Chapter 376 Apartment 903

Chapter 376: Chapter 376 Apartment 903

The next morning, Lilith set out early, her eyes still holding that sharp glint of curiosity from the night before. She drove herself toward City N, the sun rising slowly behind her as the cool air brushed against the windows of her car. She had already entered the address Krystal gave her into the map, and the GPS guided her steadily through winding highways and roads.

The drive took nearly three hours.

By the time she arrived, she felt a dull ache in her shoulders and a headache beginning to bloom from the long trip. She sighed and gently pressed two fingers against her temple, allowing a soft wave of healing energy to move through her body. Her fatigue faded almost instantly. The human body she now inhabited was fragile, but with her powers... she could manage it well enough.

She stepped out of the car and looked around.

The area was cleaner than she expected. The building was tall and modern, its glass windows gleaming under the late morning sun. Pale stone walls surrounded the main entrance, and a few green plants in square pots lined the walkway. Not bad. Quiet neighborhood. A little too perfect.

Lilith walked toward the door and was immediately stopped by a security guard at the main entrance. He looked her up and down, clearly not recognizing her.

"You’re not a resident here, ma’am. Who are you here to see?" he asked politely but firmly.

Lilith gave a faint, tired smile. "I’m here on behalf of Krystal Knight. She told me to check her apartment."

The moment she said Krystal’s name, the guard’s expression changed. He reached for his walkie-talkie and called up someone—most likely Krystal herself. After a short conversation on the other end, he nodded respectfully at Lilith.

"She confirmed it. Please go ahead, take the lift to the 9th floor. Apartment 903."

Lilith gave a slight nod of thanks and stepped into the sleek, quiet lobby. The moment the elevator doors closed behind her, her expression shifted back to its calm, unreadable mask.

As the elevator chimed softly, Lilith stepped out onto the 9th floor, her heels clicking gently against the polished marble tiles. The hallway was quiet, softly lit with warm golden lights. A gentle floral scent lingered in the air—perhaps from one of the neighboring apartments.

She walked down the corridor, her eyes scanning the numbers on each door.

899... 901... 903.

There it was.

Lilith stood in front of the apartment for a moment, her hand resting on the doorknob. She wasn’t sure what exactly she was expecting to find inside, but a strange sense of anticipation curled in her chest. She turned the key slowly and pushed the door open.

Click.

The soft creak of the door echoed slightly as she stepped inside and her eyes widened just a little.

The apartment was breathtaking.

Sunlight poured through tall glass windows, illuminating the entire space in a soft glow. The living room was wide and open, decorated in calm neutral tones with hints of gold and blush pink. The furniture was elegant—plush cream couches with velvet pillows, a sleek glass coffee table, and tall shelves filled with beautiful books, crystal vases, and framed photographs. Everything was neat... thoughtful... lived-in.

Lilith slowly closed the door behind her.

Her heels tapped softly on the floor as she walked further in, her eyes absorbing every detail.

There were fake plants placed around adding warmth and life to the space. On the far side of the room, a white desk stood against the wall, topped with a few art supplies, old letters, and a sealed wooden box. Above it hung a painting—a gentle, unfinished portrait of a woman with soft eyes and long hair, standing in the middle of a garden of roses.

Lilith stopped and stared at the painting for a long moment. She didn’t know why... but her heart ached a little.

"...Mom?" she whispered softly, before shaking her head.

She walked deeper inside.

Lilith wandered through the rooms slowly, taking her time to absorb the energy of the space. It had two bedrooms, both decorated with simple elegance, but nothing unusual stood out at first glance.

She checked the drawers in the study—just old books, unopened letters, some neatly stacked envelopes with faded ink. No photos. No secrets. No signs of her mother’s past.

She opened cabinets in the smaller bedroom, found nothing but folded linens and a lavender-scented sachet tucked beneath a pillow. The kitchen was spotless, the fridge nearly empty. The bathroom glistened like no one had used it in a long time.

Lilith’s brows knit together slightly. Her fingers traced the edges of a bookshelf. Still... nothing.

She sighed.

Something about this place made her feel like the answers were just out of reach, tucked behind a veil she couldn’t quite lift.

Walking back into the main bedroom again, she let her eyes roam around carefully—walls, desk drawers, under the bed. But her steps eventually stopped in front of the large, vintage wardrobe resting against the far wall. It was an old piece of furniture, slightly out of place in the otherwise modern room.

Lilith slowly opened the creaking wardrobe doors.

Inside hung a collection of old dresses—delicate, nostalgic, and clearly untouched for a long time. Fabrics in soft pastels and deep jewel tones, some of them wrapped in clear plastic covers. A few had lace sleeves, others were made of silk and hand embroidery. They smelled faintly of rosewood and dust.

She reached out and brushed her fingers against one of the dresses—pale pink with tiny pearls stitched along the collar.

Her throat felt tight for a reason she couldn’t explain.

This was the first time she’d seen something so personal... something that once touched the skin of the woman who gave birth to her.

Lilith gently moved the dresses aside, her fingers brushing over soft silks and delicate lace, until something caught her eye behind the last gown. A flat wooden box was tucked away, almost hidden behind the lining of the wardrobe. Curious, she reached for it and pulled it out carefully.
