Chapter 844: Chapter 829: Little Expert at Demolishing House
No matter what others thought, the events of tonight were also bad news for Song Lan.
Before dawn, an exhausted Guan Lili dialed his number.
She didn’t care about the life and death of the founder of Kolo Film Industry; she was originally just there for the spectacle. But as she watched, she discovered, to her horror, that the company’s building had been demolished. The sight of its destruction was familiar; she had once "fortunately" witnessed a similar scene in The Seventeenth Region.
"Tell me, did you start off by running a demolition company?"
Guan Lili’s heart was bleeding.
The demolition of the office building had a huge impact on her.
She had a lot of work data stored on her computer, which included many years of hard work. Now the in-house server was also destroyed along with the building. Heaven only knew whether those physically destroyed files could ever be recovered.
"My reports, my database, you owe me!"
She never imagined that with Song Lan present, the office building of Kolo Film Industry would still meet a destructive fate; or perhaps, she had misjudged Song Lan.
Guan Lili vaguely realized that wherever this man went, buildings would face catastrophic destruction.
The Seventeenth Region, The Second Region, and The First Region.
Their commonality was that after Song Lan left, these cities all began reconstruction work.
"Listen to me, there’s a reason for this."
Song Lan also felt somewhat embarrassed. After all, he had also worked in an office as a clerical staff member; he knew how many crucial files would be stored on office computers. "You might not believe it, but your building mutated. If it wasn’t dealt with promptly, it could have been very dangerous for you all when you came to work tomorrow."
"I heard the security chief mention it."
In the first moments of fleeing the building, the security chief was sent to the nearest prosthetic hospital.
Once his emotions stabilized, he recounted the events within the company to the corporate condolence representatives.
The chief claimed that mechanical monsters such as surveillance probes had grown inside the machines and cables of the company, which emitted laser beams and bullets, making him feel as if the entire building had suddenly come to life. He managed to escape because his body entered a "phased out" state.
During his escape, neither laser nor bullet could harm him as they passed right through his body.
To prove his account wasn’t false, the security chief, in front of the condolence representatives, grabbed a fruit knife from the hospital room and, gritting his teeth, sliced it across the back of his hand.
The blade immediately left a deep wound on his skin.
The doctors at the prosthetic hospital considered that the security chief had been hit in the head while fighting the assassin and that everything that followed was just his hallucination.
"Are you saying that our security chief isn’t crazy, and the building’s equipment really did mutate into mechanical monsters capable of shooting lasers and bullets?"
Guan Lili asked.
"I found an energy core in a compartment of the founder’s office. The mechanical monsters must have been drawing nutrients from there."
Upon hearing this, Guan Lili, who was lying in the back seat of a floating car, steadied her mind and gently massaged her slightly swollen forehead. She felt the world was becoming more and more incredible, even more twisted and bizarre than in movie scripts—could it be that the company’s founder had been raising a group of mechanical monsters right under everyone’s noses?
Although Song Lan was known for destruction, his words held credibility, and besides, she had seen the footage from the founder’s villa. That clip had been edited and was going viral on the internet.
Everyone had seen the founder’s neck split open, and a mechanical device emerged from within.
Most people guessed it was some sort of latest military-grade prosthetic.
Guan Lili took a deep breath at the thought...
But the thought that all the work files she had organized on her computer were gone made it impossible for her to breathe smoothly, and she choked, clutching her chest in pain.
When people speak of ’stepping back and getting angrier the more they think about it,’ they are probably referring to the current situation.
"Let’s talk about you guys. You probably can’t go back to Sean Grant’s villa now. Those people detonated a micro-nuclear bomb in the residential area. It’s unclear how many are dead, and Sean Grant’s house was within the blast radius. Now the Bureau of Paranormal Investigation and the Law Enforcers department have sealed off the whole area, so outsiders definitely can’t get in."
"No problem, we can stay in a hotel."
"I’m just afraid you might demolish the hotel too."
"It’s hard to say."
Song Lan felt it necessary to emphasize that he had no connections with demolition organizations and that he only resorted to such measures when absolutely necessary.
But at the moment, he couldn’t provide any guarantees to Guan Lili.
Even the "King" didn’t know where those mechanical creations came from. Now all the clues were pointing to the RT1-RT3, which had been removed from the group chat for some reason and might still make a comeback.
Guan Lili said, "I always keep my promises. I said I’d arrange accommodation for you, and I’ll do as I said even if the company building is gone. I’ll send you the address; the room is already booked."
"Thanks."
Song Lan pondered for a moment before asking, "Do you have your laptop or portable hard drive or something like that in the hotel?"
