Destroy My Life In You
Chapter 44: The Truth

Chapter 44: The Truth

I never said a word again and reluctantly allowed Alaric to carry me back to bed. I could feel his intense gaze on me and I dared not look up. I was nervous, confused and scared what if Alaric...

"I know everything. "

Those three words made my heart stop for a moment. He knew? When? How?

"I... What do you mean?" I still didn’t want to admit it. Not until I was sure we were on the same page or I would end up exposing myself foolishly.

"You are Derek’s daughter." His answer was short and precise and there was no further explanation I needed. It was over for me.

"I didn’t mean to hide... it from you. I only came to know about it when you..."

I was shaking terribly while explaining when I felt Alaric capture my lips into a gentle kiss, then withdrew after accomplishing his mission which was to shush me.

"I know." He cupped my cheek confusing me with his sudden warmth. Wasn’t he supposed to be angry? Lash out on me or even gouge out my heart? Or maybe this was just calm before the storm.

"Alaric... I really didn’t know about it." I had never felt so scared and torn at the same time. "What I feel for you is... genuine. No one sent me here or anything. I didn’t betray you... please don’t..."

"If you utter another word I’ll suck you dry right now. You know what I mean?"

Of course I did. He would drain blood out of my body as he always threatened to do. I went quiet instantly looking at him. As always, there was no emotion visible in his eyes which really broke my heart and hope into pieces.

I could not hold anymore and burst into tears, crying loud. At least I should annoy him with my voice before he sent me to hell. I wailed staning my pajamas and sheets with tears and snots.

Few minutes passed but there was no word from Alaric, thus I went quiet, and raised my head to look at him.

"Are you done?" That was the question I was met with making me flinch and folded my legs and placed hands on my knees. Before I could hide my face, he grabbed my chin and made me look directly into his eyes, then leaned closer to me. "Now listen to me carefully."

I nodded then he continued. "I have no intention of harming you, so you don’t have to be afraid of me."

I didn’t believe it. Not even a single bit of his word. "You don’t trust me?"

I subconsciously nodded my head then shook it instantly I snapped put. "I do." That was a lie. I trusted him with anything else but at that moment, not with my life.

"I hate liars and you’ve lied to me twice now." I heard his hold on my chin tighten as he made advances towards me. "What should I do with you?"

That question made my breath stop wondering if this was now the time to kiss earth goodbye.

"Just make it quick... Am... ready." If only I could add ’not’ before the ready. I closed my eyes but only got a chuckle as a response from him which really made me snap, especially due to fear that was eating me inside. "Is killing me a joke to you, bastard. Do you know how... ha... how scared I... am right now?... I hate this, you and everything. This maybe not painful to you because you can’t feel the mate bond but am born a werewolf even though I can’t shift. It’s breaking every part of me when you delay... Waah! How could I be mated to such a cruel vampire? Why not choose someone easygoing like Fffii..."

I couldn’t finish when I felt something or rather someone place a finger on my lip. What a surprise he didn’t kiss me this time. Or was he already disgusted with me to this point?

Before I could dive further into self hate, he cupped both my cheeks and wiped off my tears with his thumb.

"It’s not a good idea to mention another man’s name to your mate, don’t you know that?" I felt a cold chill run down on my spine under his watchful gaze.

"You are just too possessive. Good for you the mate bond doesn’t affect you." I added placing hand on top his, in an attempt to pull them away before I started lying to myself early in the morning.

"How sure are you it doesn’t affect me?"

I rolled my eyes internally wondering what kind of a question was that. "Simple. You are a vampire and not a wolf. The mate bond only works on us."

I explained and went quiet still my eyes fixated on his. "Don’t be so sure."

"Do you want to say the vampires also feel the mate bond? What a liar. You’ll burn in hell too."

He chuckled before pulling me closer to his face. "Look carefully, sweetheart." He smirked staring at me intently then I saw it. His eyes became red and then golden.

Everything seemed to appear in a slow motion as all the memories of when I had seen his eye colour change, occurred to me. They were always red the. golden and sometimes a mixture of both. As far as I knew, vampires had red eyes and as for golden, only the werewolves.

"How’s this possible?" I asked subconsciously stretching my fingers towards his face.

A curve formed on his lips his eyes glowing golden like the sun. They were... extremely beautiful. "It’s possible. Because am a hybrid."

It took a few seconds to registered and when I did, my entire mind and body froze unable to think of anything, only hearing the echoes of his words. He was a hybrid, meaning a half vampire and a half wolf.

"But... hybrids went extinct a long time ago." I muttered holding my breath in both shock and curiosity.

"Yes. They were all killed by Silver Pack centuries ago and am the only surviving hybrid right now."

I knew he was not lying from the rare emotion in his eyes. He seemed lost, a flash of pain in them which disappeared as fast as it came. But what shocked me was the mention of my pack. That might have been the ancestors because I had never heard of that tale before.

"Why would Silver Pack kill them?"

"It’s a long story. But to cut it short, they claimed it was a taint to their bloodline and also because the hybrids were more powerful than normal vampires and wolves."

Alaric retreated and sat on the bed clenching his fist, as if he had recalled something painful.

Now that we were having the conversation, I decided to ask that question which had been bugging me for hours. I leaned backward fidgeting, while staring at him warily and full of hope.

"Is true that... you killed someone you loved because you found out she was a werewolf?" By the time I finished that question, I regretted immediately.
