Chapter 71: Good Terms
Back at the doorway of room 203, Lucas noticed Julia’s clenched fists as she stared at Aurora’s retreating figure.
His gaze shifted from Aurora to Julia. "You and Aurora don’t seem to be on good terms," he commented, breaking the silence.
Julia turned to face him, her expression darkening.
"How could we be on good terms?" she snapped. "Have you already forgotten everything she did to me— to us? Aurora is the reason I had to leave this city in the first place. The torment she put me through, the schemes... She destroyed our happy relationship, Lucas!"
She took a step closer to him, her voice turning sharp. "She’s nothing but a gold digger, a manipulative pest. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten her devious plan to get a share of your wealth."
As Julia moved even closer, Lucas instinctively raised his hand, blocking her approach. His outstretched arm stopped her in her tracks.
The gesture shocked Julia, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"You really believe that, Julia?" Lucas’s voice was calm but firm. He looked directly at her, his gaze unwavering. "Actually, now that I think about it, I believe your so-called evidence was false."
Julia’s jaw dropped, too stunned to respond immediately. "What?" she stammered.
"You heard me," Lucas said, his tone confident.
Julia’s face paled as she tried to recover. "Why would you say that? I would never lie to you!"
"Well," Lucas continued, "many things suggest that the evidence you gave me was fake. You claimed Aurora faked a pregnancy to get my wealth, but in reality, she’s the daughter of a wealthy Alpha King. She has six brothers, all of whom are wealthier than most could dream. Why would she need my money, which is a fraction of what her family owns?"
Julia stood speechless, unable to defend herself. She knew the truth—deep down, she had fabricated everything. She hadn’t left the city because of Aurora’s supposed torment but for her own selfish reasons.
Lucas took a step back from her, his expression now one of disappointment. "I doubt your words now, Julia," he said, shaking his head. "You no longer seem like the honest person I thought you were."
With that, he turned and began to walk away.
Panic surged through Julia as she watched him go.
"No," she thought. "He can’t be serious."
She ran after him, catching up and grabbing his hand to stop him. "Lucas, wait! You can’t just believe Aurora because you found out about her family. She’s manipulating you. She must be twisting everything to make you doubt me."
Lucas stopped, turning slowly to face her.
With a sharp motion, he pulled his hand away from hers. "Aurora hasn’t said anything to me about the past. Not a word about you." His voice was filled with quiet anger now. "She hasn’t tried to manipulate me. All she’s done is remind me of how much she sacrificed for our love—how much she gave up for us. Do you even know that she was disowned by her family because of me?"
Julia gasped, her mind racing. She didn’t have any knowledge about Aurora being disowned.
Lucas’s eyes flashed with emotion. "If Aurora didn’t love me, she wouldn’t have left her family, her wealth, her status, for me. I just found out yesterday that she was disowned by the Grey family for our marriage, and the weight of that hit me like nothing else." His voice softened briefly. "I couldn’t even sip the drink I ordered when I heard that."
Julia clenched her fists, seething inwardly, but she remained silent, listening as Lucas continued.
"Just knowing what she sacrificed for us," he said, "makes me realize how much she truly loved me. How much she must have hurt when she found out I was in love with someone else— you."
Julia opened her mouth to speak, but Lucas cut her off. "But none of that matters anymore," he said, his tone final. "I don’t want to think about the past. Whether Aurora did wrong by you or not, I’m focused on how I’m going to reclaim her. I don’t have room in my mind for the past. So, push it aside, Julia. Move on."
Julia stood frozen, his words striking deeper than she expected.

After Aurora finished her work, she instructed Derek to handle a few tasks for her.
Now, seated in her mansion’s elegant living room, she crossed her legs and sipped her tea, her expression calm and composed.
Before her, several blindfolded men knelt, their bodies battered and bruised.
Their faces were swollen and red from obvious beatings.
The sound of their cries filled the room, desperate pleas for mercy spilling from their lips.
"Please... spare us," one of the men sobbed. "Please—please!"
"We’re sorry! We’ll do anything, just don’t hurt us anymore!"
Aurora listened to their pathetic groveling without a flicker of emotion.
Their cries were nothing new to her.
With a slight wave of her hand, she addressed Derek. "Remove their blindfolds."
Derek, standing by her side, gave a sharp nod.
He moved swiftly, pulling off the blindfolds one by one.
As their eyes adjusted to the light, the men squinted, still kneeling as their hands were tied behind their backs.
Aurora’s gaze lingered on one particular man, her lips curling into a cold, knowing smirk.
"Ah, so it’s him."
The same rugged-looking man who had once dragged her to that room, following Julia’s orders.
His face was unmistakable, though now bruised and pale with fear.
She set down her teacup with a soft clink, uncrossing her legs and standing up.
Slowly, she approached the group of men, her arms folding across her chest as she stopped directly in front of the rugged man.
"Well, well," she began, her voice low but laced with menace. "The world is a small place, isn’t it? Look who we have here."
She leaned down slightly, her eyes locking with his. "We meet again."
The man’s body trembled visibly under her gaze. His mouth opened, but the words stuck in his throat.
He knew exactly who she was—Julia had sent them to work against her, and now, here he was, completely at her mercy.
"Why... why are you doing this to us?" he finally stammered, his voice shaking. "You—"
He glanced fearfully at Derek before continuing, "You ordered him to beat us up, to torture us, but it’s that bitch who should be punished, not us!"
Aurora’s expression didn’t change, but she gave a small nod, understanding immediately who he was referring to.
"Ah, Julia," she said softly, her voice almost amused. "That’s precisely why you’re here."
She took a step closer, her presence looming over him. "Because you’re going to make her feel exactly what you just felt."
