed himself into a monster.
And judging by the founder’s reaction to the Assassin, he seemed completely unaware of this.
He also had no idea that his villa had been transformed into a slaughterhouse.
Only when no more sound came from Monica’s room did Gustav finally call Qi He’s cell phone.
However, this time the call was not answered.
The safe house soon fell back into silence.
The unease grew stronger.
