Edge of the Apocalypse -
Chapter 762: Special Benefits
Three days later, Celine was discharged from the hospital.
Allen and Lucy went to the hospital to pick her up. Celine's injuries were almost healed. The doctor suggested that she could do some rehabilitation training, but she could not have a high-intensity battle. However, Celine didn't seem to care much about her appearance. This straightforward woman had already installed an electronic eye prosthesis. The prosthetic eye looked no different from a normal person's eye. It was rare for the hospital to choose the same pupil color for her. Apart from the occasional flashes of lightning in the depths of the prosthetic eye's pupils, it was difficult for an unknown person to distinguish it from a normal eye.
According to Celine's request, Alan had someone order a half mask. This was a pottery mask. The producer even went to the hospital to personally make a facial inversion for Celine, so that after the mask was finished, it could be close to Celine's facial features. In fact, this mask did not disappoint Celine. After she put on the mask, if she stood a little further away, it would be very difficult to find that she was wearing a mask.
Unlike ordinary masks, this mask was very thin, about the thickness of a piece of paper. Its surface is covered with tiny pores, which can be used for breathing. Its only weakness was its expressionlessness, but Celine didn't care about it.
On the same day, she wore this mask and returned to the family camp with Allen.
Reese and the others had already prepared a small welcoming party for her when they arrived at the barracks assigned by the hunting group, giving Celine a big surprise. Taking advantage of the crowd, Allen handed over a few merit cards to the leaders of the hunting squads. Allen had already given them merit cards. Among them, the Black Knights, the Silver Heavenly Horses, and the Judges gave out more merit points. After all, they bore the main burden of the battle. Reese and Sock had no objections to this.
The Silver Heavenly Horse's Fraser had died in battle, and the Guild Leader was temporarily replaced by another warrior named Leonard. After receiving the military credit he deserved, Leonard pulled Ellen over and apologized, "We want to withdraw early, Young Master Ellen. I know this request is a bit excessive, but Commander Fraser has died in the battle, and no one seems to have the mood to continue fighting."
Once Fraser died, the Leonard in front of him was only Level 15. It was obvious that the Silver Heavenly Horse was too weak to be the leader of this group. It was reasonable that they chose to withdraw, and Allen immediately agreed and entrusted them with bringing back the pensions of the Red Warriors and the other deceased to Earth so that they could be handed over to the families of the deceased.
Leonard did not expect Alan to agree so happily. He immediately nodded and said, "Don't worry, Young Master Alan. I guarantee that the money will be handed over to all the families."
"Then I'll leave it to you." Alan patted him on the shoulder.
At the end of the reception, Ellen found Celine and smiled, "Come to my room. There's something I want to give you."
Unexpectedly, these words attracted the attention of everyone. Reese blinked his eyes and said, "Boss, this is unfair. Why are you giving Miss Celine benefits alone? Or are you saying that we don't need those benefits?"
The men looked at each other and smiled. Alan shook his head and said, "Celine's weapon was damaged in the last battle. I got another set for her. Now I'll leave it to her. Where did you all go?"
Reese and the others laughed dryly. Celine pulled Ellen's arm and said, "I don't mind the boss giving me some special benefits."
Ellen couldn't stand their adult jokes and stroked his forehead, "I've recruited you guys no matter what."
As they laughed, Celine and Alan left. Arriving at Allen's room, Celine quieted down. When Alan went to get her equipment, she stood by the window alone. With her hand on the windowsill, Celine looked out of the window at the playground with a tranquil expression, completely different from her unrestrained appearance just now. It wasn't until Ellen took the kit box that she smiled again, "What good thing does the boss want to give me?"
"Not very good equipment, but it's not bad." Allen opened it, took out the Dawn of the Empire set, and handed it to Celine.
Celine saw that it was actually a combination of a shield and a longsword. Apart from the different styles, it was no different from her usual weapon combination. She separated the shield from the sword and casually made a few movements. She nodded and said, "It's much better than my previous equipment."
"This is a set of magical equipment. Shields and longswords have different abilities. If you have time these days, you can familiarize yourself with them. The military merits you used to exchange for them cost me my own personal share. So you don't need to worry. Your Black Knights have received a lot of military merits."
Celine put the Sword of Enlightenment into the inner sheath of her shield and sighed, "Boss, you're too kind to me. I don't even want to go to war. Or maybe you should just be your woman, the type of lover. How about it?"
"Don't play with me," Alan said with a headache.
Celine laughed, "Alright, alright, I'm not joking with you anymore. I like this set of equipment very much, thank you, boss. If there's nothing else, I'll leave first. I'm going to be rusty in the hospital. Now I need someone to practice with me. It's time to test their performance."
"Just watch yourself. Don't force yourself."
"I see."
After sending Celine off, Alan exhaled. Seeing that Celine's demeanor was still the same, she finally felt relieved. At this time, he received a text message, but the hospital wanted him to go back so that he could have a detailed examination of the reconnected left arm. Alan informed Lucy and drove to the field hospital.
It was already dusk when he left the hospital, and the afternoon was almost spent on exams and an extra minor operation. The medical ring was removed, and Alan's broken arm's bones had been joined and stabilized. Although the skeleton at the junction was still relatively weak, it could already be used normally. Of course, it would still take some time for him to recover to his combat state, but it was already good news for Alan.
He left the hospital in a light flying car and drove on the road to the camp. Twilight sunlight shone from the side of the car and landed on Allen's face. The car was playing some relaxed music, and Alan even snorted a few times. His mood was the most relaxed in the past few days. Seeing that the camp was about to arrive, the light in front of him suddenly dimmed. The steering wheel of the flying car, the instrument table, the road in front of the car, the campsite in the distance, and so on were all pulled away one by one. In the end, all that remained was darkness.
In this darkness, fire rose again, and Allen's eyes were dyed with a layer of bloody light. The strong smell of blood rushed into Alan's nose as if he had accidentally fallen into a sea of blood.
Suddenly, the smell of blood receded like a tide, and the world returned to its original state. The music in the car was still ringing, as if it was just a brief dream that Alan had just had.
He knew that it was not a dream, but Karin!
