Demon Hunter and His Cabin
Chapter 454 - Chapter 454 Chapter 454 Family

Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Family Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Family Roger curled his lip, “It’s you who’s overthinking, okay?”

He sized up Goway’s bean sprout-like figure, “I’ve always seen you as a friend, but it seems like you’re always misunderstanding something.”

He gestured to indicate the height difference between them, “Suspicions like these, let’s wait until you grow a bit taller and look a bit more mature before discussing them.”

Having said that, he dropped the subject and instead pointed at the cabin in front of them, “Is this where I’m going to live?”

Goway nodded, “This was the place where my brother used to live, you can stay here for now. As my Guardian, if I arranged for you to stay somewhere else, those folks from the Secret Blood Families would definitely look to trouble you in advance.”

“Thanks for having my interests at heart,” Roger nodded; he indeed hated trouble.

Goway pursed her lips, “I’m just worried those guys will be crippled by you before the ceremony even starts.”

“Can you imagine the scene if no one comes up to challenge?”

“Eh…”

“Alright then.”

Roger thought it over and concluded Goway probably had a point.

The entire Secret Blood Families, a group whose strength had waned terribly, didn’t have a single person above the Fourth Tier; as for the Third Tier…

Roger shrugged. He indicated that apart from extremely difficult individuals like Lancelot or Gawain, he wouldn’t take any of the other Third Tiers seriously.

As for Gawain or Lancelot, if it really came to a fight, Roger was confident that he would be the one to survive in the end.

So, he wasn’t at all worried about becoming the so-called Guardian; he actually treated it as a kind of relaxing game.

It seemed nice to stretch his muscles with some First and Second Tier individuals.

The cabin had two floors, with the top one built directly into the trees, featuring a delicately structured interior and a spiral staircase leading straight to the second floor.

Although Grace would no longer be returning here, the room was still clean and tidy, and there was a blooming hibiscus flower on the windowsill, the symbol of Goway’s family.

Roger noticed two capital letters G written on the flowerpot, which looked like something Goway and Grace had planted together.

They must have spent a joyful childhood here, but after their later separation, and not long after they were reunited, Grace became the vessel for Tristan and had his consciousness fully erased.

“You can stay here for now.”

A flicker of emotion shot through Goway’s eyes, she was about to advance to the Third Tier, and become the mainstay of the entire family, a responsibility that weighed on her shoulders, changed her a lot.

“If you particularly like any of the guys coming to challenge, remember to let me know in advance; I can take it easy on them so they get a chance to come up to you and declare their feelings.”

Roger teased with a chuckle.

“You take care of yourself; you will face many challenges. Don’t get beaten because you’re out of endurance!” Goway admonished, “I don’t want to have to deal with those guys who only know how to be jealous.”

Roger smiled indifferently.

“I could fight all day!”

Goway said nothing more and turned to leave. With the grand celebration approaching, besides her advancement ceremony, there were other activities to prepare for. It was already quite exceptional that she could take a moment to see Roger.

The gathering place was quiet and peaceful, and Roger didn’t roam around either. He wasn’t disturbed all day; both lunch and dinner were delivered to his room by dedicated individuals.

The two girls who brought the meals were the same ones who had previously received him; they always looked at Roger with curious eyes, which made him come up with some strange ideas.

All day long Goway didn’t appear again, leaving Roger to enjoy his leisure. The celebration seemed to be very grand; after dusk, many people participated in the spontaneously organized festivities.

In such a quiet and peaceful place, without battles or monsters, Roger found rare tranquility. Soon after it got dark, he went to bed early.

In a daze, he heard someone tapping gently on the window. The visitor’s footsteps were light, and through the rhythm of their breathing, Roger could roughly make out who it was.

He turned over and muttered.

“The door isn’t locked, and my bed is quite big, you might as well come in and see for yourself.”

“But if you’re just looking to play a joke on me like you did during the day…”

“I think you’d better be mentally prepared for what’s to come!”

As for what that entailed, Roger said nothing.

The girl tapping on the window paused mid-movement, her breathing quickened, but after a while, whether she had thought of something or just snorted disdainfully, she turned and left.

Roger turned over again and glanced down at the wooden bed he was lying on.

The bed was cramped; with his size, lying on it filled up the space entirely. It was impossible to fit anyone else on such a bed.

Roger couldn’t help but wonder whether it was a local custom or if Goway had intentionally swapped out his bed for a new one.

In his confusion, he fell back asleep.

Meanwhile, in a room atop the central tower of the gathering place, a voluptuous woman was sternly instructing someone.

“Goway, mind your manners. You’re not a child anymore; you represent our entire family.”

“The person you’re about to meet is a real personage.”

“Is this celebration prepared just for her?”

The woman nodded, “This matter is too important; it’s about the future of the entire Secret Blood Family. We need to secure additional support and completely rid ourselves of the Knights’ influence.”

Goway’s eyes twinkled, and two names came to mind. “Which power is it?”

“You’ll know soon enough.”

The woman didn’t answer but instead, dressed in finery, led Goway up to the top of the tall tower.

Atop the tower stood a row of solemn figures. Goway recognized them as the power core of various Secret Blood Families.

In the darkness, something seemed to tumble through the air, followed by a carriage that appeared out of nowhere, pulled by two black nightmares.

When the person on the carriage stepped down, the carriage turned into a wisp of black smoke and vanished into the air.

“Lady Tamara, welcome to the Secret Blood celebration,” they greeted.

The person who appeared before them was a woman of bear-like strength and stature, with a square face and powerful arms.

She was wrapped in a cloak made from the fur of an unidentified animal.

Honestly, her rough attire matched her current image so well that no one could mistake Tamara for a Fourth Tier Druid just by her appearance.

“This truly is a beautiful place. For Druids, nature is our home,” she proclaimed.

Tamara scanned the faces before her, pausing momentarily on Goway.

“I bring with me the friendship of the Nature Association.”

“The past hundred years of history have taught us that the Nature Association is the best ally of the Secret Blood Families. The Round Table Knight Order is nothing more than a bunch of Vampires in human skin!”

“We should have been family all along.”

Tamar’s mouth split into what she thought was a gentle but was actually a ferocious smile.
