Chapter 125: New Student
Chapter 125: New Student
Meanwhile, Olive, Lucas, Mark, and Lara still couldn’t get over Henry’s actions. After much discussion, they finally agreed that Henry might have gone crazy and needed to be taken care of soon.
"Anyways, we’re heading to the cafeteria to grab lunch before the next class starts," Mark announced, taking Lara’s hand in his. He turned toward Lucas and Olive. "What about you two? Aren’t you hungry?"
Both Lucas and Olive shook their heads in unison, offering a silent response.
"Alright then," Mark said with a grin. "You guys are going to be alone in the classroom. Lara and I will be back soon, though." With a playful smile, he and Lara strolled out of the classroom, leaving Lucas and Olive behind.
Lucas shifted his gaze to Olive, who had been breathing heavily. "What’s wrong with you?" he asked, his brow furrowed with concern.
"What’s wrong ’how’?" Olive retorted, frowning as she curiously waited for Lucas to explain.
"You’ve been breathing heavily, like you’re thinking about something," Lucas replied, his eyes never leaving her face.
Olive sighed, forcing a weak smile. "Yeah, I’ve just been thinking about everything going on Aiden, Henry, and the rest of it."
Lucas tilted his head slightly, concern still etched on his face. "Do you want to go somewhere with me?" he asked softly, his gaze locking onto Olive’s.
’Huh? What’s he planning this time?’ Olive thought, suspicion creeping into her mind. ’I have a strong feeling he’s planning to kiss me again and then ghost me for days. That’s not happening.’
Before she could respond, the sound of the school bell signaling the end of lunch break echoed through the hallways. Olive let out a silent sigh of relief. ’Good! No need to answer that question now.’ A wide smile spread across her face, pleased with the timely interruption.
As the students began flooding back into the classroom, Mark and Lara returned as well, both looking a bit disappointed.
"Didn’t realize lunch would be over so soon," Mark grumbled as he flopped into his chair, Lara doing the same beside him.
The classroom soon filled with the chaotic sounds of chattering students, banging lockers, and the shuffle of feet, turning the once peaceful space Olive and Lucas had shared into a noisy whirlwind.
Their teacher, Mr. James, entered the room a moment later, prompting the students to quickly take their seats and focus their attention on him. As he stepped aside, he revealed a new student standing beside him a tall, handsome young man with curly short black hair. He smiled, and the dimples in his cheeks were clearly visible, adding to his charm. His aura gave off the vibe of a sweet bad boy, and he looked like he had walked right out of a dream. Every girl in the room seemed to notice.
The whispers started immediately.
"He’s so hot..."
"Look at those dimples!"
"I love his height. He’s like the perfect guy..."
The girls couldn’t keep their eyes off him, and the intensity of their whispers only grew as they drank in the sight of Louise, who stood before them like a Greek god.
"Alright, everyone," Mr. James began with a welcoming smile. "We have a new student joining us today, and he’s going to introduce himself. I want you all to be nice to him."
He stepped back, allowing the new student to take center stage.
"Hi, everyone. My name is Louise Anderson. It’s a pleasure to meet you all," Louise introduced himself warmly, his smile broad and confident.
The girls practically swooned at the sound of his voice. His accent was smooth, his posture perfect, and the atmosphere in the classroom seemed to heat up as if the school itself had caught fire.
But not everyone was thrilled by his arrival.
Anabella sat with her arms folded across her chest, staring daggers at Louise. She muttered under her breath, "What is he doing here? I thought he said he’d never attend Belmont."
Olive, on the other hand, found herself smiling involuntarily. ’He really is something,’ she thought to herself, admiring Louise from her seat.
Lucas, sensing her attention had shifted to the new student, quickly waved his hand in front of her face, interrupting her thoughts. "Hey, stop staring so much," he grumbled, irritation creeping into his voice.
"What’s your problem?" Olive snapped, glaring at him. "You’re blocking my view."
"Why are you smiling so much? Aren’t your cheeks hurting yet?" Lucas folded his arms across his chest, clearly annoyed.
"And since when did you care about irrelevant things like my smiling? What’s your business with it? Would you prefer I cry instead?" Olive shot back, her tone laced with sarcasm and irritation.
"Yes! You should cry!" Lucas retorted, rolling his eyes in exasperation.
Olive stared at him in disbelief before shaking her head. "Unbelievable," she muttered under her breath, turning her gaze back toward Louise, who had just taken a seat in front of her. He flashed her a charming smile, causing her heart to skip a beat.
Lucas, still watching Olive’s every move, felt a pang of jealousy as he saw her reaction. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his mood darkening.
Meanwhile, Mark leaned closer to Lara, whispering, "He’s cute, isn’t he?"
Lara grinned, her eyes twinkling. "I know, right?"
"But I think Lucas might have some competition now." Mark said with a look of concern.
"Competition?" Lara frowned in confusion.
"You don’t have to hide it anymore," Mark said with a knowing smile, his voice low. "Why do you think I don’t get upset when you and Olive are all clingy? I’ve known since the vacation house."
Lara’s eyes widened in shock. "How did you know her real name?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I overheard your conversation at the vacation house that night," Mark admitted softly. "But don’t worry. I haven’t told anyone. And besides, I’m pretty sure Lucas knows too, and he hasn’t said anything. Your secret is safe with me."
Lara relaxed slightly, though her mind was still reeling from the revelation. "Thanks, Mark. I appreciate it."
"And, by the way," Mark added, his voice dropping lower, "Louise is Anabella’s stepbrother."
"Stepbrother?!" Lara exclaimed, her brows shooting up. "I didn’t know she had one."
Their conversation was cut short when Mr. James cleared his throat, calling the class’s attention back to the front. "Alright, let’s proceed with the lesson," he announced. "Louise, feel free to participate whenever you’re ready."
As the lesson progressed, Olive couldn’t help but steal glances at Louise, who seemed to be adapting quickly to his new environment. Meanwhile, Lucas grew more restless, his eyes darting between Olive and Louise, a storm of jealousy brewing within him.
During a brief pause in the lesson, Louise turned in his seat and leaned toward Olive. "Hey, I’m loving the energy in this class," he whispered with a grin. "Thanks for the warm welcome. Could you help me with the timetable after school?"
Olive felt her cheeks warm as she returned his smile. "No problem. I’d be happy to help."
"Thanks!" Louise replied, flashing her a dazzling grin before turning back to the lesson.
Lucas, who had been watching the entire exchange, clenched his fists under the table. ’What’s this guy up to?’
As the class wound down, Mr. James made one final announcement. "Tomorrow, we’ll have a group project presentation. I’ll assign the groups, and Anabella, our class president, will make sure to inform everyone. Make sure you start preparing."
"Yes, sir!" the students chorused in unison.
"And with that, class dismissed. I’ll send the assignment to the school group chat. Take care, everyone." Mr. James smiled as he left the classroom, leaving the students to their chatter.
As Olive packed her things, Louise approached her again. "Would you like to study together for the project? Maybe grab a coffee afterward?" he asked, his voice smooth and casual.
Olive’s heart skipped a beat at the invitation, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words.
Before she could answer, Lucas, sensing an opportunity slipping away, jumped in. "Actually, Arthur and I already have plans to study together," he said smoothly, smiling at Louise.
Olive blinked, surprised. "We do?"
Lucas nodded innocently. "Yeah, didn’t I mention it earlier? You must’ve forgotten."
Olive opened her mouth to protest, but Lucas continued, "With all these projects, it’s easy to lose track of things. Don’t worry, though. We’ve got it covered."
Louise raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Well, maybe next time then. Just let me know when you’re less busy, Arthur and it’s nice meeting you."
"Of course and it’s nice meeting you too," Olive replied, forcing a smile as she watched Louise walk away.
Once he was out of earshot, Olive turned to Lucas, her irritation bubbling over. "When did we ever agree to study together?"
Lucas shrugged, a mischievous grin on his face. "We just did. You must’ve forgotten."
Olive stared at him, speechless and fuming as Lucas walked out of the classroom, leaving her to sort through her emotions.
Meanwhile, Mark and Lara exchanged knowing glances. They knew that things were about to get interesting.
