Chapter 511: Chapter 511: Found You_1

Meanwhile, in a certain place in the West District of the Seventeenth District.

Angle Saffire stood by the window of the safe house, watching the mechanized forces continuously flow into the city, a strong sense of familiarity surged through his mind.

This scene seemed eerily familiar.

It felt as though he had personally witnessed its arrival at some point in time and place.

However, when he tried to recall the details, he realized that, in theory, it was impossible for him to have ever seen this mechanized army.

"I must capture this moment and make it public!"

The female reporter picked up her camera, her voice tinged with both panic and excitement — this was certainly unprecedented news. Without any prior indication, a military action had been taken against the Seventeenth District; her instinct told her that what would follow would truly expose the darkness of the United Government to the people of this world.

Even she could never have imagined that the incident triggered by Dream Manufacture would ultimately end in such a magnificent manner.

She aimed her shooting equipment out of the window.

Even if she couldn’t survive the "cleansing operation," she was determined to preserve this precious footage, allowing everyone to witness everything that was happening in the Seventeenth District at this moment.

However, at the moment she pressed the recording button with great excitement, the image that came back on the device’s screen stunned her into stillness.

What appeared on the screen were only the clear blue sky and the city, looking just like it did on any normal day.

The mechanized troops that had just swept past her had left no trace on her device.

The reporter instinctively thought the device was malfunctioning, but no matter how she adjusted it, the lens captured the same scene.

"Could this also be the United Government’s latest technology? One that prevents the army from being captured by shooting equipment?"

She blurted out in surprise.

"They don’t exist."

After a long while, Angle spoke up.

A feeling deep inside guided him, making him understand some information he theoretically couldn’t have known.

This army arose from someone’s ability.

Even among the many Psychics documented by the United Government, it was researched and listed as one of the most powerful abilities — an army that did not exist in this world yet could inflict real hits in the real world.

And only the enemies of this army could perceive their existence.

Angle’s brain was working furiously, a stream of information bubbled up, and he quickly realized that this intelligence didn’t belong to him but was related to his own situation.

Perhaps, ever since he escaped from the Seventh District, something had latched onto him.

"Found you."

The ocular surveillance drone that suddenly appeared at the window scanned them through the glass, emitting a sinister and grating mechanical synthesized voice.

In an instant, the mechanized troops patrolling the city found their target, all converging toward the safe house’s direction as if by agreement.

The sound of the Gatling gun interrupted the female reporter’s thoughts, and as the bullets rained down, someone pushed her to the other side.

By the time she came to her senses, the bullets from the Gatling gun had turned the safe house into a sieve.

This mechanized army, controlled by who knows who, loyally executed the commands it had received, and they would not stop attacking until they confirmed the death of their target.

Before she could get up from the ground, the shockwave from the explosion sent her flying, thankfully the couch where she landed acted as a cushion, preventing her from passing out from the violent impact.

The wall beside the window collapsed with a booming sound, allowing her to see the true scene outside in that instant.

A swarm of robotic drones covered the sky like dark clouds, and the mechanized troops, which she had only seen on TV or in military brochures, occupied the streets. It was bombers streaking across the sky that had blown up the walls.

At that moment, they seemed to have become the enemies of the entire world.

Shock and despair intertwined in her heart. This war machine, capable of destroying a city, appeared to have descended upon them solely for the two of them.

An omnipresent mechanical synthetic voice repeated the same message.

"Found you."

They repeated this signal over and over, all the war machines were linked by these four words.

The scenes that came into view made the female journalist realize her insignificance. She couldn’t muster an effective resistance and could only feebly take out her filming equipment to capture the mechanized troops that kept scanning them with their flashing red scanners.

Even so, the device failed to capture any useful images.

In the lens of the equipment, there was nothing ahead but broken walls and flames that had not yet extinguished.

She felt that her life might be snuffed out just like the fire before her eyes.

"What are you dawdling for?"

In her daze, someone pulled her up from the floor and, before the next assault arrived, they fled the room.

Sounds of explosions and gunfire followed them, but they barely dodged. Bullets and shells seemed to consciously avoid them.

In the back alley, they found the decrepit car that had allowed them to escape from the hands of the Exceptional Cases Bureau, surrounded by military drones.

Compared to the omnipresent war machines outside, this car could only be described as junk.

It was a used car she had bought at a low price years ago through a middleman. As a newspaper reporter with a meager salary, that had been her limit.

She had never imagined that this car, which had been used for so many years and changed hands numerous times, would become their only hope of escaping the battlefield.

"I should have taken out a loan!"

She brushed aside all distracting thoughts, and the fear and despair in her heart seemed to fade. She was the first to rush to the driver’s seat, shouting half-jokingly in amusement.

She looked towards Angle Safron beside her.

Another thing she could never have dreamed of was that the person accompanying her in the final moments of her life would be the United Government’s most wanted fugitive.

"Ante."

"Hmm?"

"That’s my name, don’t forget it."

She floored the accelerator, tossing all traffic rules behind her.

The engine roared, followed by sounds of impending collapse. These burdensome noises seemed to signal that the car could fall apart at any moment.

Bullets from the military drones poured down on the vehicle.

Naturally, a cheap secondhand car wouldn’t have a bulletproof coating, and bullets easily left dense clusters of holes in the doors. However, at that moment, Ante felt like they were like the protagonists in movies blessed with luck, dodging the gunfire in almost unbelievable ways, and breaking out of the alley under fire.

The mechanized troops caught up.

Gunpowder and explosions lit their way forward.
