Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 763: A Feast
The galaxy is endless.
It's a fine night with stars flickering in the sky. At the turn of May on the sky, there was only a silver moon arc left in the frost that day, and it hooked like a hook between the stars. The Fire of Death was the largest, and it was like a disk. Its entire body was flowing with a dark red moonlight that was like flames, dyeing the earth with a faint red halo.
The world was filled with killing intent.
Loneliness was the eternal theme of the Crimson Flame Highlands at night. Especially under the Fire Moon tonight, the oppressive atmosphere made the native species of the highlands unwilling to move and hide in their nests to sleep. At night, when there was no wind, the sound of a flying car engine could finally be heard from a very far distance. Two dots of light first appeared in the night. The dots of light continued to expand, and then they transformed into two beams of light that spread across the ground, appearing in the slightest.
A red lizard was flashed by the light and flew into a nearby cave. He extended his triangular head and looked out with his infrared vision. His round eyes clearly reflected the scene of a flying car passing by. It was a tactical flying car. The high-energy cannon platform on the car gave the lizard an invisible sense of pressure. The clever little fellow immediately retreated into the depths of the cave and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
The flying chariot was painted with the symbol of the Golden Griffin. It was a war chariot belonging to the Fierce Vulture army. This was a defensive area for Bescot, and even though the alien coalition army had already retreated, daily night patrols were indispensable. The flying car circled far away from the Thousand Eye Spring. It had already become a marsh country. The water from hundreds of boiling springs gathered together, and the water level was enough to drown the tactical flying car.
The flying car drove in the valley where Shi Ya flew into the air. Here, arched stones rose from the ground, flying diagonally like the fangs of a giant beast, like a flying beam suspension bridge. In the vast desolation, the flying car entered and exited in the shadow of the arch stones, following the prescribed route. The flying car came to a halt as it passed a rolling hill. A soldier jumped out of the car, joking with his companions as he walked to the foot of the mountain and pissed on a huge cave at the foot of the mountain.
After the convenience was over, the soldiers were about to turn back. Suddenly, he felt something and his scalp exploded. He immediately turned around and raised his rifle to aim at the cave. A moment later, a spiny, hound-sized exotic beast with a disproportionately small head emerged from the cave. The stinger dog quickly left, quickly moving away from the range of the flying car's beam of light.
Only then did the soldier know that he was in a false alarm and walked back awkwardly with his gun. "Pete, you're getting less and less courageous. You're scared out of your wits by a dog," laughed your companion in the car.
"Your dog has thorns all over its body?" The soldier rolled his eyes.
His companion laughed even happier, "Even if it looks a little weird, it's just a dog, isn't it? It's just a dog from this planet, Peter. Tell us, did you pee your pants?"
"Get lost." The soldier cursed angrily, got into the flying car, and closed the door.
The flying car restarted, turned around a few arched stones, and disappeared into the night. After a while, a strong wind suddenly blew out from the cave at the foot of the mountain, causing sand to fill the sky. Two dots of light lit up in the pitch-black cave. When a figure drilled out of the cave, it turned out to be a pair of eyes. This was an extremely tall figure. It was five to six meters tall, forcing the other party to bend down when he drilled out of the cave entrance.
When he left the cave and stepped on the ground, his figure stood upright. Under the bloody light of Fire Moon, a head of long hair dyed red and purple by the moonlight danced wildly in the night breeze. The strands of hair danced like millions of swimming snakes. Under the snake's hair was an exquisite face. The moonlight slid from her firm nose to her tightly pursed lips, then from her slender neck to her plump two peaks. Finally, she tried her best to drill into the deep gully between the two peaks, unable to wander.
"There he is" Karin whispered in a hoarse, deep voice. She gazed into the distance, and after crossing countless arches, hills, barracks, and the earth, a grand outline lay across the horizon.
Blood Gate Stronghold!
"Lord Karin, let's hurry up and leave. This place, this place is too dangerous." A short figure emerged from the cave. He was indeed very short, about 1.5 meters. She had a wrinkled face and was wearing a long robe full of stains. A long whip covered with barbs was wrapped around his waist, and he was rubbing his hands as he looked up at the female giant in front of him.
Karin took a deep breath and her voice blew like a strong wind. She said, "Jose, I'm very close to him. I can feel it."
"Exactly who is this person? To let Sir take such a risk and approach him?"
"That's my brother." Karin licked her lips, and a crazy spark jumped in the depths of her pupils. "He's a big meal."
"Unfortunately, this feast seems to be hidden in a sturdy safe." The alien named Yusi said.
"It doesn't matter. Then let's cut a hole in the safe." Karin turned around and said, "How many of my slaves are left?"
"Not much."
"Really? It doesn't matter. Bring them all over. Even if they're all dead, it doesn't matter. In any case, there are as many slaves as you want." Karin narrowed her eyes in the direction of the Blood Gate Stronghold. "Wait a moment, my brother. We'll see each other again soon."
Only then did she turn around and leave with large strides.
Back at the camp, Peter fell asleep. Night patrols weren't an easy job. On the contrary, they consumed more energy than they did during the day. He had to change shifts with his vigil brother to-morrow morning, dozed off during the day now, and would probably be scolded by the bad-tempered Santon again. Shanton was the head of the small camp, and Peter and a hundred other soldiers were his immediate superiors. A bald, muscular, swearing old drunkard.
Without much force, Peter quickly fell asleep. But in less than ten minutes, he suddenly heard a loud shout in his ear, "Get up, stinking brat. Do you want to wait until the sun shines on your butt before you get up? I'm telling you, you can't! From now on, I'm going to see you outside in a minute, the last guy to appear. Hey, run a hundred laps around the camp for me!"
Peter struggled to get up from the camp bed and saw a short but sturdy figure smash out of the barracks gate. He sighed and looked out of the window. As expected, the sky had already lit up again.
This sentinel camp, located at the edge of the defensive zone, had over a hundred soldiers stationed there. There were two flying vehicles assigned to monitor the surrounding area for tens of kilometers. Life in the camp was simple and busy. Every day when the sun rose, the soldiers had to get up and train early. Under Shanton's whip, no training was simple. The same was true of morning training. This officer, who was secretly called the Devil Shanton by the soldiers behind him, would always use tricks to drain the soldiers' stamina every day before letting them go to breakfast.
After breakfast was actually the beginning of the day. Half of the soldiers had their own work to do. Every day, they would receive a schedule. The day's work had to be completed according to the schedule above. As for the unemployed soldiers, it was even worse, because Shanton would arrange a lot of training for them. These exercises will exhaust them, but they will not exceed their physical fitness limits.
Santon always had the right grasp of this. Even so, the soldiers in the camp still hoped to get those cute schedules every day, because that way, they could temporarily stay away from Demon Mountain. However, the work in the camp was arranged on a rotational basis, as if Peter had already received the schedule yesterday. Today and tomorrow, he had to stay in the camp and spend two extremely difficult days under Shanton's devilish gaze before receiving the schedule again.
Such repetitions were like seasons changing, endless cycles.
Peter and the rest of the soldiers didn't think they were lucky when they saw an unlucky man being sent off by Shanton for being late. Morning training would not be much easier than running a hundred laps around the playground. Instead, they would have to endure the invisible pressure from Shanton. The muscular soldier was made of steel, and the sharp edges of his muscles made the soldier feel a slight stab of pain.
Shanton wore a vest and camouflage trousers and square-headed boots. He stood on the ground with his feet, but a simple posture was domineering and fierce, like Guan Shan Xiongyi, with an awe-inspiring aura. He swept his sharp gaze across the soldier in front of him and smiled with his lips, "The content of this morning's morning training is fighting."
Many people smiled when they heard the word fighting. It was much easier than physical training. Only a dozen veterans who were familiar with Shanton knew that this demon officer would not be able to give such an easy training. Sure enough, Santon added, "But your opponent is me. Yes, I'm all soft on you. You can choose to fight one-on-one. Of course, this is a stupid decision. I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to do so. They could also attack together, whether it was two people, ten people, or all of them. "As long as I can touch the ground, no matter where it is, as long as I touch the ground, I will lose."
Sandon grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth. "Of course, the soles of your feet aren't. Those who are planning to take advantage of the situation should give up. If I lose, the challenger can win two days of vacation. That's right, two days. No job, no training, you can think about it anywhere you want. You can drink with girls anywhere you want."
Peter whispered, "What if we lose?"
"Nothing. I'm a very fair person. If you lose, your training will double. That's all."
Shanton looked at the old watch on his wrist and heard that it was left behind by his grandfather. Mechanical watches accurately show when they appeared. "I'll give you a minute to prepare," Santon said. "When the time comes, let's have a good time."
Then he walked away a little.
The soldiers could only gather together with bitter faces. Several veterans suggested that everyone go together. After all, if there were only a few of them, they would never be able to bring down Shanton, this steel mountain. This attention quickly passed. After Shanton shouted, the dozen or so veterans rushed forward first, followed by the rest of the soldiers. Thus, a single-handedly battle began against forty people.
