Chapter 666: Chapter 666: There Are Many as Strong as Me_1

What on earth is going on?

Colin Capello felt his head throb with dullness; ever since a moment ago, he had felt that something wasn’t quite right.

He knelt there, looking at his right hand, which he had instinctively propped against the floor.

He felt nothing.

What was even more horrifying to him was that his forearm had passed through one of the knight’s leg armors, and yet the knight in front of him seemed completely unaware of it.

Could it be that all his subordinates were killed by that CP0 agent named Rob Lucci?

But then, another ominous premonition took hold in his heart.

When this thought emerged in his mind, a reasonable explanation for all the bizarre incidents that had occurred appeared, and it plunged him into an unprecedented fear that caused him to maintain the status quo, not wanting to take any further action.

Colin didn’t know how long he had stayed in this seemingly frozen world.

The "rain" had already stopped.

The exterior of the Consortium hospital was deserted.

Finally, he mustered his last bit of strength and turned his head.

His gaze passed through the crowd of the Knight Group and saw the figure that was still standing there—himself. Since a moment ago, he had done nothing; like the knights, he had been frozen in place.

As Colin looked back, it was as if time, which had been frozen, began to flow again.

He saw his own body seemed to move.

Yet this was not the result of a conscious decision; instead, in an unconscious state, it began to fall backward.

His body broke in half at the waist, just like those houses that were severed earlier. Sharing the same fate as the Scarlet Lord, who, in the moment when time came to a standstill, had posed in an attacking stance, his exuberant appearance had not yet had the chance to recede.

The scene before his eyes was not bloody.

Before blood or viscera could splatter, the broken bodies dissolved into dust.

Then, Colin saw a vortex appear behind him. An irresistible force pulled him into the swirl, and his consciousness gradually merged with the remnants and dust being drawn in, with the world before his eyes receding from him.

He, Colin Capello, was dead just like that?

Colin never received an answer to this question.

Because at the end of the vortex lay a world that seemed to isolate even thought itself.

"You, you..."

In the real world, Isabella, pale as death, turned to Song Lan, "Did you kill Colin Capello?"

She had never imagined that an agent from Military Intelligence Section Seven would truly dare to lay hands on the successor of the Consortium. No, more precisely, the Iris Consortium no longer existed; those castles that recorded their glory and pride had all turned into nothingness.

"I deeply regret this," he replied.

It sounded heartfelt because Isabella noticed that even the vulture perched on Song Lan’s shoulder seemed to pick up on its master’s emotions; its once spotlight-like pupils dimmed, becoming watery as if it could cry tears at any moment.

"But the United Government has bestowed upon us the power over life and death, and that is our duty."

At these words, the knights, as if waking from a dream, simultaneously touched their own bodies, feeling the cold temperature of their exoskeletal armor, but it was also the proof that they were still alive at this moment.

Joy at having survived the calamity and confusion about the future mingled together.

Young Master Colin Capello was dead.

They had also lost the Lord who led them.

They should have fought against the enemy before them to the very last moment, but when they looked back, even the Consortium they were supposed to defend with their lives had ceased to exist.

Fighting on seemed to have become an empty and meaningless act, with no effect other than to senselessly throw away their lives.

"What is CP0’s goal... Are you here to prevent this civil war, or to erase all potential threats?"

The Head Maid stood in front of Isabella.

Just now, she had experienced the greatest ups and downs of her life, but at the same time, she went through the process of betrayal. The person she had trusted, the one she wanted to entrust Isabella to, was actually an agent planted in the castle by Military Intelligence Section Seven. She made a decision that went against her position and the entire Gilvez Family.

When the Head Maid asked this question, Isabella and Song Lan’s eyes, which had been looking at each other, dodged away.

She knew why the Head Maid was asking this.

If CP0’s goal was to eradicate the Iris Consortium, then her fate as the heir to the Gilvez Family would not be much different from Colin Capello’s.

"Neither," Song Lan shook his head, "According to the information we have, your father, Mr. Richard Gilvez, was assassinated many years ago. The one who has been with you all these years was a substitute."

Not only Isabella and the Head Maid, but all the members of the Scarlet Knight Group present also heard this shocking fact.

"The United Government is already in turmoil; now is not the time for a civil war to break out. Please stand down."

This time, Song Lan didn’t ask for a favor from anyone present.

After a long period of experimentation, he realized that he was not an Ability User of the "face" fruit; besides the Death God Crabs that lived in the sands, there was hardly anyone who would truly be led astray by his influence.

So, he decided to try a different approach.

"This is the best outcome I could negotiate for everyone, and you don’t have much time left to consider it before my companion comes down from upstairs,"

Song Lan said with a solemn tone, "My companion is at least five times stronger than me, and if she takes action against you, none of you will have any chance of surviving."

Upon hearing this, the knights of the Scarlet Knight Group immediately set an example.

They uniformly disarmed themselves and stepped out of their exoskeleton armor.

"...Thank you, Mr. Lucky."

After leaving behind a nearly inaudible word of gratitude, the Head Maid finally succumbed to her overwhelming burden and fell into unconsciousness.

At that moment, Jasmine’s shocked gaze fell on Lu Xiang.

She had witnessed the entire process and had never heard of the organization CP0, but this man named Rob Lucci had shown strength beyond her comprehension; she could only vaguely sense that he was a Psychic, but as for what his abilities were, and to what terrifying extent his psychic strength had reached, she was unable to perceive.

However, considering the existence of criminals like δ, Jasmine felt that it was all very much in line with the United Government’s code of conduct.

Military Intelligence Section Seven was not affiliated with any family or company; they acted only on orders directly transmitted by the Review Meeting, and CP0 was presumably a top action department established at the behest of the Chairperson of the Council.

But just as she was finally beginning to understand the relationships involved, Song Lan revealed a piece of unexpected news.

This CP0 agent, who had disguised herself as a new recruit, was apparently over five times more powerful than Rob Lucci!

With the knowledge that Jasmine had as a Six-Star rescuer, she could not even begin to imagine the limits of Mo Lian’s strength.

To destroy a city or even a small country in the flick of a finger?

Where on earth did Military Intelligence Section Seven find such terrifying characters?

Moreover, Song Lan subtly disclosed another piece of information—their companion seemed to be a cold and cruel person, who, once she took action, would aim to eradicate everyone involved.

"Miss Mo Lian...Is what he said true?"

Jasmine’s cautious inquiry left Lu Xiang at a loss for words.

She had been looking on with amusement, but unexpectedly found herself suddenly cast as a character over five times stronger than the CP0 agent Rob Lucci—yet that Dumb Bird had never discussed this matter with her!

But faced with Jasmine’s probing eyes, Lu Xiang ultimately clenched her teeth and resignedly admitted, "Yes."

The sensational internal war of the Iris Consortium was drawing to a close.

There were no winners in this war.

The Monk Family was completely wiped out, leaving only Franthing as the sole survivor; following Colin Capello’s death, members of the Capello Family who instigated the war fled the Second District one after another, while the remaining members of the Gilvez Family were forced to confront their now-ruined castle, and with the current head of the family, Richard Gervis, gone missing, their future could only be described as uncertain.

Even if they could regroup and rebuild the castle, regaining their past glory would be difficult.

Their position within the Conservative Faction would soon be replaced, and it would be a long time before any councilor emerged from their family again.

Song Lan, however, did not relax with the end of the internal war. Before dawn, they searched every corner of the castle, but could not find the personal maid of Colin.

With δ’s knowledge of the past, it would likely take advantage of the chaos to attack Song Lan or others with psychic bombs, yet after a night of searching, δ frustratingly found that "Dominate" had changed.

It had chosen to flee.

"It must have been that Ceremony array that’s to blame; it and Richard were also pulled into the array and then vanished,"

δ proactively reported the outcome of its investigation, officially becoming the Devil’s friend.

At least, that’s how the Devil defined it.

"Well done; we’ll encounter it again someday. You can go rest now,"

δ could scarcely believe its ears.

The Devil had actually uttered words of appreciation and even permitted it to rest first?

The Consortium hospital became the only intact building within the castle, and they were now on the hospital’s rooftop terrace, with the Sun about to rise in the distance.

"Back in the underground labyrinth..."

δ did not leave, feeling that its fear of the Devil wasn’t as intense as when they first met; or perhaps, even a Devil could have a calm and peaceful conversation once in a while. So, it decided to share its suspicion with the Devil, before deciding once again to destroy another city, "I suspect that those Worms are targeting the Six-Star rescuers."

This matter concerned Jasmine’s safety, so δ had also become much more invested.

"What makes you say that?"

"They seem to be trying to complete a certain Ceremony by which to transform the Six-Star rescuers into what they wish to see. ’Dominate’ mentioned that, apart from it, many of its kind had also sided with the consciousness aggregate, whom they regard as a New God,"

But to δ, that so-called consciousness aggregate was nothing more than a poor substitute for the Whisper.

"I think that this is probably the real purpose behind those Worms replacing the leaders of companies or families; they want the authority to mobilize the Six-Star rescuers."
