Dungeon? This Tree? Why Don't You Join Me for Lunch? (Dungeon Core) -
Chapter 89: Iron Stomach!
Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Iron Stomach!
I felt a stench in the air. For a second, I thought that there was something wrong with the soup! My heart began to race!
Only to see that the onions, garlic, and the green onions I had placed inside the pot didn’t look like charcoal. I sighed.
Man, what was with the weather these days?
I added the two tablespoons of flour, making sure that it didn’t end up as clumps.
Stirring, frying, trying to think about anything but the foul odor of the water which was going to fall down on us all.
If that water touched the soil, I told myself, as I began to use the mana I was stealing from the tourists for a barrier which protected the entire forest, as well as the gnome and human villages, then we were all done for.
I had no idea back then, but I was racing against time. Finally, I got something that looked like a nice mixture of flour and greens.
I took the bowl with the glowing golden mushrooms. I didn’t know it, but Alexios gave out a roar which to me sounded like thunder.
Fin told me everything afterward.
Man, we laughed ourselves silly!
The finely cut mushrooms touched the bottom of the pot, I began to stir them around this way and that.
Their aroma filled the Tree of Memories with a divine scent!
A scent the tree let out into the world.
It made bears stop biting the heads of fish off and throwing the rest down on the ground! It made foxes stop chasing after rabbits!
It made the wolf lay down next to the lamb!
And a certain Lich King became so weak that Solas’ body expelled him.
The foul stench went away. I could feel Lamia’s mana gathering the water from those acidic clouds.
Now... better with her than on the soil, I told myself, but I still wanted for Wrath to survive.
And, apparently, I wanted to kill a Lich King. It might have been a dream of mine, I don’t know.
I used my skill on the soup, just as I was adding the broth. Figuring that I could just roast the chicken leg over a camping fire now that it was nice and tender and send it off for Wrath to share with Drusilla!
For him to show her love! To show he cared!
Now, cooking is an art form.
No different from drawing, writing, woodcarving, what-have-you that makes you exercise not only your mind and body, but also your soul.
And when done with love, all art is special!
It was what I told myself, as the soup turned into a nice golden-orange color. I tried it.
My hair curled up!
I decided that, should Dru need better curls, that soup was still going to do something for her.
That soup, which, had Alexios still been in Solas’ corpse, would have brought him back to life as a human.
There the poor Lich King was, staring at the empty pot, the contents of which I had sent off to Wrath and Drusilla, with something that was almost.... longing.
"Yo," I told him because I honestly believed that he was here to apologize for humping Methuselah.
"You killed me," it was spoken so quietly, that I barely heard it. But he did say it.
"Look," I honestly didn’t know what to do with the man. I didn’t want to kill him, but I didn’t even know what the golden mushrooms did.
I had good intentions, I swear!
I took a golden mushroom, cut it up, placed the parts on a stick and threw the stick over a fire.
"Food will make it all better," I must have sounded evil to him because he made a step back.
I took it as a sign that he was just scared that he wouldn’t get his last meal before he ended up on the other side of the rainbow, so to speak.
"Ok! Ok! I’ll be quicker about it!" activating a rune that speeds up the cooking shouldn’t be accompanied by a scream... but it was.
He vanished. The mushroom kebab was smelling divine.
But he was a tricky one, that Alexios. Knowing that I was a drake, and knowing that I had mushrooms which could kill him, he had done the logical thing:
Hidden inside the Tree of Memories.
Trying to take over its dungeon core: me!
But I was hungry; there was a perfectly roasted mushroom kebab waiting to be eaten.
As I ate the final mushroom, I heard a scream and a crash.
The poor sod ran away.
I felt so energetic that I started to turn more of my mushrooms golden!
Man... I was evil in my innocence.
"Hey," Amdis said, who had been looking at me from a dark corner the whole time. "What are you cooking?"
"Mushrooms," because I felt that Brandon and Doran would benefit from them. And that strange goblin who looked old now.
It was a happy day, even though I didn’t know it. A nice sunny day!
The mushrooms glowed, Alexios hid where he could, only for the mushrooms to chase him away from the place as soon as I began to fry, grill, or even boil the golden healing mushrooms!
I ate from my own cooking with the appetite of someone who had found their new favorite comfort food! I ate, getting rid of my dark mana.
Of my dark nymph status.
Making sure that even Aron ate! I didn’t know if Aron knew he was giving up his immortality as a vampire with each bite he took, but he ate with the gusto of a child given potato chips for the first time!
Seeing him so made me cook more!
As with all cooking sprees, there were leftovers. Leftovers I sent to Pan, Mordred and Morty!
Making them...
Well...
Belladonna sure must have been angry, I slipped through her fingers now! I mean, if that power was hers, she would have taken over the world!
But the mother of my child did manage to steal a single mushroom stick from Pan.
And now, well... it is hard to explain.
But, darn, did I not love the fact that the World System was full of death threats of someone who was clearly stuck in the bathroom!
Yes, I was slowly turning evil!
And loving it!
