Chapter 74: Drunk Woman
Chapter 74: Drunk Woman
Aurora stood in her bedroom, the calming sound of rain pattering against the windows as she finished applying moisturizing cream to her skin.
Her V-neck nightgown, soft and flattering, hugged her gently, especially around her growing belly.
She was ready to slip into bed when a knock echoed on her door.
"Come in," she called out softly.
The door creaked open, and Ava stepped in, her expression slightly troubled. "Sorry if I’m interrupting your rest."
Aurora shook her head, offering a small smile. "Oh no, you’re not."
Ava nodded, relieved. "I just wanted to inform you... the security man told me there’s a drunk woman outside the mansion. She’s refusing to leave."
Aurora raised an eyebrow, curious. "A drunk woman?"
"Yes," Ava confirmed, walking toward the window. "You can see her from here."
Aurora slipped her soft slippers onto her feet and joined Ava at the window.
As she peered through the rain-streaked glass, she saw her—Julia, kneeling in the pouring rain.
Her hair clung to her face as the rain battered down on her, and then, to Aurora’s surprise, Julia began to scream.
"How could you do this to me?" Julia’s voice cracked through the night air. "You’re an actress too! You know how it feels! Watching everything I built crumble..."
Aurora narrowed her eyes.
She muttered to herself, "Julia still hasn’t learned a lesson."
Her voice was barely audible, but Ava caught it.
Julia’s cries turned to pleading. "Please! Whoever’s responsible, stop the video!"
Julia didn’t seem to know if anyone was listening, but in her drunken state, she was desperate, clinging to hope.
Ava, watching the scene unfold, looked at Julia with pity.
Even Aurora felt a flash of something, a soft emotion stirring in her chest.
Julia was drenched and miserable, her sobs blending with the sound of the heavy rain.
But Aurora, after a brief moment, turned away from the window, her loose hair cascading down her back in an effortless, relaxed style.
"Ava," Aurora said firmly, "tell the security man to leave her be."
Ava blinked, surprised by her boss’s decision. "Ma’am?" she hesitated.
Aurora’s voice remained calm, though her gaze stayed fixed away from the window. "Once she’s had enough of the rain, she’ll leave on her own. Let her carry on with her act."
Ava opened her mouth, wanting to protest—Julia was clearly drunk, after all—but she swallowed her words.
She gave a respectful nod.
"Yes, ma’am," she said quietly before turning to leave the room.
Once Ava was gone, Aurora glanced back through the window.
Julia was still out there, sobbing pitifully.
A faint twinge of pity flickered in Aurora’s chest again, but she quickly pushed it aside.
"She’s pretending," Aurora whispered to herself.
After a moment, Aurora picked up her phone.
Her fingers tapped the screen, and soon she was dialing the number of the man she had contacted before—the leader of the rugged men.
The call connected after a few rings.
"Mrs. Aurora," the man’s voice came through, steady and confident.
"Stop the video," Aurora said without hesitation.
The man paused. "But ma’am, this... this is nothing compared to what you wanted her to feel."
Aurora let out a slow breath. "I know. But it’s enough. Take it down. Now."
"As you wish, Mrs. Aurora," the man replied, sounding slightly surprised.
Aurora ended the call, letting her phone fall softly onto the bed.
She stared out of the window again, her mind wandering.
She didn’t even notice when Julia had left or when someone else quietly entered her room—until she felt it.
Warm hands gently wrapped around her waist, followed by a soft kiss pressed against her neck.
Aurora gasped, caught off guard by the gesture.
She quickly turned and saw Lucas standing behind her.
He looked as handsome as ever, even though his tailored suit was slightly rumpled from what must have been a long day at the office.
His white shirt remained sharp despite his loosened tie, a hint of relaxation in his appearance.
His perfectly styled hair was slightly tousled, and his warm smile lit up his features.
"You startled me," Aurora said, her heartbeat slowly settling.
Lucas chuckled, his eyes sparkling with affection. "I wanted to surprise you," he admitted, his voice soft. "Sorry for coming without calling first."
Aurora shook her head, trying to lighten her tone. "You didn’t scare me."
But Lucas’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you sure?" he asked. "You seem... off."
Aurora was about to brush it off again, but Lucas gently tilted her chin upward, his eyes searching hers.
He paused, his expression shifting when he noticed the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Aurora..." Lucas’s voice was filled with concern as she leaned into him, resting her head against his chest.
He stiffened slightly, startled by her sudden vulnerability.
Aurora’s emotions spilled over, and she started to cry quietly into his chest.
Lucas, clearly taken aback, stepped back just enough to look at her face.
"What’s wrong?" he asked urgently. "Did someone hurt you? Tell me who it is, and I’ll make them pay."
Aurora shook her head, wiping her tears with trembling fingers. "No, it’s not that," she whispered. "It’s about... our pups."
Lucas’s brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Aurora let out a shaky breath, turning her face away. "I don’t think I can continue anymore."
Lucas was stunned. "What?" he said softly, disbelief in his voice.
She looked down, her hands trembling slightly. "I know it’s disappointing, but... I don’t think I can do this."
For a moment, Lucas was speechless.
He could still see the worry and fear in her eyes.
Without a word, he gently led her to the bed, helping her sit down carefully before pulling up a chair to sit across from her.
He took her hand in his.
"Alright," Lucas said softly, his voice soothing. "I’m listening. What’s going on?"
Aurora bit her lip, her gaze falling to the floor. "I don’t want the pups anymore."
Her words hung in the air, the quiet rain outside the only sound filling the room.
