Disguised As A Boy To Attend Belmont High School -
Chapter 87: Awakening..
Chapter 87: Awakening..
In a white-painted room with fluorescent lighting, beige walls, and linoleum floors, the air was heavy with the smell of disinfectant and the soft beeping of machines. A young boy with blonde hair, dressed in a blue gown, lay motionless on the bed with an oxygen tube in his nose to assist with breathing.
"I caused this. We should have all waited outside," Olive lamented, tears streaming down her face as she sat by Lucas’s bedside. "You have to wake up, Lucas. It’s been over a week. Don’t you want to know what happened to Mr. Philip? Don’t you want to see justice served for that criminal?"
"We’re all to blame for Lucas’s condition, not just you," Mark added, his face filled with sorrow as he comforted Olive with a hand on her shoulder.
"Your mom, dad, and Clara just left, buddy. Everyone is worried to see you lying on that bed with your eyes closed. They all want to see you smile again and walk out of this hospital with your two legs, Lucas." Aiden said, tears streaming down his face. "I miss you, man."
"Come on, guys. We should be comforting Lucas’s parents instead of crying. Let’s go out and not disturb Lucas with our tears." Mark said with a heavy sigh.
"I’ll stay with him. We can’t all just leave him here." Olive said, holding Lucas’s hand and gazing at his face.
"Okay, we’ll be right back. We need to get some clothes and food at the hostel." Henry replied before leaving the ward with Mark and Aiden.
Olive rested her head on the bed, weeping. "I miss you, Lucas. I miss you so much, even though you’re the most annoying person I’ve ever met. I don’t know what I’ll do if anything happens to you. I’ve felt miserable all week. I want you to look at me, argue with me, and smile at me like you used to. Please wake up now. Wake up and talk to me."
Lucas slowly opened his eyes, groggily taking in his surroundings. A faint memory of the shootout and his rescue lingered in his mind.
"You’re so loud!" a faint voice pierced into Olive’s ear, causing her to immediately raise her head. Her worried face came into view, her eyes red from crying. "You’re awake!"
Lucas tried to speak, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible. He cleared his throat, wincing in pain. "Water..."
Olive quickly handed him a glass of water. Lucas sipped it gratefully, feeling a bit more alert.
Lucas’s gaze shifted to the machines surrounding him. "How serious was it?"
Olive paused before responding. "The bullet was just an inch away from your heart, Lucas. If it had been any closer, we could have lost you."
Lucas’s eyes widened as he recalled the moment the bullet struck him. He shuddered at the realization of how close he had come to death.
"What about Mark, Aiden, and Henry?"
"They went to school to grab some clothes and food. We’ve been by your side in the hospital for the past week," Olive replied eagerly. "They’ll be thrilled to see you awake."
"Wait! Did you say one week?" Lucas asked, seeking confirmation from Olive, who nodded in response. "I’ve been in this bed for a whole week."
"Yes, your mom, dad, and sister just left a couple of hours ago." Olive replied, causing Lucas to let out a heavy sigh.
"You mentioned earlier that you miss me." Lucas inquired, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at Olive, who appeared to be nervous. "Did I hear that right, or am I mistaken?"
" Yes, everyone misses you." Olive responded bluntly.
"I meant you specifically. You said you miss me and don’t know what you would do if I didn’t wake up. You mentioned feeling miserable because I haven’t opened my eyes to see you. You said you miss everything about me." Lucas pressed on, locking eyes with Olive.
Olive nervously swallowed, bot willing to answer Lucas question, she said. "Do you have nine lives though? How could you take a bullet for someone? You could have been killed." She asked, her voice tinged with anger.
"You’re changing the subject again. Is this your way of saying thank you though?" Lucas asked, raising his eyebrows in curiosity at Olive, who seemed to be throwing a tantrum.
"Thank you!" Olive replied sincerely.
"Do you, Mark, and Aiden have nine lives each? How could you all follow the police officers in?" Lucas scolded with a frustrated sigh.
"We admit we were foolish. It was a very bad idea that we regret, but I’m glad you’re awake now." Olive replied with a smile.
" Where’s Mr. Philip, though?" Lucas inquired, raising his eyebrows in curiosity. "Where’s that monster." He added with anger etched in his voice.
"He’s behind bars. Samson has also been arrested and put behind bars. They’re both going to face the consequences of their actions, and we’re supposed to be punished ourselves for the corpse we burnt but we’ve been pardoned. The family of the deceased was upset at first but later pardoned us, as Mr. Philip had wronged the boy’s family before." Olive explained excitedly.
"What do you mean?" Lucas asked, his curiosity piqued.
"Mr. Philip was found to be the one who killed that boy in a fire accident. The boy’s parents mentioned that their son had insulted Mr. Philip at a supermarket before where the boy works as a salesrep, so Mr. Philip sent some guys to burn down the boy’s apartment," Olive explained, anger evident on her face. "That man is a monster. He took the life of the only child of those elderly couples."
"The parents thanked us for bringing Mr. Philip to justice. They were unable to do so themselves due to their financial situation, so they are grateful that we were able to help. As a result, we are free from punishment," Olive concluded, a satisfied smile appearing on Lucas’s face.
"A lot has happened while I was asleep, but I’m grateful that everything went according to plan. I’m relieved that I finally got justice for my sister. Now, I can live peacefully," Lucas declared with a smile.
A doctor entered the room with a dejected expression, but his face lit up when he saw Lucas sitting up. "You’re awake. Thank goodness. We’ve done everything we can to ensure your recovery."
Lucas nodded, still processing everything.
The doctor added, "You’ll need to stay here for a few days for observation and rest, but I’m confident you’ll make a full recovery."
Lucas let out a sigh of relief, feeling thankful to be alive.
As the doctor finished speaking, Mark, Aiden, and Henry returned with bags of food and clothes, their faces lighting up with smiles when they saw Lucas sitting up.
"Lucas, you’re awake!" Mark exclaimed, rushing over to his side.
"We were so worried about you," Aiden added, his eyes shining with tears.
Henry moved closer, with tears rolling down his cheeks. "I was right when I suggested we buy your favorite food even though we didn’t know you were awake yet, Lucas. We just wanted to buy your food, and I’m glad we did."
"I feel so bad seeing you on that bed for these past few days. I only wanted you to wake up. You were the one that saved my life when Mr. Philip’s men kidnapped me. And I just wanted you to be safe too," Henry continued with tears rolling down his cheeks. "I’m so glad you’re awake, man."
"It’s okay, Henry. I’m glad we were able to defeat Mr. Philip. Now he cannot harm anyone again," Lucas chimed in as he pulled Henry closer by his arm and hugged him. "You’re my friend now. A friend I don’t want to lose," he added, prompting a smile to appear on Henry’s face. Mark and Aiden joined in the hug.
"Ar..ar..," Lucas quickly voiced out in pain the moment Mark pressed on his chest wound. "Don’t send me to the grave, man!" he added jokingly.
"I’m sorry!" Mark replied while the others burst into laughter.
Olive smiled, happy to see her friends reunited. "I’ll go get the nurse to help Lucas eat. He’s still weak."
As Olive left the room, Lucas looked at his friends, feeling grateful for their support. "Thanks, guys. I owe you one."
Mark waved his hand dismissively. "No need to thank us, Lucas. We’re just glad you’re alive."
Aiden nodded in agreement. "We were so scared when we saw you get shot. We thought we’d lost you."
Henry shook his head, smiling. "You’re too stubborn to give up, Lucas."
Lucas chuckled weakly, feeling a sense of camaraderie with his friends. "I suppose I am."
Olive brought the nurse, and they assisted Lucas with eating and drinking, keeping a close eye on his progress.

In a white-painted living room filled with luxurious golden furniture, elegant sofas, and tables, there was a fireplace. A woman with short black hair, striking green eyes, and pink lips, wearing a floral dress, held a glass of wine as she stood by the window, talking on the phone.
"I’ve looked into the background of the kid you wanted me to check," a voice on the other end of the line said.
"And what did you discover?" the woman’s deep voice inquired.
"His name is Arthur Williams. He’s a scholarship student at Belmont. His parents are quite poor, more like middle class, to be honest, madam," the voice replied.
"So, my son took a bullet for a scholarship student," the woman remarked with a hashtag.
