Destroy My Life In You -
Chapter 26: Burning Insides
Chapter 26: Burning Insides
Two weeks had already passed by since I left from Alaric’s place. Rather than forgetting about him, I felt as if a part of me was left behind. I was getting worse as days went by, unable to get him out of my head. Memories of him kept haunting me even in my dreams. I could hear his voice in my head calling out my name, asking me to go back to him, like he was in agony, pain and despair breaking me completely. I wished I could back to him but I had no courage to do so. What would I say to him? That I was madly in love with him and I could not get him out of my head? That would sound absurd calculating I had only stayed with him not more than three days. He might even suspect me of being a spy sent by his enemies to lure him, and might kill me for real tis time.
Sighing deeply, I walked out of the room I had been staying in Finn’s house, after freshening up. I was on my way down stairs when I heard voices of two people conversing. It was quite strange since only Finn and I had been living in the mansion, not even did he have helpers.
"Some businessman perhaps," I murmured to myself and proceeded down intending to ignore them, but all came to a stop when I met those familiar dark eyes staring at me unblinkingly and intensely. They seemed to be screaming a lot but at that moment, I had no time to think about anything else other than the fact that he was here. Finally, Alaric had come. A warm feeling spread across my heart, feeling the missing inside me being filled up. I had found my other half whom I realized then I was so deeply in love with him and living without him was something I could not endure anymore. Not now that I had seen him being away for that long. It actually felt like a century of separation.
"Long time no see, Hellish girl." I definitely missed that voice too and the way he called me hellish, it just so made heart, body and soul want to turn bad as hell and jump on him. "I bet you missed a lot."
I wanted to shout yes but I remained quiet watching him till I was satisfied and convinced it was not another of my daydreams. "What if I did?" I teased back trying to stop myself from grinning widely, but only managed a little bit.
"I might consider abducting you and keep you by my side. What say?" And for the first time, I saw a glimmer of happiness in his eyes though it disappeared as fast as it came. His smile was as beautiful as the moon, lighting up my dark and lonely nights.
"Sounds quiteS tempting." I approached and stood beside Finn who was silently watching us. "What do you think, Finn?"

"What I think is... you both hit it off quite well. It’s very rare for my dear brother here to befriend anyone, especially ladies." Finn winked at Ravenna, rounding his arm on her shoulder deliberately. He was trying to test the waters and for sure, it did work. The air turned chilly and with his sharp eye sight, he saw the man other man standing in front of them clench his fist that was hidden in his pocket, and gritted his teeth a sign of irritation.
"Oh really? But that’s not what I saw the first day I visited his office. He does befriend ladies, but secretly I guess." Ravenna felt something strange heat rise up inside her and she started getting angry, thinking of that particular day. It was a new feeling that crept in whenever she thought about Alaric with Nyssa or any other person.
Finn could not miss the jealousy in her voice and burst out into laughter watching the two grim faces getting jealousy over each other’s affairs, but still dared not confess their feelings. All these two weeks, Finn had even thought he was wrong and maybe his brother did not have that deep impression towards Ravenna but all was proved wrong this morning when he received a call from Alaric that he had some business to discuss with him. A sense of hope rose in him when he saw how distracted he was, when conversing and was secretly looking upstairs time to time, thinking Finn could not smell what was going on. When Alaric was about to leave, that was when both of them heard those light, slowed footsteps and Alaric took an abrupt stop unwilling to move even after Finn asked him to. Thinking of all that, Finn smiled devilishly before pulling Ravenna even closer, making her hit his chin with her forehead.
"Ouch! Why are you being so clingy so early in the morning, dude?" She groaned rubbing her head annoyed by Finn. She could never get used to his mood swings nowadays and was ready to expect anything since she came there.
"Do you prefer I do it at night?" He shifted his hand to her waist barely touching her, but made it seem so in front of the man who watching his every move with burning eyes. Probably burning with anger and jealousy.
"To hell with night. Who wants to... mmmh." She was not able to complete her statement when Finn held her lips with two fingers, shutting her up.
"You talk a lot, dear. Though I love you the way you are, I have to bid my brother goodbye before he gets late for work." He winked at her again then faced his brother. To his surprise, Alaric’s eyes were already turning. "Bro, all okay?" He let go of Ravenna instantly and stood in front of her hiding her view of Alaric so she would not see him in that form.
Alaric somehow calmed when he saw Finn had let go of her, but there was still something burning inside him. There was a sour and bitter feeling watching the two holding each other playfully, like they were inseparable and wished to be the one there, pull her to him and never her leave his arms. He wanted to make her understand only he was supposed to do that, and no one else. Not even his most trusted brothers.
"Am here for her!" Alaric declared though in a low tone, then his eyes turned completely normal.
Finn retreated back and stood beside Ravenna. "You mean her?" He asked glancing at Ravenna briefly, then back at Alaric.
"Yes." Alaric glanced at her his eyes flashing with an unknown emotion then turned away.
Ravenna felt her now calm heartbeat accelerate, hearing Alaric said he had come for her. But before she could rejoice fully, his next statement broke her heart into pieces.
