Chapter 127: Shadows Of The Past.

Louise sat down on the bench in the school garden, listening to a playlist on his phone, when suddenly, his earbuds were yanked out. Turning to look, he found Anabella standing before him, her face flushed with anger.

"Oh, sister! How are you doing?" Louise asked with a wide smile. "You look beautiful, as always. The beauty queen of Belmont High School. It’s been a while, you know..."

"Just shut up! Why did you come to Belmont? You said you’d never attend Belmont. You said you’d stay away from me!" Anabella snapped, her voice dripping with anger. "What are you doing here? What’s your plan?"

Louise held up his hands in a calming gesture. "Relax, sis. Keep it cool. Everyone’s staring," he cautioned, noticing curious glances from other students in the garden. Some were admiring his good looks, while others were more intrigued by the rising tension between him and Anabella. "I just decided to come back to Belmont. Heard you broke up with Lucas, so I thought I’d drop by to, you know, calm your broken heart."

Anabella’s face twisted with disbelief. "Are you hearing yourself? Who said I’m heartbroken? That’s the excuse you’re giving me? This is the crap you came up with?"

"Oh, right. You’re only concerned about dicks, not feelings. You’d never be heartbroken in a relationship because you’re just that heartless. If Dad hadn’t tasked you with making Lucas fall in love with you so you could secure the spot as the future heiress of the George family, you would’ve dumped him after the first time you had sex. I hope you used a condom, though. Wouldn’t want you spreading your disease all over the place. Does Dad even know you’re still infected?" Louise retorted, his tone cold.

"Shut up! You don’t get to tell me what I should do. And yes, I used protection with Lucas, for your information. I still valued my relationship with him, even though we’re no longer together," Anabella said, rolling her eyes dismissively. "Besides, I’m not contagious anymore. The virus is hardly noticeable now."

"Good to hear. I was worried you’d infect half the school," Louise shot back, bringing a cigarette from his pocket. It wasn’t actually a cigarette, but tobacco wrapped in paper, which Anabella recognized immediately. She snatched it from his hand and stomped it out on the ground with her foot.

"What the hell is wrong with you, crazy woman?" Louise exclaimed, slightly annoyed. "Do you know how much that cost?"

"Looks like you haven’t learned your lesson. Do you want to go back to rehab?" Anabella asked, her eyebrows raised in warning.

Louise sighed heavily. "Look, I miss you, Momma. It’s been a while. Don’t you miss your brother at all?"

Anabella folded her arms across her chest, glaring at him with disdain. She turned to leave, but Louise grabbed her hand, pulling her back toward him. "There’s a party tonight at my place. Everyone from our class will be there," he whispered into her ear, his warm breath brushing against her neck. "Let’s catch up, have some fun. It’s been too long."

Anabella’s eyes widened in shock, but she didn’t respond. Instead, she yanked her arm free and stormed off, leaving Louise alone once again.

Moments later, Olive arrived at the garden, walking up to Louise with an apologetic smile. "Sorry I’m late. I had to take care of something."

"No problem," Louise said, returning her smile warmly as Olive sat down beside him. "Are you okay, though? It kind of looks like you’ve been crying."

"Oh, no. I’m fine," Olive said quickly, her smile wavering. "Just got some dirt in my eyes."

Louise raised an eyebrow but didn’t press further. "Alright, let’s get started then."

They worked on the school timetable together, with Olive explaining and helping Louise organize his schedule. After they finished, Olive stretched and smiled. "Okay, I think we’re done."

"Thanks, Arthur," Louise replied, flashing his dimples. "You know, what I heard about you is true after all."

Olive blinked, tilting her head. "What you heard about me? What’s that?"

Louise chuckled. "The kind scholarship student who changed Lucas. That’s what I heard. You two seem pretty close. Did Lucas break up with my sister because of you?"

Olive’s eyes widened in surprise. "Your sister? Who’s your sister?"

"Anabella Anderson," Louise replied, leaning back casually. "Queen of Belmont."

"Oh, I see..." Olive murmured, her mind racing. "And no, Lucas didn’t break up with Anabella because of me. He caught her cheating with one of his friends, Aiden, and that’s why they broke up. And besides, Lucas isn’t into guys."

Louise chuckled darkly. "Anabella slept with Lucas’s friend? She’s still the slut I know her as. Some things never change. Anabella and her friends, Peace and Rachel are still the same."

"Huh?" Olive raised an eyebrow, not fully understanding what Louise was muttering under his breath.

Louise shrugged. "Anyway, if you’re so sure Lucas isn’t into guys, I’ll take your word for it. But I wouldn’t be surprised. People can be full of surprises. He might really be bisexual, you never can tell."

Olive didn’t know what to say. Louise’s comments about Anabella and her friends were harsh, but she didn’t feel it was her place to intervene. She kept quiet, simply nodding as he continued.

"So, what do you think? Can I consider you a friend, Arthur?" Louise asked, stretching out his hand for a handshake, a warm smile lighting up his face. "Trust me, I’m not like my sister. I’m different. I’m not a bully."

Olive burst into laughter at his words. "Sure! Friends it is, then," she said, taking his hand, her own face bright with happiness.

"Thanks," Louise replied, his smile widening as he gazed at Olive with an intensity that made her swallow hard.

’He said he’s bisexual. Is he getting attracted to me?’ Olive thought to herself.

Louise’s voice broke through her thoughts. "By the way, there’s a party at my house tonight. You’re invited. I’d be happy if you came and you can bring your friends too," he said, his dimples deepening as he smiled.

"Oh, uh, sure!" Olive replied instinctively but instantly regretted it. ’What the heck did I just agree to?’ she thought. ’Every time there’s a party, something bad happens.’
