Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 456 - Chapter 456 Chapter 456 Suddenly
Chapter 456: Chapter 456 Suddenly Chapter 456: Chapter 456 Suddenly “Is Mr. Geralt so incredibly ugly?”
“That he dare not show his true face?”
Tamara spoke up.
Watching the clothes on Roger’s body, Goway’s breathing became hurried, as if she had understood something, and glanced sideways at Tamara.
“Miss Tamara, what you don’t know is that he’s dressed like this on purpose.”
Goway took several deep breaths, gradually steadying her breathing.
“The clothes he wears, the two swords on his back, they all belong to Grace, and the patterns carved on the mask on his face symbolize our family.”
Goway’s gaze became focused.
“He is my friend, but at this moment, he represents Grace.”
According to tradition, indeed, it was Grace who should have taken on the role of the Guardian.
But everyone was well aware of Grace’s outcome, so for a moment, the others around them fell silent.
Tamara nodded, seemingly understanding something.
She picked up the cup on the table nonchalantly, but her gaze was firmly fixed on the figure standing in the center of the arena.
There was a familiar aura about him, as if she had seen it somewhere before.
And now the others sitting around the arena also understood Roger’s outfit, and the murmuring decreased significantly.
Then a young man with blond hair jumped out, a badge with a roaring beast on his chest.
“I come from the Curtis family.”
The young man drew his weapon, a heavy two-handed warhammer.
Roger, without a word, drew the two cross swords from his back.
The weapons sparkled dazzlingly under the sunlight, with his hands crossed, the left hand in front of his chest, and the right hand horizontally at the middle of the blade.
The two weapons formed a perfect cross.
“Let’s begin.”
The young man opposite was just a newly minted Second Tier Transcendent; even without using any Dharma Seal Energy, relying solely on physical strength, Roger could completely overwhelm him.
However, with Tamara watching from above, Roger didn’t want to appear too powerful. He moved with calculated ease, controlling the rhythm of his attacks so that his opponent wouldn’t be defeated too quickly, yet also showcased his opponent’s strength quite appropriately.
The cross swords moved fluidly, holding their own against the young man’s heavy weapon, exchanging blows for several minutes.
Roger’s wrist flicked, and taking advantage of the young man’s fading strength, he deftly knocked the weapon from his hands.
With hands crossed, Roger struck the same initial stance as before, and if anyone noticed, they would see that, despite the intense battle, in the end, Roger had returned to the exact same spot from which he had started his attack.
“You are very skilled, I am wholly convinced by my defeat.”
The young man was drenched in sweat, giving Roger a grateful look before turning and walking away.
The gap in strength between the two was clear, but the fight had been quite exciting.
Following that, several people took turns entering the ring, but like the first young man, none were a match for Roger.
Some tried to provoke Roger, using words to rile him up, but like before, Roger remained unshaken, like a rock.
His concise and precise swordsmanship ran through the entire fight; he didn’t use overly complex techniques, just simple chopping and piercing strikes, but even these ordinary skills defeated challenger after challenger!
Challengers from the other four families all failed, and the few smaller families didn’t send any more competitors. Roger’s strength was evident to all.
What was even more commendable was that he left all the Duel participants with their dignity intact.
They had failed, yet it was not embarrassing.
The atmosphere in the area gradually heated up; this kind of combat was far more thrilling than a crushing defeat or an instant kill.
In fact, that was the very purpose of the Guardian’s existence and the fundamental aim of the combat before the promotion ceremony.
“Clang!”
The sword returned to its sheath.
Roger stood in place, surrounded by a tide of applause. As per tradition, he had defeated all the challengers, but just then, Tamara suddenly stood up.
As a Fourth Tier Transcendent, her identity and strength far surpassed everyone else in the room, and her every move was the focus of the crowd.
“Since the Secret Blood Family has now integrated into the Nature Association, as a member, we cannot be absent from such an event,” Tamara stated.
Tamara’s gaze swept around the room and finally rested on Goway’s face.
“Our Nature Association would also like to send a challenger–such a request shouldn’t be excessive, right?”
“No… how could it be?”
A middle-aged man with meticulously combed hair replied.
He was the patriarch of the Curtis family.
“This is a ceremonial event, and of course, the livelier the better.”
Tamara nodded, “I’ve heard that the beneficiary can make a non-excessive request of our protagonist today.”
She glanced at Goway and said with a smile, “It’s impossible to expect a Third Tier Transcendent to fall into one’s arms willingly.”
“But if it’s just a simple matter of asking for a kiss.”
“That shouldn’t be excessive, should it?”
Tamara chuckled, appearing to make a joke, yet the seriousness in her eyes was easily discernible to anyone.
As soon as her words fell, the faces of the leaders from the various Secret Blood Families around Goway revealed awkward smiles.
Roger, standing in the arena, couldn’t help but sigh.
If the Round Table Knight Order was a fierce tiger to the Secret Blood Family, then the Nature Association, which they now depended on, was at least a vicious wolf even if not as powerful as the tiger.
The purpose of Tamara was clear: the notion of equality was a facade, and it was only a matter of time before she would assert her strength and establish a clear hierarchical relationship.
Yet tragically, even knowing Tamara’s intent, the Secret Blood Family had no other choice. They had already betrayed the Round Table Knight Order, and if the Nature Association were to abandon them as well…
“Krus,” Tamara spoke softly, “add some new excitement to this event.”
“Be mindful of your limits; do not harm Miss Goway’s friend. If you cause discontent, no matter what you request, they are likely to refuse.”
“Don’t worry, Teacher.”
The Round Table Knight Order’s influence spanned all of Europe, a vast territory, and the Nature Association, as a power on par with the Knight Order, also possessed mighty Third Tier Transcendents.
To everyone’s surprise, the young man who had always been silent beside Tamara stood out, releasing a powerful aura.
The power of a Third Tier.
Tamara was showcasing the strength of the Nature Association, and at the same time, she was setting the leadership tone.
After victory, Krus might not make any unreasonable demands, but this sort of condescension based on the difference in power levels was what truly mattered.
Krus had a youthful face, but his eyes were full of world-weariness; he was no young man. His main responsibility was over the Faku region, which had once belonged to the brothers Gareth.
With a broad shoulder and a narrow waist, his limbs were slightly longer than an average person’s. He walked into the arena, and looking at Roger standing opposite him, he didn’t even draw the weapon from behind his back.
“Not bad, you know your limits,” Krus smiled. “To show my respect for you, I’ve decided to be direct.”
“End the fight quickly.”
