Chapter 164: You’re Under Arrest.
Chapter 164: You’re Under Arrest.
She glanced around the room, her eyes blazing with determination. "We’re getting closer to the truth. They won’t be able to hide for long."
The group’s energy was palpable as they huddled around the laptop, studying the scanned image of the handwritten note with intense concentration.
"This handwriting is distinctive," Lara murmured, zooming in on the screen and squinting. "I think I’ve seen it somewhere before, but I can’t quite remember where."
"Same here. It’s on the tip of my mind, but maybe we’re just imagining things." Aiden chimed in, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he leaned closer.
"So, how do we figure out who the culprit is?" Olive asked, her face twisting in a puzzled expression as she tilted her head.
"We have an advantage," Lucas said confidently, straightening up. "My sister Clara works in the principal, and she has access to the student records. Each student’s file includes handwriting samples. She only need to talk to teachers who would help to cross-reference this with the handwriting of the students."
"Woah! That’s a great idea. Why didn’t I think of that?" Aiden exclaimed, a wide smile spreading across his face.
The others nodded in agreement, excitement growing as Lucas idea.
"We’re going to uncover the truth soon then," Olive chimed in with a grin, her eyes glinting with anticipation. "I can’t wait to see whose handwriting this matches."
"Me too!" Lara added with a satisfied smile. "But for now, we should get back to studying. Exams are right around the corner, and they’re going to decide where we end up for college."
"That’s true," Aiden sighed heavily. "Even though Belmont has a college owned by the George family and the school heir being our friend, it’s still competitive to get in. Lucas might be the heir to the school, but even he wouldn’t get admitted if he doesn’t pass."
"Really?" Olive and Lara exclaimed in unison, their eyes widening with curiosity.
"Yes," Mark said, nodding earnestly. "The school values intelligence as much as wealth. No matter how rich a student’s parents are, if they don’t meet the academic standards, there’s no chance they’ll get in."
Olive and Lara sighed simultaneously, realizing the pressure they were all under.
"Anyway," Aiden said, brightening up a bit, "we should definitely celebrate after the exams. We’re graduating, after all! Besides prom, we should have a small party. Maybe we could even visit the 3RM house one last time. We all know it’s special to us, and it’d be good to go there before college."
"That’s a great idea," Mark agreed, nodding thoughtfully. "I’ve been thinking about it too."
"Let’s keep our focus on solving Louise’s case for now," Lucas reminded them, his tone serious as he tapped a button on the laptop. "I just sent the handwriting sample to my sister. She’ll start working on it today, and we should get feedback either today or tomorrow morning."
"Perfect!" the group chorused together, their voices filled with optimism. They settled back on the floor in a loose circle, opening their textbooks to begin studying in earnest, though their minds continued to linger on the mystery surrounding Louise’s death.
The minutes ticked by, and over an hour passed as they reviewed notes and quizzed each other, a quiet determination in the air.
Suddenly, a familiar chime broke the silence.
Lucas pulled his phone from his pocket, and the others turned their heads, watching him curiously. He glanced down at the screen, then looked up with a wide smile. "The handwriting’s been identified," he announced.

Meanwhile, in the classroom, Anabella and Peace sat at their desks, textbooks open before them, the silence between them thick and tense.
"My father was talking to Rachel’s dad on the phone," Anabella said finally, breaking the silence. "Apparently, Rachel is getting released from rehab soon. She might be back tomorrow."
"Really?" Peace replied, though her gaze remained fixed on her textbook. "That’s good, I suppose."
"Her father doesn’t really care whatever happens to her. He made it clear that he no longer have a daughter. " Anabella said, her face downcast. She then looked up at Peace, lowering her voice. "Do you think Henry knows anything about Louise’s death? Jessica keeps hinting that he does. He’s been acting so strange lately... drinking all the time. But I don’t want to believe he’d have anything to do with it. He and Louise were never enemies."
Peace looked up, frowning slightly. "If Henry isn’t involved, then someone else has to be. You said Jessica was the one spreading these rumors, right? What if she’s the one who killed him?"
Anabella’s eyes went wide. "That’s impossible! Jessica was only helping us to take Louise down a few notches... I mean, we all hated him, but we never wanted him dead!"
"Think about it," Peace continued, a smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Jessica wanted to bring him down and probably killed him when she couldn’t erase her own tracks of engaging in hard drugs. Now, she’s spreading rumors to keep attention off herself and want people to believe that Henry killed Louise."
Anabella’s face went pale as realization dawned. "That... that traitor! We never told her to kill anyone! I don’t want to believe this..i really need her to confess."
Jessica’s voice cut through their conversation like a knife, sending a chill down Anabella’s spine. "Confess to what, exactly?" she sneered, stepping into view with a smug look on her face.
Anabella spun around, her eyes blazing with anger. "You know what I’m talking about! Why did you kill my brother?"
The entire class fell silent, all eyes turning toward them.
Jessica laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. "Me? Kill your brother? Don’t be ridiculous! You asked me to help bring down your sex tapes with him, not murder him."
Anabella’s fists clenched. "You’re lying! You killed him, Jessica! Admit it!"
Jessica’s smirk faded, replaced by a cold glare. "You’re delusional. For the record, if anyone had a motive, it’d be you or Peace, not me. Louise didn’t have any dirt on me. But you both? You’re drowning in secrets. Thanks to your father’s influence, the police closed the case, but here you are, drawing even more attention to yourselves. How foolish can you be?"
"Oh yeah he did have dirt on you. Racheal isn’t the one who started drug distribution in this school. You did bitch! So did you kill my brother because he knows the truth and might actually report you to the police officers?" Anabella yelled, her body tensed up in anger.
The other students began whispering among themselves, their shocked murmurs rippling across the classroom.
"Shut up!" Jessica screamed, lunging at Anabella. They fell to the ground, kicking and clawing, each fueled by a mix of fear and anger.
Peace stood off to the side, watching the chaos unfold, a look of disbelief on her face. She turned to leave, only to freeze as two police officers entered the classroom, followed closely by Clara, Lucas, Olive, Lara, Mark, and Aiden, all of whom wore serious expressions.
The officers walked straight up to Peace. "You’re under arrest, kid," one of them announced, his voice carrying a weight of finality.
The classroom erupted into gasps and whispers as Peace was being handcuffed, Anabella and Jessica momentarily forgotten as they stared in shock.
