Destroy My Life In You
Chapter 58: Conspiracy 3

Chapter 58: Conspiracy 3

It was barely 7 pm, and I walked inside Samsara. My only purpose here was to find Alaric before whoever that bastard was got to him. I walked past the two dance halls and followed the path where Alaric and I had gone through the first time he brought me here. Anxiety crept in wondering what I would do if those people got to Alaric before I did. Though I knew he was not weak, my heart still couldn’t rest knowing someone was scheming behind his back. Even if he survived, I didn’t want him to be harmed. For someone to challenge Alaric so openly, they had to be powerful enough to take him down. Or else, no one would mess with the ruthless Vampire King.

I walked through the path and finally got to the last room where we had been. Scanning around, everything seemed normal as before, but only a few people were there. I took stroll searching for Alaric, but he was nowhere to be found. Every single minute was important, and I couldn’t afford to lose time.

"Where the hell are you?" I tried calling his phone, but he was unreachable, rapidly increasing the tension. I had a bad feeling about what was going to happen.

I walked out of the room and was on my way back when I felt the air turn chill. I paused, looking around, but there was no one. I brushed it off, thinking it was because I was tensed, and headed towards the door, opening the male strippers’ club. But to my astonishment, the place which was livelier a few minutes ago had grown suspiciously quiet. Not only that, there was not a single soul in the club, which made my guard rise up instantly. I took out a pistol from the side of my waist and readied myself in case of any attacks, which I was sure was going to happen any time now. But then...

"Well, well, well, you are early. Just like I thought."

It was the same voice, of the stranger who had called me, but I couldn’t see where exactly he was. My senses heightened, and only then could I hear a large number of heartbeats in the room.

Before I could even react to what was next, vampires filled the all dressed in black suits. Their growl echoed while they surrounded the entire club. As I had thought, this so-called meeting was not like any other. Something was cooking behind yet, which I desperately wanted to find out.

"Is this all you’ve got? Sending your errand boys to capture me. Why not come and face me yourself, you fucking coward." I knew my words were the best in such kind of situation but giving that person the satisfaction of surrendering easily was something I could not do.

"Hush, little Ven. You might end up dismembered if you dare insult my friends over there," the person said, followed by an annoying laughter. "You see, every person over there has deep hatred for Alaric and would do anything, just to see him down on his knees. Now that you are his mate..."

I narrowed my eyes carefully, scanning and listening to any slight movement. Luckily, I had loaded the pistol with silver bullets, which could take down vampires once shot on the heart. Even if I was to be caught, I would take some of them down with me.

"Is thay supposed to make me beg for mercy? Whoever you are, why not show your stupid ass? Let’s end this quickly." My plan was to get him over, and if I got a chance, the first bullet would end up on the person’s heart.

"Don’t be impatient, my dear. The fun is yet to begin. After all, our guest of honour has not arrived yet."

My heart skipped a bit quickly registering who he was referring to, Alaric. I only hoped Alaric would not fall into their trap. "So you are keeping me here in order to blackmail him with me?"

The man’s voice resonated in my ears, irritating every nerve on my body. "Wrong. That’s not my plan, my dear. What I have in mind is bigger than you think, and by the time I am done, you will have only three options. But in each of them, you will end up without Alaric."

"What do you mean?" I was now confused. "You want to kill him?"

"No, no, no. Not at all. That would be too easy compared to the sins he has committed. I want him to suffer, and the first is by taking him away from you or vice versa, whatever. Today, that will happen one way or another."

So that was his plan all along, to separate Alaric and I. But there was one thing I couldn’t understand.

"What will you gain by doing this? Do you think that will break him? A mare unshifted werewolf girl would become his weakness? You are so wrong. The person rumoured to have killed his own lover without a second thought. Why would he care if I left him or even died? I’m just another woman on his list and would soon be trashed away after he is done." My heart knew how much I didn’t mean those words. I just had to do so for the sake of stopping whatever this man was planning. I could feel his plan was not that simple. There was more to this.

"Let’s see if it’s true. His Highness has already..."

A loud bang interrupted the man’s speech, and the door went flying, together with the vampires standing behind it. Alaric walked his hands folded behind his back, and six more people followed. Finn, Zander, Zeke, Luke, Seth, and a woman I couldn’t recognise. I bet she was the one who had answered Alaric’s phone earlier in the morning.

My eyes met Alaric’s frosty ones, and I felt a chill run down my spine. Somehow, they looked familiar. Just the same as in my dream, where he would gouge out my heart. I was hell scared.

"You dare betray me!" Then his voice made me freeze, accusingly staring at me. And betray? I didn’t know what he meant by that.

"What?" I murmured almost inaudible, casting a glance on the others standing beside Alaric. It seemed as if I had fallen a prey in this game of dead creatures.

"Didn’t you meet some man in a hotel some days ago? What were you doing for five hours..."

"Zeke!" I glared at him, my anger flaring up rapidly.

"What? Are you ashamed now that you are exposed? Daring to fuck some..."

"Don’t say what you don’t know, you fucking bastard." I pointed the gun on their way in anger but didn’t mean to pull the trigger.

"Isn’t it true?" Someone whom I never expected added, making my legs grow weak.

"Finn? What the heck are you even saying?" I saw him look away from me, disgust filled in his eyes.

"Zander, you know I wouldn’t do that. Please tell them." He was my only hope.

"Not anymore. Zeke saw you with his own eyes going to meet him. Am I lying?"

A gasp left my mouth, unable to answer, but I knew I had to. "I did go to meet Jaxon, but not for that reason. I..."

Something gripped my neck, stopping me from talking and unfortunately, it was Alaric. His movements were swift and I didn’t even see how he got to me.

"Selling information to my foes and your family? Aren’t you daring?" He whispered his hold tightening.

"Aa... I..." I couldn’t speak. The moment I tried, he squeezed harder almost choking me to death. But his accusations were baseless and thay was choking my heart with emotions.

I had never felt so terrified before. I wanted to cry but the tears wouldn’t fall even though the pain I felt was too much.

"Looks like you were right, little Ven. His Highness wouldn’t care if you left or died."

The tables had turned so quickly in a way that I was not prepared. It seemed my nightmares and biggest fear would finally come true. Dying my the hands of the person I loved more than myself. I closed my eyes feeling life draining out of me and it wasn’t long after, darkness took over.
