Chapter 665: Chapter 665: A Better World_1

"I hope everyone will do me the honor of ending this farce,"

...

For a moment, Colin Capello actually considered the suggestion made by the man with the vulture perched on his arm.

Despite the Capello Family appearing to have clinched the final victory in this civil war, there were still many mysteries left unsolved.

Whereabouts of the Head Knight Rose and her sister, the extent of injuries to the nearly invincible maid, the "old friend" she had mentioned, and the CP0 agency of Military Intelligence Section Seven he had never heard of.

Then he saw Isabella’s helpless expression, and malice surged continuously in his heart.

An unprecedented wave of negative emotion engulfed him instantly, those memories seared in the deepest recesses of his mind, one after another, appeared before his eyes.

From the moment of his birth, he had been overshadowed by Isabella and the Gilvez Family.

No, not just him, but the entire Capello Family, and everything within the Consortium.

Everyone knew Isabella was destined to inherit it all.

His father had developed a drinking habit out of dissatisfaction with Richard Gervis, becoming everyone’s nightmare whenever he returned home, drunk and senseless.

He recalled how no matter how strictly he disciplined himself, he could never avoid being beaten by his father, who had lost all reason, as if he were no more than an object — those horrific nights replaying before his eyes, and he felt the bone-deep pain once more.

This reminded Colin of how long he had endured, waiting for this moment.

Starting the civil war and crushing both the Gilvez and Monk Families were just the first steps of his plan.

Once the strife in this castle stabilized, he would find every person who had hurt him, who had left him with painful memories, including his alcoholic father.

"How could it possibly end just like this?"

Colin Capello’s distorted expression sent shivers down the spine of the staring Isabella, "I’ve been waiting for this moment every single day, Isabella, Isabella, I will never simply kill you, I have many plans arranged for you, enough to accompany you for a lifetime!"

He said, his gaze becoming unprecedentedly resolute, "And you, make no mistake, this is Iris Consortium territory, even the Review Meeting has no authority to intervene in our internal affairs!"

It was a sorrowful answer.

It not only meant that Song Lan’s face fruit had failed once again but also that he had to watch helplessly as a potential friend descended into the abyss.

At the behest of the Scarlet Lord, all knights who had declared loyalty to the Capello Family charged fiercely toward the Consortium hospital, surrounded now like a lone leaf adrift in the tumultuous sea waves.

Isabella instinctively took a few steps back.

Colin’s malice and hatred were fully transmitted to her, making her realize that falling into his hands could possibly be more tragic than death itself.

The Head Maid reached for one of the few remaining daggers, but before she could act, she stumbled and knelt on the ground, her vision blurring as she coughed up large amounts of blood, staining the ground red.

Jasmine, who had been hiding in the shadows, also grew tense.

Ever since Colin appeared, she had been bracing for the worst.

The enemies were just too many, and "Dominate" was very likely lurking in the shadows, waiting for them to reveal a moment of weakness.

Escape.

This thought surfaced in Jasmine’s mind; it seemed to be the only option left for them if the agents from CP0 could cooperate. Perhaps they could find a glimmer of hope in the encirclement of the Knight Group.

As long as the enemy couldn’t decipher her ability quickly, they could find that glimmer of hope.

She kept her eyes on Song Lan’s back, waiting for the signal from him to act and retreat.

But even as the knights broke through the hospital’s main gate of the Consortium, flooded inside, and surrounded them at the center, aiming their exoskeleton-armored Shell Launchers at him, he took no action.

This was no ceremonial display of martial prowess; every knight participating in the civil war had real lethal weapons loaded in their Shell Launchers.

Even δ was drowned in a sense of despair.

The shadows within the walls curled into a ball; she crouched in a corner, clutching her head, trembling violently.

Until, Song Lan’s voice came through once more.

"Then, I shall have to personally see you off on your journey,"

This might be the last thing he could do for his friends, he had promised in his heart to take them to a better place.

Calmly, he watched those knights cut as if from the same mould; he never got to know those friends’ faces, only knew they wore the armor that once symbolized the knights’ noble spirit, the immaculate white intertwined with scarlet.

Behind them stood the castle, a symbol of the Iris Consortium’s ancient history.

It was a sacred, inviolable sanctuary in the eyes of outsiders, who could spend their whole lives without ever stepping past the gates.

Yet within this holy land, a bloody history was played out time and again.

"Ever since arriving at the castle, I’ve been pondering a question: for Sector Two and for this world, what is a better place?"

Colin didn’t want to wait for Song Lan to continue, every word the other spoke intensified his inner turmoil.

Yet, he had nothing to fear.

The Monk Family had almost been fully annihilated, and his people had already sealed off all the escape routes from the Iris Consortium hospital.

More importantly, he still held the ultimate trump card in his hand.

There was nothing to fear from Military Intelligence Section Seven.

He comforted himself repeatedly, recalling those spies from Military Intelligence Section Seven who had been detained and arrested by the Personal Guard, mere intelligence personnel, no match for knights who had undergone intense training.

The Scarlet Lord had faithfully executed his orders, even if it meant antagonizing the entire Military Intelligence Section Seven.

"Kill him!"

Beyond personal grievances, the Scarlet Lord knew that as long as he dealt with the opponent, neither Military Intelligence Section Seven nor CP0 would ever know what had happened here.

The Shell Launcher burst out with dazzling firelight, illuminating the castle like fireworks in the night.

"I have come to a conclusion."

Colin’s eyes widened as he watched Song Lan’s actions, convinced the man must be insane. Facing an armed Knight Group, he merely tilted his body and lifted his right leg.

"A world without the Iris Consortium is a better place."

Colin also saw that, before the firepower of the Shell Launcher completely engulfed Song Lan, it seemed he had completed a sweeping kick.

That brilliance, spreading out like a blade, broke through the roar and explosions, cutting through them all in a manner so fast it was almost hallucinatory.

After an unknown amount of time, the hall returned to silence.

The flames and explosions seemed unable to affect the person before him. Colin’s mouth hung open, unable to utter a sound. His limbs cold, he could only gasp for air as if dehydrated.

Both parties stood frozen in this eerie manner, for a minute, or perhaps even longer. Colin finally broke free from that immovable state; the first thing he did was to reach for his abdomen, as if to ascertain that he had not been bisected by the fleeting light.

It was too quiet here.

Everyone seemed to be frozen in place.

Then, a smile finally appeared on his face.

He was still alive.

The light that had swept past the crowd must have been a hallucination triggered by the explosion, "What are you waiting for, kill him!"

This time, however, no one responded to his command.

What followed was a series of rumblings, coming from behind him, outside the Consortium hospital, stretching far into the distance.

He seemed to finally understand, turning his head to look.

In the end, he saw the source of the noise.

One after another, the historic and glorious edifices of the Iris Consortium were collapsing, as if someone had cleanly severed them, and even more bizarrely, the fractured buildings were not falling to the ground but were suspended by some invisible force in the night sky.

Not just him, but everyone in the second district witnessed this happen.

People stopped in their tracks, those who hadn’t immediately realized the anomaly at the castle came out into the streets due to the exclamations of others; it was quite a prolonged process. They watched the buildings they could usually only look up to in the sky breaking apart, eventually being reduced from complete structures into fragmented blocks, returning to their most primitive form as building materials.

Even the state of the fragments lasted only briefly; they continued to dissipate and crumble at a speed visible to the naked eye.

People seemed to forget the passage of time, and also forgot to record the entire process with phones and other recording devices.

Under the bright moonlight, the symbols they revered turned to dust.

"What, what are you doing!?"

Colin’s shriek became sharp and piercing, mixed with an uncontrollable tremor. His face was taut with veins, discarding any semblance of noble demeanor.

"Stop stop stop stop—!"

All he could do was to repeat the same phrase in frenzy.

Yet his screaming could not halt the castle’s disintegration. He could only watch with wide eyes as everything he had schemed for over a decade turned into a silent rain, falling on the ground of the second district.

An indescribable sense of loss filled Colin’s heart.

It was like a very long dream.

At the end of the dream, it seemed he had regained control over his body.

He ran out desperately, but the knights of the Scarlet Knight Group did not make way for him, they continued to stand like soulless puppets.

"Make way for me!"

The knights ignored Colin’s command.

In his infuriated embarrassment, Colin tried to push away the person in front of him.

Then, his hand passed through the body.

Out of inertia, he stumbled and fell into the crowd.
