Destroy My Life In You
Chapter 69: Possessive As Ever

Chapter 69: Possessive As Ever

I never saw that there would come a day when I would see at his weakest, but at that moment, I saw pain flash in his eyes, though it was just faint and fast. He tried masking his emotions well, but the way his hands trembled while holding my waist was proof of the unsaid agony he felt.

"It’s okay. We can talk about it some other time," I whispered, caressing his cheek, then embraced him.

His hands pulled me closer as if he could not get enough. He seemed desperate. Like something was haunting him internally, and I was the little brim of light he was holding on to.

"He’s right. I killed... her. I killed Astrid." His voice was cracked, and he held me tightly.

From what I could recall, the incident happened centuries ago. So, for a memory to haunt him until then, this could only mean there was more to it. He did not kill her because he wanted to or what the rumours said.

"It’s not your fault, okay? I believe whatever happened was not your fault," I tried comforting him while softly rubbing his hair.

Alaric buried his face on her shoulder, took a deep inhalation, and then pulled away from the hug.

"Whatever the reason, I still coldbloodedly murdered her. I... dug out her heart."

I could feel his hands go cold. His mind was distorted, and he seemed to be battling with something on his mind. Blue veins popped on his forehead and temple.

"Alaric. Hey! Look at me," I urgently called out, holding his cheeks and making him look at me. That seemed to work as he calmed down a bit. Only his heavy breaths were left as he gasped for air.

I now understood why no one talked his past in front of him. He could easily lose control, and I had already witnessed what he could do once he was in a fit of rage.

"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean..." He could not even complete his statement and looked away.

"It’s really okay. It’s also fine to let it out sometime. It’s okay to be weak." I smiled at him, to assure he was jot alone anymore.

Alaric faintly smiled back, then nodded. "Don’t ever leave me, okay? I don’t know what I would do if I lost you too. If someone has to die first, then let it be me."

I jokingly and lightly slapped his shoulder, feigning annoyance. "Where did death come from? I don’t want to die yet."

Alaric chuckled, which brightened up my heart. "Says the one who was asking me to kill her. Do you still remember how you went crazy in the warehouse? You can be quite scary when angry."

I frowned at the flashback and then poked his chest with my index finger, saying, "Then you better not make me angry, or I’ll burn down your mansion next time."

"You almost brought it down last time," he murmured with a chuckle, but I did not understand what he meant.

"When did I do that?"

He leaned in closer then whispered, "When you went berserk with jealousy. You shook the entire house with your roar. I almost thought a lion had toured my home."

"Shut up! Don’t make up stories. I can’t even shift how could I be able to bring down an entire mansion. And I was not jealous, alright? I just felt hurt... and after that... I don’t remember what happened."

I explained honestly. The memory between that time at the mansion and when I woke up in the warehouse was missing. I had tried to recollect several times what had happened, but I never did.

"You really did shake my mansion, and some parts even cracked. Your eyes were glowing blue as well." I knew Alaric was not lying because I had experienced that before, when I had met Jaxon in that restaurant.

I explained to him the events with Jaxon, and in conclusion. "So, when I’m angry, I tend to lose control of myself and then lose control of myself?"

"I think so, too. But don’t worry about that. I’ll ask Nyx how to deal with it. It might be the side effect of your power since you could not shift. Thus, you are unable to fully contain it."

His explanation was logical, and I nodded in agreement.

"Speaking if Nyx, you shouldn’t punish. I followed her willingly. She didn’t force or kidnap me," I had to put in some good words to save my dearest friend.

"What did she say to convince you to go with her? I thought both of you would tear each other apart when Zeke informed me she had taken you." I could sense mischief in his voice, and I chuckled nervously.

"Nothing much. I only told her I didn’t wish to go back to your place, and she invited me to take a trip around the world with her. Who was I to refuse such a tempting offer. The first few days were awkward, but we started getting along when we realized we had the same interest. Eating, getting drunk, handsome guys... Hey! What’s with the bite?"

I rubbed the bite mark on my shoulder, glaring at him.

"How many handsome guys did you meet?"

I didn’t need a sixth sense for me to understand his possessive mode was awakened. Huh! Possessive as ever.

"Lots of them, especially in Los Angeles. That legendary city is filled with juicy... Damn it! Stop fucking biting!"

"That’s your punishment for looking at other men."

"But we had broken up." I unconsciously shouted, but that was the worst mistake I made.

His eyes burned blood red with something I couldn’t really explain. "Don’t ever say that again."

I gulped and nodded. "And you stop glaring me like I’m the biggest sinner."

"That you are. Who praises another man in front of his lover?"

I replied with an ’oh’ still not getting his point. "But I only looked. I didn’t do anything else."

Alaric narrowed his eyes, as his hand travelled over to my chin. "You aren’t allowed to look either. Would be happy if I looked at another person? Hmm?"

No. Not at all. I bit my lip, unable to bring myself to say it. The thought of him staring at another woman the way he looked at me was unsettling.

"I won’t look at someone else," I replied instantly. "But... can I watch the ones on TV?"

"Not them either. Your eyes can only look on me, understood?"

I accepted just for the sake of peace. He wouldn’t know if I watched them on my phone, right?

"Let me not catch you, because if I do..."

I slapped away his hand that was travelling over my breast then said, "Don’t you think you’ve been talking than you usually used?"

Then I tried standing up from his lap but he wouldn’t let go.

"Let me hold a little longer."

Ten minutes later.

"Just a little bit more."

"My legs are already numb, Alaric."

"Lemme massage them for you."

"__"

"I also haven’t punished you for running away, love. How did I forget that?"

"But..."

And the leg massage turned into a whole body massage.
