Chapter 47: Lose Her Forever

The doctor’s words landed like a final blow.

Afterwards, the doctor turned and left them in an uncomfortable silence.

Sophia glanced at Lucas, her voice steady despite the weight of the situation. "Lucas, this is your chance. You need to mark her. If you don’t, you’ll lose her forever."

Hades’s head snapped up, fury rising in his chest. "No," he barked, his voice sharp with resistance.

Sophia didn’t flinch. "Hades, if Lucas doesn’t do this, Aurora will die. You know that. We all do."

The anguish on Hades’s face was clear, but the truth of Sophia’s words left him powerless.

His fists clenched in frustration, every fibre of his wanting to scream in protest.

But after a tense pause, he gave a slow, painful nod, agreeing with more heartbreak than words could express.

When they finally began preparing to move Aurora, Lucas approached her motionless form.

Her face was pale, almost ghostly, and the sight of her made his heart ache.

He knew she wanted a divorce, that she no longer wanted to be bound to him, but this was about saving her life.

The bond would last forever against her will, but what choice did he have?

With a heavy heart, Lucas leaned in close to her, his voice barely a whisper. "I’m so sorry, Aurora."

He saw his fangs elongate, and, steeling himself, he sank them into the delicate skin of her neck.

As he bit into her, he felt the surge of energy as the bond between them solidified.

The bond’s connection coursed through him, wrapping him in an overwhelming sense of her presence. But there was no joy in the moment—only the need to keep her alive.

Hades stood off to the side, watching the scene unfold with clenched fists, his rage barely contained.

His body tensed, and for a moment, he considered punching the wall to vent his frustration.

But all he could do was stand there, helpless, as Lucas bonded with the woman he loved.

As soon as Lucas finished marking her, Aurora was quickly moved to the ambulance.

Lucas, with one last glance at Hades and Sophia, climbed into the vehicle beside her, staying by her side as the paramedics worked.

His heart raced as he held her hand, watching her pale form, praying for any sign that she was improving.

The ambulance sped off, and just then, Lucas noticed something strange—Aurora’s pale body began to regain its colour.

Slowly but surely, her skin took on a healthy glow once again.

His breath caught in his throat, and tears of relief welled up in his eyes.

He smiled through the tears, overwhelmed with emotion and grateful beyond words.

Behind them, Hades and Sophia followed in Hades’s car.

The silence between them was thick with worry and concern.

Hades was gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles had turned white, his eyes darting anxiously toward the ambulance ahead.

Sophia noticed his agitation and smiled softly. "She’ll be fine, Hades," she said calmly, her voice soothing. "Lucas marked her. The bond will heal her."

Hades glanced at her briefly, his expression hard and filled with mute anger.

"If Aurora doesn’t heal after what you and Lucas pulled," Hades growled, his voice low and dangerous, "I’ll make sure you both end up in jail."

Sophia scoffed, her eyes rolling. "Jail? Please. Do you really think you can threaten me like that after everything? I’m trying to save her, not kill her."

Hades shot her a venomous look but said nothing.

With heavy silence, they followed the ambulance.

By the time they arrived at LK Hospital, Aurora was immediately taken inside.

The doctors worked swiftly, and within no time, she was transferred to a private ward.

Hades and Sophia paced anxiously in the waiting area, the situation pressing on them both.

Moments later, one of the doctors appeared with a look of astonishment on his face. "Her injuries... have miraculously healed," he said, disbelief still etched in his face. "We’ve never seen anything like it."

Sophia’s face lit up with relief.

"I told you it would work," she whispered to Hades as her eyes were brimmed with joy.

Lucas, who had been standing nearby, rushed toward the doctor. "Can I see her?"

The doctor nodded, a faint smile on his face. "Sure, but keep it brief. She’s still unconscious."

Lucas didn’t waste a second, moving toward Aurora’s room with urgency and hope.

Hades and Sophia moved forward, intending to follow Lucas, but the doctor stopped them at the door.

"Only one visitor at a time," the doctor said firmly, barring their entry.

Hades clenched his jaw, stepping back reluctantly, while Sophia exchanged a brief glance with him.

Inside, Lucas gently approached Aurora’s bedside, his heart hammering in his chest as he gazed at her peaceful face.

Despite everything, she looked as if she were simply sleeping, her colour returning, her breathing steady.

He took her hand in his, feeling the bond between them pulse faintly.

"I’m sorry," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion.

Gulit gnawed at him as he held her hand.

He blamed himself for her condition, feeling the weight of responsibility for not being able to prevent the accident.

If only he had been there earlier or done something differently, she wouldn’t be lying here like this—unconscious, fragile.

His mind spiralled with remorse, and he failed to notice something - the subtle movement in Aurora’s eyelids.

Her eyes flickered open, just barely, as if she was struggling to regain consciousness.

At that exact moment, Lucas’s phone rang, its sharp sound cutting through the quiet of the ward.

Not wanting to disturb the silence, Lucas quickly pulled the phone from his pocket and, with a sigh, glanced at the caller ID.

"Julia?"

His brows furrowed, but he stood up, moving to the far side of the room to answer.

He didn’t want the ringtone to disturb Aurora’s rest, so he turned his back to her bed, stepping away.

He answered quietly, trying to maintain the calmness of the ward.

"Hello?" Lucas whispered, his voice low, not wanting to disrupt the room further.

On the other end, he heard the sound of sobbing.

"Lucas!" Julia’s voice cracked with despair, her cries loud and exaggerated.

Lucas frowned. "What’s wrong, Julia?"

Before Julia could respond, her assistant’s voice interrupted the line. "Mr. Lucas, you need to come quickly! Julia’s been crying non-stop because she didn’t win the award she worked so hard for. She’s threatening to jump from the building!"

Lucas’s eyes narrowed in frustration.

He knew Julia’s emotional outbursts well, but this... something felt off.

The timing, the urgency—it didn’t sit right with him.

Still, he kept his voice calm, though his patience was wearing thin. "She’s threatening to jump... over an award?"

At the other end of the call, the truth was more sinister.

Julia, seeing the viral news about Aurora’s accident, had devised a plan.

She knew Lucas was the kind of man who couldn’t resist helping a friend in need. And if he rushed to her, it would pull him away from Aurora, ensuring he’d spend more time with her instead.

She had staged the entire scene with her assistant, hoping to manipulate him into leaving the hospital.

But Lucas, lost in his own frustrations and concern for Aurora, didn’t fall for it this time.

The weight of the situation in the hospital had shifted his priorities, and Julia’s melodrama was the last thing he had the energy for.

"Let her do it then," Lucas replied flatly, his voice devoid of the usual concern.

The line went silent, and Julia, on the other end, was stunned.

This wasn’t the reaction she had expected from him.

Lucas, who was always so caring and responsive, had dismissed her crisis without a second thought.

It was a slap to her face, and she didn’t know how to respond.

Meanwhile, back in the hospital room, Aurora, though weak, had heard his words.

A small, satisfied smile curved her lips as her eyes closed again.
