Chapter 375 Bitter

Chapter 375: Chapter 375 Bitter

That human man—what was his name again? Sebby? No... Sebastian? Hmph, didn’t matter. Loki had already filled his head with a very convincing memory, one entirely of his own making. It was a blend of real emotions and carefully chosen illusions. A cruelly sweet truth that would break any fragile heart.

"Oh yes..." he whispered, hugging Rose’s teddy bear. "Now that pheasant will surely leave Elder Lilith alone. He’ll think she’s found someone better...heh."

He rolled over dramatically and buried his face into a cushion, shaking with laughter. "Ahahahaha! This is too fun. Honestly, I should be writing drama scripts in this human world—I make better stories than those pitiful human dramas pheasant Human named rose flower watches. I’m amazing!"

Then he sat up suddenly, his small ears twitching. "Though... Elder Sister won’t be happy if she finds out I used my powers on her temporary love. But her mate is the Emperor of Hell—she can’t marry that human!"

With that, he sighed deeply and flopped again, curling up into a soft ball of fluff. His eyes slowly fluttered shut.

"But just in case... I’ll hide under the bed when she gets back..." he mumbled drowsily.

Loki had no idea what chaos he had truly stirred.

Far away from the cozy bedroom where the little cat rolled around, giggling to himself to sleep, the reality was far more serious.

Alexander wasn’t allowed to leave.

He had tried—of course he had. The moment he woke up, his body trembling with exhaustion but his mind roaring with Lilith’s name, he had tried to get up, to walk out...

But Atlas and the doctor had stopped him.

Firmly.

"There’s still risk," Atlas said, arms crossed as he stood at the edge of the hospital bed. "You collapse again, and I’m not picking up the pieces."

"I’m fine," Alexander growled, yanking the IV line out of his arm. "Give me my phone back!!"

"Not until you’ve completed the scans," the doctor said coolly, tapping the tablet in his hand. "One more series, and we check your neuro signals. You’ve been under for month. Don’t act like you’re invincible."

Alexander sat back down, eyes glaring at nothing in particular. His red eyes—those frightening, cold ones were burning with frustration. But the truth was, his body wasn’t strong enough yet. He could barely stand without trembling, and the sudden bursts of emotion weren’t helping.

His heart was like a caged beast, thumping madly.

Not from fear But from what he saw in that twisted, unreal dream him.

Lilith. With another man. In hell. Marrying someone else. Smiling.

It didn’t feel like a lie.

It felt too real.

And that scared him.

This hospital hidden deep in the outskirts was a place few people knew even existed. A place Alexander himself had built four years ago when he first began noticing irregularities in his health. He didn’t want the Carter family to know.

So he had created this space—luxurious yet sealed off from the world.

Inside, the labs were equipped with the most advanced private research technology. Doctors and experts were working in secret related Brain, Multiple personality and mental disorders.

And now, after everything, he was forced to stay. Forced to be tested again. Forced to calm his racing thoughts while Lilith... might be slipping away.

He clenched his fists and stared at the closed blinds of the hospital window.

All he knew... was the fear of losing her.

And the terrifying truth was: he might have already lost her.

***

After taking the keys from Krystal, Lilith returned to her small, quiet house. The skies had already turned dark, and the roads were nearly empty as she drove home. Her fingers toyed with the old-fashioned key in her pocket, and her mind kept circling around the letter... her mother’s words, the hidden truth.

But the silence inside her home felt heavier tonight.

Once inside, she didn’t bother turning on many lights. She placed the key carefully on the table near her bed and looked out the window for a long time. The address Krystal had given her was in another city—three hours away at least. She decided she would go tomorrow, early in the morning. Something inside told her... this was important. Something big was waiting there.

But for now, she needed rest.

This human body... so easily tired. So soft. So fragile. Nothing like the one she had ruled the underworld with. She was still getting used to it.

She stripped off her clothes, letting it fall to the floor, and stepped into the bathroom for a quick rinse. The warm water helped ease the tightness in her shoulders. Her thoughts didn’t stop though.

"He tried to kill my mother... and now me."

She whispered the words aloud, testing how they felt on her tongue.

Bitter.

Once in bed, Lilith stared at the ceiling in the dark, her hand resting lightly over her chest where the heart beat quietly beneath her ribs.

She didn’t feel sad.

She felt... awake.

And tomorrow, she would go to that address.

To be honest, deep down, Lilith was a little excited.

Not the soft kind of excitement that made people giggle and dance in circles—but the quiet, cold kind that settled deep in her bones. The kind that came when a mystery was close to unraveling. Her lips curled slightly as she lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling. The moonlight slipped through her window, painting pale silver across the floor.

Who is the father of this body’s original owner?

That question wouldn’t leave her mind. Her fingers slowly brushed against her own cheek, tracing the sharp lines and soft skin. It was strange—she looked so much like her old self. Too much. Was that just a coincidence? Or... was her real father the same man who had once brought chaos to the underworld?

That possibility sent a strange thrill through her.

She couldn’t help but wonder—what if?

Her thoughts began to spiral. What if her rebirth wasn’t an accident? What if this entire body, this face, this life was linked deeper than she imagined? Her eyes gleamed in the dark. What if her blood carried the same ancient cruelty that ran through her veins before?

She couldn’t wait to find out.

With that dangerous curiosity glimmering in her eyes, Lilith turned to her side and finally closed her eyes.

Tomorrow would come soon.
