Destroy My Life In You
Chapter 57: Conspiracy 2

Chapter 57: Conspiracy 2

"Am of no use to you, why do you still insist on keeping me?" She just wanted to hear him say it. He loved her as much as she did. She was becoming more desperate as days went by, maybe more than desperate to the extent of destroying herself in this love.

Alaric paused and kept his laptop aside. He held her hand and brought her in front of him before pulling her to his lap.

Silently, he sniffed her neck and licked it, then replied, "Because I want to." He continued his actions, and his hands were already moving under her dress, caressing her thighs.

Ravenna took a deep breath, trying to stop herself from diving into pleasure as always. "Will you ever say it?" Her voice came out as a low yearning plead, and with his advanced hearing ability, Alaric did not miss a word.

"Say what?" His hand reached her pant, ready to tear it apart.

"That you love me." Her words made him pause abruptly before looking at her. As usual, his eyes were blank with no hint of emotions, making Ravenna feel like she was just fooling herself. For how long could she endure this?

"Do I?" He asked, not tearing his gaze away from her eyes that were already tearing up.

"Then let me go. You can reject..." Her words were swallowed in by his riugh kiss, giving her no chance to argue.

"You are mine, Ven. Only mine," he whispered near her lips before placing a light peck on them. "Don’t ever think of running away or else... I’ll really punish you."

Ravenna gulped, feeling a cold swear run down her spine due to his words. "What if you can’t find me?"

He didn’t reply for a while and continued making love bites on her shoulder. "I’ll always find you. Do you know why?"

Ravenna shook her head, throwing her head backwards to give e him access to her neck. "Tell me."

Alaric smiled while sucking on her neck, down to her cleavage. "To fulfil our promise."

"What promise?" She enquired, dipping her fingers into his soft hair.

Alaric paused and looked at her, his eyes filled with rare warmth. "When the time is right, you’ll know."

’When the time is right, you’ll know.’

’When the time is right, you’ll know.’

The words echoed in Ravenna’s head as she tried to catch her breath. It was yet another dream. Luckily, this time, there were no gore images, or Alaric killed her.

All these dreams and nightmares felt so real that she couldn’t distinguish what was true and false anymore. Her head was mixed up, and she needed someone to talk to before she lost her mind completely.

"Is someone messing with my head?" She pulled her hair, trying to put one and one together. Throwing the covers away, she got off the bed, pacing up and down, then stopped abruptly as if something struck her. "The nightmares got worse when I met Jaxon in that damn restaurant. Does he have something to do with this?... No, no, no, it can’t be. He doesn’t have that kind of power... Unless..."

A phone interrupted her, and she immediately picked up, though it was an unknown number.

"Alaric, is that you?" She asked instantly, overly anxious and excited at the same time.

"Unfortunately, no," a masculine voice replied, then went silent.

Ravenna frowned and was about to cut off the call, but something stopped her. "And who might you be?" She asked coldly, thinking that voice felt somehow familiar.

"What a shame you forgot your saviour so soon," the other person said, feigning sadness.

From her memory, Ravenna could not recollect anyone who had saved her or something, apart from Finn. "I don’t know you." She was about to hang up the phone, but the man’s next words made her think otherwise.

"Jaxon is dead."

There was silence on both sides for a minute before Ravenna broke it. "What?" She was shocked to the core. Jaxon? Dead? The person had to be lying.

"Oh, not dead, but was actually killed."

"That’s not true. He’s a were..." She paused, then sat on the bedside, her heart beating slower than normal.

"A werewolf, right? I know and probably must be thinking who is strong enough to kill him. Well then, I’ll do the honour of revealing the truth," the man paused for a second, and when there was no relay, he continued. "His Highness, you know whom I’m talking about killed him."

Ravenna almost dropped her phone but composed herself. His highness? She knew that he was definitely referring to Alaric. After all, he was the only royal she knew about.

"Who are you?" She didn’t want to believe Alaric would do that. He wasn’t that pety to kill someone for nothing. The person on the phone could just be lying to her because he needed something.

The man laughed softly on the phone and answered, "You’ll know soon, my dear. You know Samsara Club, right? Meet me there tonight, 9pm sharp. Don’t be late."

"Why should I believe you? This might just be your plan to lure me out." Ravenna clenched her grip on the phone, a strange feeling spreading across her heart. It resisted against the idea of going as if it knew nothing good was waiting for her. Nevertheless, she wasn’t going to lay down and wait for someone to use her as a bait for Alaric.

"Hmm, you are right," the man went silent for a moment the added. "Check your phone, I have sent you something. And before I forget, Alaric will also be here, so if you want to save him..."

The man hanged midway, leaving Ravenna with images of what would happen if she didn’t alert Alaric.

A notification brought her back to reality, and the moment she opened the message, a picture of Jaxon’s corpse met her eyes. For the first time in life, she loathed death, though she had killed countless. Jaxon was still her childhood friend who stayed with her during her dark moments in the pack, even if at last he abandoned her. It hurt her a lot seeing him dead.

She tried calling Alaric, and fortunately, the call went through this time. "Hello, Alaric," She called out the moment it was picked up.

"Who are you?" A female voice replied instead.

Ravenna hanged up immediately before lying motionless on the bed, staring at the ceiling unblinkingly. Unknown to her, her eyes were glowing blue again, and this time, it was more fierce and intense.
