Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 455 - Chapter 455 Chapter 455 Guardian

Chapter 455: Chapter 455 Guardian Chapter 455: Chapter 455 Guardian Early morning.

Warm sunlight streamed through the gap in the window, falling on Roger’s face as he opened his eyes to the chirping of birds outside.

The scent of hibiscus mixed with wisteria petals flowed into his nostrils; even within the wooden cabin, Roger could feel the thriving vitality around him.

“This is indeed a nice place to unwind.”

Roger sprang out of bed, full of energy, got dressed, and stepped out of the door.

Today, the celebration would officially begin, the main events lasting three days. The first day was filled with cumbersome rituals and praise, and by evening, as a Guardian, Roger would face challenges from the young members of other Secret Blood Families.

After that, it would be Goway’s promotion ceremony, followed by two days of festivities.

To avoid trouble, Roger didn’t carry any weapons with him, and the clothes he wore were a standard set of Demon Hunter attire.

He had hidden his cloak away.

After stretching his limbs and finishing breakfast, Roger sensed a malicious gaze from afar. Looking up, he saw a pair of fierce blue eyes glaring at him from behind a tree.

“What should I do next?”

It seemed that Roger had forgotten the events of the previous night and asked loudly.

Though reluctant, the girl could only respond helplessly, “You should follow the crowd to our sacrificial ritual in a while.”

“You don’t need to do anything, and also, you’re sure to encounter young people from other Secret Blood Families later–don’t get into conflicts with them.”

“They will deliberately provoke you, trying to test your strength.”

The blue-eyed girl clearly didn’t understand Roger’s true capabilities.

As expected, before long, a group of people in formal attire streamed up the mountain path to the summit.

Roger blended into the crowd; his garb slightly out of place, but he paid it no mind, instead appreciating the scenery and architecture along the way.

From the attire and adornment of the people, he could generally infer the main composition of the Secret Blood Families; there were primarily five families.

Before the ritual began, an elderly woman with graying hair recounted the history and heritage of the five main families to the assembled crowd, as was the custom.

“…Today, we gathered here for a grand celebration, and are honored to have with us a listener of nature, the mighty Fourth Tier Druid–”

“The leader from the Nature Association, Lady Tamara!”

Toward the end, the old woman dropped a bombshell, immediately causing a stir among those present.

The attendees exchanged looks, with the more perceptive ones already sensing some signal in Tamara’s presence here.

However, upon hearing that name, Roger, standing in the crowd, suddenly felt a shock.

“Tamara, why would she be here?”

As he thought this, Roger cautiously began to move back. He quickly connected this to the previous assignment; Green had relocated him and the Gareth brothers from Eld.

Sent to Eld Island was not an ordinary Third Tier Transcendent but the Fourth Tier Druid Tamara. Although the appointment was strange, it seemed justifiable just before the Advent of the Black Tide.

Yet Tamara had not reached Dublin for the handover, and now, instead, she appeared at the Secret Blood Families’ grand ceremony.

A flicker of understanding crossed his eyes–was it some kind of deal?

Or was it that Green, due to manpower losses, had gradually lost certain rights?

Undercurrents roiled, and this time, Roger truly began to consider departing the European continent.

“Find the right moment to leave the Round Table Knight Order,” he thought to himself.

A commanding figure stepped forward, and Roger lowered his head, silently slipping into the bushes nearby; currently, his public identity was that of the Heritage Knight Bedivere.

If Tamara saw him, given her nature, who knows how much trouble might arise.

Yebeni was killed by Roger’s own hand; such a matter could not be easily let go, and if Tamara’s actions were meant to be secretive, yet were disrupted by his presence here…

With prior suspicions, Tamara had ample motive to make a move against him.

Everyone’s attention was captivated by Tamara onstage, and nobody noticed Roger’s movements, which were indeed as some had surmised.

The Nature Association had already formed an alliance with the Secret Blood Family, the latter of which would integrate into the Nature Association as a separate force, signifying their complete detachment from the Round Table Knight Order.

Goway stood onstage, her gaze sweeping across the crowd when suddenly Tamara’s voice reached her side.

“I have heard of your traditions, and now that the Secret Blood Family has been integrated into the Nature Association, we are one family.”

With a smile on her face, Tamara said, “A Transcendent of your excellence is rare, even within the Nature Association. If the younger generation were to learn of this, countless would vie to express their adoration for you.”

Tamara seemed to be hinting at something, but Goway was somewhat distracted at the moment, “You flatter me.”

Facing this powerful woman, Goway felt a vague unease in her heart, but the experiences of Grace had taught her that they must break away from the Round Table Knights.

Otherwise, utter decline awaited them.

What followed was a tedious ceremony and ritual, during which Goway remained somewhat distracted. The whole process continued until noon, and then everyone gathered at a circular dueling field.

According to tradition, it was time for Goway’s Guardian to face challenges from other members of the Secret Blood families.

Goway sat on the stage, surrounded by core Controllers from other Secret Blood families, and throughout the event, Tamara was also in attendance.

“Bloodline heritage outweighs everything; a new Third Tier Transcendent is about to be born. Youths from other families, prove your worth with your strength,”

“and gain the favor of the mighty!”

“The victor will have the opportunity to approach today’s protagonist and extend one reasonable invitation!”

As these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the venue instantly reached its peak.

Around the dueling field, several young members of the Secret Blood families were eagerly preparing to take the stage.

“Please welcome the Guardian to the stage,”

“Geralt of Rivia!”

Applause thundered; all eyes turned to the exit, but after more than ten seconds, no one appeared.

Anxiety appeared in Goway’s eyes; she knew Roger, and if he had promised her something, he would never leave without a reason.

If he wasn’t showing up now, there must be a problem.

Recalling the earlier events, her gaze involuntarily settled on Tamara beside her.

As the wait for someone to appear continued, whispers began to spread through the crowd.

“Is this Geralt your friend?”

Tamara asked.

“How did you come to know each other?”

“A chance encounter brought us together at sea,”

Goway replied quietly, concealing the anxiety in her eyes.

As the murmurs in the crowd gradually intensified, a figure stepped out from the exit.

The man was dressed in a light green, tight-fitted battle suit, revealing a muscular build beneath its fabric with broad shoulders and two silver Cross Hilts protruding from behind them.

The onlookers continued to gaze upward.

“What kind of outfit is this?”

Someone murmured in confusion.

The man stepping out was wearing a mask at the moment.

“I’m here,”

Roger said.

“Let’s begin.”
