Disguised As A Boy To Attend Belmont High School
Chapter 86: Chaos And Gunfire.

Chapter 86: Chaos And Gunfire.

Lucas sat in the dimly lit room, his back against the chair, legs stretched out before him. His eyes were fixed on the floor, gaze unfocused. His hand, wrapped in a makeshift bandage, lay limp on his lap, a crimson stain spreading from beneath the cloth. The gunshot wound throbbed with a dull ache, but he barely noticed. His mind was consumed by thoughts of escape, survival, and clearing his name.

His blonde hair was disheveled, eyes usually bright and determined now sunken and defeated. His pale skin glistened with sweat, lips parched and dry. The room was silent, only the faint sound of his ragged breathing breaking the stillness.

"We never intended to harm you, but you took so long to comply. Now look at what you’ve done to yourself," one of the burly men remarked with a smirk.

"Are you certain you told the truth about the phone? Because if not, I dread to think what might happen to you next," another burly man added, holding his gun towards Lucas’s head.

Footsteps soon echoed through the room, and Mr. Philip appeared, his expression stern as he delivered a heavy punch to Lucas’s face, causing his nose and lip to bleed.

Lucas felt like he saw stars when Mr. Philip’s punch landed on his face. Everything went dark for a few moments, and he felt as if he had gone blind until he could see Mr. Philip’s angry gaze again.

"Do you really believe I have time for your nonsense? How dare you try to deceive me?" Mr. Philip shouted as he snatched a gun from one of the burly men. "You think I won’t hesitate to end you. Listen carefully, I once took the life of your sister, and if you’re not careful, you’ll join her. Not only that, I will tarnish your name and destroy the George family legacy."

Mr. Philip then delivered another powerful blow to Lucas’s face. Lucas felt his head spinning from the impact, his vision blurred. The taste of blood filled his mouth, and his throbbing nose added to the pain. He attempted to speak, but his voice came out weak and shaky.

"I...I spoke the truth," he managed to say, his gaze fixed on the gun in Mr. Philip’s hand.

Mr. Philip’s face contorted with anger. "You really think I’ll believe that? You believe you’re clever, but you’re just a naive boy trying to outwit me."

Lucas attempted to shake his head, but the movement caused his vision to spin once more. A wave of nausea swept over him.

"I have no idea what you’re talking about," he murmured, trying to buy some time.

Mr. Philip’s laughter was chilling and threatening. "Don’t act ignorant, Lucas. Now, tell me where that phone is before I shoot you in the leg. And if you continue to lie, I’ll shoot you in the head, and your family won’t even get to see your body, let alone give you a proper burial."

Meanwhile, the moment Olive, Aiden, and Mark exited the George mansion they had followed Mr. Philip to Lucas’s location. They waited outside, anticipating the arrival of the police officers they had called before making a move.

"We should go in now," Mark whispered. "Those cops are taking too long. We need to save our friend before that monster does something drastic."

"Not yet," Olive responded, scanning the area. "We have to wait for the police. We can’t confront Mr. Philip and his men alone."

Aiden agreed, "Mark’s right. We need backup."

Just then, they spotted the police cars in the distance. The police had arrived fully armed as they stepped out of the police car.

"You’ll have to wait outside here. We’ll save your friend," one of the police officers said with a serious tone that didn’t sit well with Olive, Mark, and Aiden.

"We want to save our friend too," Olive interjected.

"No! It’s dangerous. You’ll stay here while we go in," the police officer insisted as they pushed the door open.

"Let’s go," Olive whispered after the police officers had entered, with Mark and Aiden nodding in agreement. They silently pushed the door open and crept inside, their eyes adjusting to the dim light. Lucas’s voice was faint, but they could hear Mr. Philip’s menacing tone.

"Don’t play dumb, Lucas. Now tell me where that damn phone is before I shoot you in the leg."

Olive’s eyes widened in horror. They had to act quickly.

The police officers burst into the room, their guns drawn. "Freeze!" one of them shouted.

Mr. Philip’s head turned towards the door, his gun still aimed at Lucas. For a moment, everyone stood still.

Then, chaos erupted.

Mr. Philip’s men brandished their guns, prompting the police officers to retaliate with gunfire. Olive, Aiden, and Mark sought refuge, their hearts pounding with fear.

Seizing the opportunity, Olive inched closer to Lucas, tears streaming down her face as she worked to untie the rope binding him.

"It’s too risky. You should have let the police handle it," Lucas managed to gasp, struggling to catch his breath.

"We need to leave now" Olive uttered, gripping Lucas’s arm.

Before they could escape, Mr. Philip made a sudden move, aiming his gun at them.

In an instant, darkness enveloped them.

Olive’s scream pierced the air as Mr. Philip fired his weapon, but Lucas shielded her just in time, taking the bullet in the back and spitting out a mouthful of blood before collapsing.

"Take cover!" a police officer shouted, returning fire.

Mr. Philip ducked behind a nearby crate, his gun still blazing, while Mark and Aiden huddled together.

"Lucas!" Olive cried as she held Lucas in her arms. "Please stay with me, Lucas. Don’t close your eyes, please."

"You three are so foolish," Lucas managed to say, his voice low. Olive had to lean in close to hear him. "How can you come here when you know how dangerous it is?"

"Save your breath and stop saying nonsense. Just stay with me. And you’re the fool. How can you take a bullet for someone?" Olive scolded, tears still rolling down her cheeks.

The police officers soon succeeded in arresting Mr. Philip and his men, handcuffing them.

"We have to get out of here" Mark said as the tension in the air dissipated.

Olive nodded and assisted Lucas up with Mark, dragging him out of the room. Lucas’s heart raced as they stumbled out into the bright sunlight. They didn’t stop walking until they reached the safety of the police cars.

"It’s over," Lucas whispered, his eyes fixed on Mr. Philip’s furious face as he was taken into the police van.

"I told you to wait outside but yet you disobeyed the orders" one of the police officers yelled in anger.

"Let’s get Lucas to the hospital now," one of the police officers said, a constract to the other police officer.

And just then, Lucas’s eyes began to close, and soon everything darkened.

"Lucas!"
