Destroy My Life In You
Chapter 25: Mine!

Chapter 25: Mine!

Ravenna was panting heavily glaring at Zeke with a murderous gaze. If not for Alaric who was holding her in place, she would have already matched towards Zeke in a fit of anger. No one had ever gotten so close to killing her before, to the extent that she even thought of surrendering. Coming to think of it, the form she had seen in him in earlier seemed no near to human. His eyes had changed just like they were now, and the fangs, Ravenna was dead convinced she not was hallucinating or anything.

"What’s he doing here?" She asked her teeth gritted, while glaring at Alaric questioningly.

"He lives here too." Alaric replied plainly, with a somehow unnoticeable foul mood.

"Lives here? I didn’t see him before." She narrowed her eyes waiting for answers.

"Because he wasn’t here at that time."

"He tried to kill me for fucks sake. There’s no way am going to live with him under one roof."

"You don’t have to, Finn is back now and you are free to leave."

Ravenna was a bit confused but then remembered about the deal. She was to stay with Alaric until Finn returns from his trip and now that he was back, there was no reason for her to live there anymore. A sharp pain passed through her heart as everything registered in her mind slowly. A day ago, she was hellbent to escape and now that she knew would leave soon, somewhere deep down in her heart, she didn’t want to which was quite frustrating. It was only this morning she had decided to forget about him but when it came to doing so...

Finn was silently watching back and forth as Alaric and Ravenna conversed as if they had known each other for years. That was not what shocked mostly, but the scene of watching his brother, who barely talks, argue over small things with the same very gender he loathed to the bones.

Zander on the hand was quietly pleased but did not show it. Everything worked out as they had planned. Only a bit more effort and everything would work itself out.

"So, at last I still have return to the camp," Ravenna broke the silence, looking at Finn and Zander pleadingly, then sat down beside Alaric.

"You don’t have to. That’s is if you wish to stay here." Zander spoke up, surprising Ravenna.

"I want to stay here, I mean in this city." She replied instantly in case he changed his mind.

Zander stood up bearing a calculative smile and then looked at Alaric. "You know where to find me, brother." With that, Zander left the mansion knowing the next time he would come there, things won’t be peaceful as now. He had already waited for long to execute his plans and it was just a matter of a few days and everything would be as it was before.

Left were the three men and Ravenna who was drowning in her thoughts until she heard her name being called out by Finn.

"It’s rare for you to be so distracted. Where are you lost to?"

Ravenna sighed internally then taking a glance at Alaric who, surprisingly, was also looking at her, but she withdrew quickly before she got enchanted again. "It’s nothing, don’t worry. What were you saying?"

Finn nodded his head with a knowing smile. "Am asking if you want to leave right away or should I come back for you later?"

"Ooh that," she gulped and her heart was beating irregularly unable to answer. She also didn’t know what to say, the mind was willing but the heart could not be convinced. But all in all, she had no good reason to explain to them why she wanted to stay so... "Let’s go now."

"Good." Finn commented taking a secret look at his brother and as he had guessed, there was a trace of coldness that was not there earlier, after he heard Ravenna’s reply. "Zander already sent your belongings in my house so you don’t have to worry about anything."

Ravenna nodded smiling half-heartedly then stood up. Without a word to Alaric, she passed in front of him as if anticipating for something but to her dismay, it did not happen. She wanted him to stop her as he always did but he did not. As if poured cold water, Ravenna felt an iced sweat running down her spine, as if her soul was forcefully being ripped away. Walking away, she got near the door where the ignored Zeke was standing. She narrowed her eyes at him before showing a sign that she was watching him, with her two fingers, the index and the middle.

Zeke scoffed and turned away but his expression showed his hatred towards Ravenna seemed to have subsided a little. Only he knew the reason. "I don’t like you at all." He spoke almost like trying to convince himself.

"I didn’t say I do." Ravenna walked away leaving Zeke irritated, but there was a subtle feeling creeping in his heart, as if he had found something precious.

Inside the living the room, Finn turned to his brother after watching Ravenna going out. "Crazy, isn’t she?" He murmured feeling proud.

Alaric did not reply at first and just studied Finn keenly, as if he could read his mind. "Whatever you and Zander are up to, don’t let me find out. I won’t show mercy."

Finn chuckled lightly then stood up. "I can’t wait for you to do so. I’ll take my leave now."

Alaric was left on the sofa alone, trying to decipher what might be going on, but his mind was occupied by something else. That face, that annoying yet soothing voice, all her curses and shouts at him. He could feel she was drifting away from him like what what he wanted, He was supposed to be pleased because he could finally be free from watching her, but something inside him did not want that. Like earlier when she passed beside him, he so much wanted to grabbed her and lock in his arms and never let go. Whisper to her that she belonged there, with him, beside him and he didn’t wish for her to leave ever. Only he knew how much of control it took for him not to do so.

"All okay?" Zeke broke off his trance. He stood beside Alaric observing him unblinkingly. Zeke had never seen him so distracted he already what the reason was. "You want didn’t her to leave, right?"

"Shut up!" Alaric warned, his voice a bit restrained, as if he did not want to acknowledge what Zeke had just said.

"I know am right. From the look of things, I can see you like her." Zeke did not listen and he spoke out his thoughts. If that girl had the power to make his Alaric smile again, he was willing to accept her no matter how much she pissed him off. Alaric was all that mattered to him. "You don’t have to deny yourself happiness because of her, my sister. If possible, she would also want to you to love again." Zeke left in a flash because he knew he had uttered the forbidden.

Left alone, Alaric spent a few minutes of silence before letting out a loud sorrowful growl. He had been abandoned once and he would not allow it to happen for the second. Not again.

"Mine." His eyes shone golden, brighter than Zeke’s then his fangs protruded out of his mouth, and they were twice longer than Zeke’s. "Mine! Only mine!"
