Chapter 101: New Beginnings, Old Flames
Chapter 101: New Beginnings, Old Flames
The sun rose over Belmont High School, casting a warm glow across the bustling campus. Various models of cars drove into the school compound, and students, dressed neatly in their uniforms and adorned with expensive accessories, stepped out.
Olive stood by the side of one of the school buildings, neatly dressed in her white shirt and green trousers. Her curly brown hair was tied into a bun, and a backpack hung over her shoulder. A warm, excited smile graced her face as she waited, clearly anticipating someone’s arrival.
A red Ferrari soon pulled up in front of her, fueling her excitement. The chauffeur, dressed in a black suit, stepped out and opened the back door. Mark emerged, dressed in a white shirt, green jacket, and matching trousers. Lara followed, her face beaming with happiness. She wore a white shirt and green jacket paired with a green pleated skirt, her blonde hair cascading down her shoulders.
"Hey!" Lara exclaimed excitedly as she hugged Olive. "It’s so good to see you! Finally, we get to see each other every day!"
"Yes, baby girl. Welcome to Belmont High School," Olive replied, her face glowing with happiness as she continued to hug Lara. They soon separated and turned to face Mark.
"You actually made it happen," Olive said with a light chuckle. "I thought you were joking when you said you were going to get Lara into Belmont."
"I’d never joke about that. It’s a new term, a new era, a new beginning. Let’s make this term memorable," Mark replied with enthusiasm. "I wanted to see Lara every day too," he added, giving Lara a big hug.
"Thanks for making it happen. I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you. You’ve been such a darling, an angel, a godsend," Lara said, her voice filled with sincere gratitude. She gazed at Mark, who shook his head with a smile, signaling her not to mention it.
A Honda Pilot Jeep then parked in front of the group, drawing their attention. Aiden and Henry, dressed in white shirts, green jackets, and trousers, stepped out.
"Wow! Look who we’ve got here. You guys look so hot!" Olive was the first to comment, her excitement clear as she admired Aiden and Henry, who gave each of them side hugs.
"You two finally became good friends," Mark chimed in, causing the group to laugh. "You always complained when Lucas and I made friends with Arthur, grumbling about scholarship students, but look where we are now. You’re friends with Henry."
"You can say that again," Henry said with excitement. "I spent the night at his house. We do almost everything together."
"Yeah! I love being friends with all of you, and I’m looking forward to making this term unforgettable. Now that Belmont is a mixed school, I can already imagine the fun we’ll have," Aiden added with a wink, making the group burst into laughter.
"Lucas is always the last to arrive. Why isn’t he here yet? We all planned to head to the assembly together," Aiden complained, checking his golden wristwatch with a heavy sigh.
"Did you and Lucas talk during the holiday, though?" he continued, raising his eyebrows at Olive, whose expression had turned from happiness to sadness. "You two are the only ones still on bad terms even after the school term ended. Now that it’s a new term, I expected you both to have resolved your differences."
Just as Olive was about to respond, a Mercedes Benz pulled up in front of the group. The chauffeur, dressed in a black suit, stepped out, opened the back door, and Lucas emerged, dressed in a white shirt, green jacket, and trousers. A young woman stepped out beside him, dressed in a white shirt, green jacket, and a pleated skirt.
The lady who emerged from the Mercedes Benz was a vision of elegance and poise. Her raven-black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, with subtle hints of dark brown that caught the morning light. Her eyes were an arresting shade of emerald green, almond-shaped and fringed with thick lashes that fluttered like butterfly wings. Her skin had a radiant, porcelain-like complexion with a subtle golden glow, as if kissed by the sun.
She stood tall, with a confident air that commanded attention, her slender yet athletic build accentuated by her tailored uniform. A delicate silver necklace glinted around her neck, bearing a tiny crystal pendant that refracted the light into tiny rainbows. Her full lips curved into a warm, enigmatic smile as she gazed at the group, her eyes sparkling with intelligence and kindness.
"Wassup, dude," Mark greeted as he moved closer to Lucas and gave him a hug. He then turned to the lady standing beside Lucas. "And greetings to you too, my lady Anabella Anderson."
"Stop it, Mark," Anabella remarked with an elegant yet classy laugh. She then turned her gaze to Lara, a look of disdain crossing her face. "And who’s this? Someone from a wealthy family I don’t know? I already know Arthur and Henry are scholarship students. Having a third scholarship student in this group is going to suffocate me."
"This is Lara, my girlfriend," Mark replied, holding Lara’s hand as a smile danced on her face. "You don’t know her because she’s new to this school."
"What family is she from, then? I know almost all the rich families. Which one is she from?" Anabella asked, her eyebrows raised in curiosity.
"Uhmm... why don’t you just forget about that for now and focus on me?" Lucas chimed in with a charming smile, causing Anabella to turn her gaze to him, her emerald eyes filled with affection as she helped adjust his tie.
"Alright, darling. I’ll focus on you alone. Let’s head to the assembly hall, baby. My legs are getting tired from standing."
"I already knew she was a witch even before she introduced herself," Lara murmured under her breath, though Olive managed to hear her.
"Just leave it, Lara. I had to deal with her trouble last term, and now it’s a new term. There’s no doubt more trouble awaits me," Olive replied with a pang of sadness as she watched Lucas and Anabella display their affection.
Lucas smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he gazed at Anabella. "Of course, my love," he replied, offering his arm to her. She took it graciously, and they walked together toward the assembly hall, with Mark, Olive, and Lara following behind.
As they entered the hall, the buzz of conversation and laughter filled the air. Students from different backgrounds mingled, eager to catch up on each other’s summer breaks. The group made their way to their seats, Anabella’s presence drawing admiring glances and whispers from the other students.

The assembly hall was a grand, spacious room with a high ceiling that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The walls were painted a warm, creamy white and adorned with large windows that allowed natural light to pour in, illuminating the room. The floor was made of polished dark wood, reflecting the light and giving the hall a sense of warmth and sophistication.
At the front of the hall stood a raised stage, equipped with a podium and microphone where Mrs. George was already set, ready to address the students. Behind the stage, a large screen displayed the school’s logo and motto: "Knowledge is Power."
The hall was filled with rows of comfortable, cushioned seats arranged in a semi-circle around the stage. Each seat had a small desk attached, perfect for taking notes.
The room buzzed with conversation and laughter as students mingled, eager to catch up on each other’s summer breaks. The air was electric with excitement and anticipation as everyone waited for the assembly to begin.
As the group took their seats, Olive couldn’t help but notice how Anabella seemed to command attention without even trying. She was like a magnet, drawing people in with her elegance and poise.
Mark leaned over to Olive and whispered, "Just ignore Anabella, okay? She’s like this because she got Lucas back."
Olive nodded, her eyes fixed on Anabella, who was chatting with Lucas and laughing like lovers.
Lara, on the other hand, seemed less than impressed. She sat with her arms crossed, her eyes fixed on Anabella with a mixture of disdain and curiosity.
The assembly soon began as Mrs. George started her speech, and all the students, as well as the teachers, turned their attention to her.
