Chapter 62: Secrets In The Shadows
Lucas sighed, realizing he had to confess. "Alright, I admit it. I took the trophy. But my intentions were not what you assume."
Officer Blackwood looked intrigued. "What do you mean by that?"
Lucas paused before elaborating. "I was upset. I went to the trophy room where all the trophies were stored before being distributed to the winning schools. I took the one that belonged to Desmond and Henry and tossed it into the pool. I didn’t intend to harm anyone. I just wanted to dispose of it."
Officer Johnson’s gaze narrowed. "So, you’re claiming you didn’t use the trophy to strike Desmond?"
Lucas shook his head. "No, I promise. I simply tossed it away. Desmond being there didn’t even cross my mind."
The officers shared a doubtful glance, but Lucas persisted. "You have to trust me. I was just overwhelmed with anger and frustration. I never intended for any harm to come to anyone."
"Desmond had a head injury that indicates he was struck with the trophy. Just tell the truth, Lucas." Officer Blackwood maintained a stern expression.
"I swear I didn’t hit him on the head. I didn’t even meet Desmond as the pool where I threw the trophy. I just disposed of it and left immediately." Lucas insisted.
"Lucas, all the evidence points to you. Even if you claim innocence, you’re a key suspect. But we will uncover the truth in this case." Officer Blackwood stated with a heavy heart.
"Heard you’re part of the 3RM who are known for bullin scholarship students. Did one of your member commit this crime, although I know your group does things together but you might want to act alone sometimes.Did only you and Mark attend the competition while the rest stayed back?" Officer Blackwood questioned.
"Now that you mention this, I remember Aiden and the Philip twins were supposed to join Mark and me at the Arena." Lucas revealed with a serious expression.
"I saw Aiden and the Philip twins on my way to the trophy room. I informed them that Mark was outside, but Aiden wanted to follow me, so he did, while the Philip twins went to look for Mark. Aiden can confirm that I only threw the trophy into the swimming pool, and we didn’t encounter Desmond." He added.
"Aiden and the Philip twins are not in the classroom when we arrived Belmont, isn’t it?" Officer Blackwood asked.
"No, they are most likely in the 3RM special room. I returned to school with them, leaving Mark behind. Aiden and the Philip twins mentioned they were going to relax at the 3RM, while I chose to wait for Mark in the classroom." Lucas said, with seriousness laced in his tone.
Officer Blackwood nodded. "We will need to speak with Aiden and the Philip twins to verify your account. If they confirm that you only threw the trophy into the pool and did not harm Desmond, it could support your case."
Lucas nodded eagerly. "Please talk to them. They will tell you the truth. I didn’t do anything to Desmond, I swear."
Officer Johnson interjected, "Thank you for your cooperation, Lucas. We will call you again if we have further questions."

In the 3RM room, Thomas and Aiden were seated on the sofa, watching as Samson paced back and forth.
"Can you please stop? You’re making me dizzy," Aiden spoke up, breaking the silence in the room.
"What did you see downstairs? You’ve been acting strange ever since you went down there to check up on Lucas. Is there a problem?" Thomas asked, his hands resting on his chin.
"The police officers are here," Samson finally admitted, his voice filled with nervousness.
"Police officers? Why are they here? Did something happen?" Aiden questioned, getting up from the sofa, but Samson stopped him from leaving.
"Please don’t open the door," Samson pleaded, blocking Aiden’s path with fear in his eyes.
"What do you mean? If the police are here, we should go downstairs and find out what’s going on," Aiden insisted, looking confused at Samson’s behavior.
Thomas then rose from the sofa and approached Samson, embracing him as Samson began to cry on his shoulder.
"What’s going on? Can you just tell us?" Aiden demanded, his voice filled with anger as he observed the emotional scene between Samson and Thomas.
After a few moments, Thomas released Samson from the hug and looked into his eyes. "What happened?" he asked.
Samson hesitated, aware of the curious looks from Aiden and Thomas. " The police officers are here because Desmond is dead," he revealed, shocking both Aiden and Thomas.
"He finally kicked the bucket? Did he off himself?" Aiden inquired with a smirk.
"No, he was murdered," Samson disclosed, tears streaming down his face.
"Enough with the tears. I thought you despised him. Why cry for him now?" Aiden questioned, visibly annoyed as he sat down on the sofa, leaving Thomas and Samson by the door.
"Murdered? By whom though?" Aiden muttered to himself, puzzled.
Meanwhile, Thomas comforted Samson, urging him to reveal the true reason for his tears. "Tell me the truth. I know you are not crying because Desmond is dead? Did you do something foolish?"
"I pushed Desmond into the pool when you said you were going to find Aiden and Lucas. I followed shortly after and encountered him. I pushed him out of anger," Samson confessed quietly.
"You pushed him, but you didn’t kill him," Thomas reassured him.
"I did. The water turned red when I pushed him in. He must have hit his head on something, causing his death," Samson sobbed.
"Enough. You only pushed him. No one can know about this," Thomas warned, his tone serious as Samson nodded in agreement.
"You didn’t harm him intentionally. It’s not your fault he couldn’t swim. Stop crying," Thomas insisted, prompting Samson to wipe his tears.
Knock knock knock.
"This is the police. Open the door," Officer Blackwood announced, sending a wave of fear through Samson, Thomas, and Aiden.
